Car parking is limited and breakfast is lacking
Good location. Breakfast was good.
Parking was tight. Very warm in hallways. Felt like there was no air conditioning on.
Close to Maritime Museum
Broken elevator that also served as a sauna....... HOT!!! So hot that the Fire Department showed up........
airport shuttle drivers comfortable room and bed location
Laurie was great. You can see that she takes working there to heart. I know from talking to her that she is trying to get the rest of the staff up to her level.
The first night we had a loud noise from the air conditioning in the building, but the next night Laurie fixed us up with a different room. Problem solved.
Nice breakfast. Good location, close to Little Italy, easy walking distance. Nice park across street.
Refrigerator and microwave in room need updating.
Everything was good
Parking. If you try to come in late after an evening out in San Diego it could be a pain trying get a spot in the underground parking that you have to pay for.
they ran out of parking for their guests on Friday and Saturday night. Had to park on street.
Great location and staff.
I didn't feel it was good price for what we received. It could have been a lot cheaper a night compared to another property we stayed at while in San Diego.
Super nice staff. Clean, well ordered room with good bedding. Breakfast included for nominal price.
You need to special request a quiet room on the non-trolley tracks side of the hotel. Otherwise, you need to be able to sleep through the trolley and crossing noise.
We always enjoy our stay here, have stayed twice in different floors and love it, the cleanness, the breakfast, the coffe, the beds, practically everything!
We think the elevators need improvment two of the three are really jumpy.
Awesome continental breakfast
We were put in a smoking room and the pack and play was old and all the sides would not set up properly
Every thing was great. I liked the location, you can get around easily, easy walk to little Italy, beside, it is next to trolley. Staff's very helpful and friendly, room is clean, breakfast was excellent. Certainly, we enjoyed our stay.
My daughter liked the breakfast served even morning. It was good. The staff was always available to help with questions we had. And then also the shuttle was great.
The breakfast was fantastic! Waffles, eggs, sausage, and all day coffee. The staff were amazing and the free shuttle was a great service. No issues with noise for us and we stayed a week! Highly recommend this hotel!
A fridge in the room would be nice, but there was ice on every floor.
It was a nice stay! Breakfast was great!
Location in the downtown is pretty good. Hot breakfast is fine too
The hotel is very noisy because of trolleys and trains running next to it, so they provide all guests ear plugs for free. I wouldn't suggest it for guests wishing to relax or have a good night sleep. I literally couldn't sleep in the room they gave me first, since it was facing the trolley line, so I had to ask for another room, which was better. However, if you are traveling for a short time and don't mind using ear plugs, give this hotel a try
Free hot beverages at the lobby and free wifi
Homeless people at the trolley station behind the hotel
Every aspect of our stay at Thr Hampton Inn Downtown San Diego was fantastic! The staff was consistently helpful, pleasant and accommodating! We were married on Saturday night and my new husband and I stayed there for a week! It was the perfect for our family to congregate also! We had 10 rooms reserved for family and friends and all of us agree it was without a doubt a terrific experience because of the service at the Hampton Inn! The folks at the front desk were consistently polite and patient and also even shared in our excitement of our celebration. The availability of the free hot breakfast was perfect as we all gathered in the spacious breakfast room every morning. The staff kept an eye on the tasty food and kept it clean and hot. Also the staff was always kind and polite, whether it was on the elevator or the folks sprucing up our rooms each morning. We stayed at a hotel in La Jolla one night and it really made us appreciate the Hampton even more! There was a cigar smoker on the deck next to us, a loud fight and police in the night and a lame breakfast.. I highly recommend the Hampton Inn Downtown! Thank you for making our wedding weekend unforgettable!
Friendly Staff, Great selection of breakfast, Clean and spacious room, Great for the budget. There is Little Italy nearby this hotel so you can get great food for dinner as well!!
Wi-Fi in the rooms would be nice. (Though my husband could use the wi-fi in the room, catching the signal from lobby. But you don't know where your room is and if you can get wi-fi until you check-in.)
Trolley station and Amtrak station nearby. Short walk to scenic pier and boardwalk, Very easy to get around if you have no car Breakfast was good and plenty of it. One of the best hotels of stayed at for the price.
Everything at the hotel
The noise coming from the trains passing by nor the signals that a train is passing by.
Location is excellent.
Some railroad traffic noise but it was not bad in our room.
Excellent location. Very comfortable beds.
great price, amenities
a bit loud by the train tracks which were busy all night
