Score from 1709 reviews Good
I liked the location, the big room, the balcony the pool.
Great location as a base to explore San Fran. Easy to get a cab, metro, street car, or the BART (Powell Street Station). The Grill next door does a great cocktail.
Nice staff. Pool area is wonderful.
Restaurant was hard to get into for breakfast because it was busy with people coming in off the street to eat.
Our room was lovely and spacious. It was also my husband and my third anniversary and the hotel had given us a complimentary bottle of champagne on arrival in our room!
One of the best locations in town
Location of the hotel was near a plethora of places to eat, was located near a major mall just down the street about 2 blocks and had access to the cable cars for some sightseeing. The Queen sized bed slept great and the restaurant attached to hotel had great food. Had all the amenities I required
Elevators seemed to have a mind of its own occasionally stopping on floors with no people waiting. Having to renew the wifi connection every day. Window in bathroom (room 749) would not latch and remained partially open
Our booking @ 229.00 was great. Carlos [night manager] told us on SAT EVE we could switch to KGO special
Disappointed at soo many extra fees..extra $100.00 yikes Upon arrival were told we could NOT switch to KGO special. Exhaust fan[?] in closet came on and went off all night in very short spurts just got used to one and the other would happen ..mae for a toss & turn night
Courteous and responsive staff. Plus a wonderful location.
Slightly annoyed at having to pay to print my boarding pass in the business center.
booked a twin double bed room and got a double with folding bed. Had to climb over the bed to get to the other side of the small room. when questioned the staff said it was all they had left despite booking the room nearly two months in advance. Also booked a quiet room and got one direct onto the main road.
Bit pricey, but it is SFO after all
Day staff was extremely rude Parking staff even more rude Water pressure was but a sad trickle
We like the central location, close to union square and cable car, rooms were spacious and serviced daily, will stay again when in San Fran ..
having to go upstairs with our luggage to access lift to our room when we first checked in.
Close to everything. Room was large and comfortable. Wish I had more time to use the facilities - i.e., the pool and the on-site gym. Very friendly staff!
Wish the price of the room wasn't so high.
Location was great. Hotel was comfortable and clean. We had no major problems.
The AC in our room didn't work very well. The rooms are a but outdated, especially the bathrooms.
I liked the location.
We had to change rooms twice. The first one was very smelly (like oil), the second one was very noisy (the AC was off but the device was making a huge noise anyway). Finally, the third room was ok. The bathroom was a little smelly (like mold) but super noisy (you could hear all movements through the walls and doors).
The accommodation was excellent, a large, bright, light room comfortably and beautifully furnished with loads of wardrobe space, and little extra touches like the magnifying mirrow in the bathroom, loads of electrical sockets at the right height, lovely soft pillows. Also, brilliant location right in the centre of everything.
Sorry to say, we found the majority of the staff slightly arrogant and unfriendly - wth the exception of the Bell Boys who although not over friendly, were very polite and efficient.
nice staff; great location; good restaurant
Convenient location and spacious premier room.
A bit of a rabbit warren getting to room and dark restaurant for breakfast. Otherwise very good
We had a fantastic stay at the Handlery. The staff were fantastic and location is perfect.
The breakfasts in the grill next door were average. There are much better breakfasts just a short walk way.
We always stay at this hotel when in San Francisco. We feel there are other more modern hotels in the vicinity but overall this hotel offers a good price, brilliant location and free wifi which is always a bonus.
Mostly the position
Little bit 'tired' bedroom/bathroom decor
Great location, helpful staff, nice view of the city.
Location is central Rooms are spacious Kids loved the pool
Decor is tired Mattresses are soft and need replacing Bit of a rabbit warren to get to room
Staff, especially the concierge was very helpful. Perfect location for exploring SF Excellent food at the Daily Grill.
Pricey breakfast but you get what you pay for.
Location is in the middle of town. Best place. Good transportation. Nice room
