Great free breakfast (Basics: fruit, cereal, waffles, eggs, yogurt, juice, coffee) Perfect for the AM. Nice remodeled bathrooms, great sheets and an always changed duvet cover with every new guest. Great location if trying to catch a cruise ship across the street. Train/Trolly is close (runs in back of the hotel) you can hear the bell and train. Staff recommends to get a room in the front. But they provide ear plugs! Ha! All buildins in the area hear the train....part of downtown.

Near gas lamp district The room was not what I had booked, it was so small that the chair in the room was wedged between a bed and a wall, it was hot and muggy when we opened the door, and it didn't smell clean.

Walking distance to all downtown areas. Easy to see everything in short amount of time. Trains behind hotel with the constant bell chiming of the crossings. I was able to tune it out most of the time.

The bed was very comfortable. The room was well-appointed. The Receptionist at check-in was very nice. Highlights of the breakfast were: porridge (oatmeal). Orange juice, and proper (aka strong!) coffee. This hotel promotes itself as an eco-friendly hotel, yet every single plate, cup or piece of cutlery at breakfast was either of paper, of plastic, or worse, of polystyrene. This is a disgrace. It also reduces the pleasure of the meal. It cheapens the whole experience. Given the price I paid I would expect proper plates, cups and cutlery. The freshly- made waffles were like tasteless cardboard. Had I looked properly at the map I would have realized the train line ran straight along the back of the hotel. I realized this once I saw the thoughtful set of earplugs beside the bed. I was so jet lagged that while the trains woke me up, I did fall asleep again. But others need to know that a front bedroom might not be available on arrival. The hotel was overbooked the night I arrived (at 9pm) and the nice receptionist was looking for volunteers to move to a hotel two blocks up the road. I considered it and then said that given that I had just arrived from Ireland on an 18 hour trip and was already jet lagged, I would leave it to someone else to move. He agreed with me immediately.

Nice and clean, good shower. Pool was too cold! If you have a pool make it warm enough to swim in or don't bother having one at all!

The hotel was fantastic. I didn't have any problem due to the trains (only some bells at night that didn't bother me) and I enjoyed bery much the room, breakfast and terrific location. It is right next to little Italy (great for dinners out) and the walk to the convention center through the water front was beautiful and only ~20 minutes long. Very helpful shuttle service as well. Really exceptional place.

Nice and clean room. For going on a cruise, location was superb. We got a room near the railroadcrossing. The manager had told us in advance that the hotel was fully booked, so the expected! complaints about the railroad could not be met by giving us another room. Luckily the EARPLUGS would be waiting on our bedside tables. Indeed we more than needed them.

The hotel is in a very good location- close to the airport, downtown, the San Diego bayside boardwalk, Little Italy, and easy walking distance to the Convention center. The trolley stop is near the hotel and gives inexpensive access to the Convention Center to the South and Mission Valley area to the north. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed, comfortable and pleasant. Many reviewers complained about the noise from the trolley that runs behind the hotel. Yes, we could hear it, but did not find it to be intrussive. It did not disturb our sleep and we were there several nights. There are a host of "background city sounds" in that part of San Diego, and the trolley mostly blended in with them. All other circumstances being the same, I would stay at this hotel again.

The Reception Staff were excellent, very helpful and considerate to our requirements. The drivers of the Shuttle Bus were friendly and very helpful during our short stay, Chuck in particular, nice guy. Have already told others how good it was. Thanks to all the staff. Regards M. Rodgers. England. The Trams were expected, Amtrack made a good alarm call.
