Beach and swiming pool are amazing!!
Paid internet and very bad connection
The beach. Various options to each for someone on a budget. The friendliness of the staff.
The absence of more waiters. We had to go to the bar to request someone to take our order. Noticed others, who were obviously big spenders, were served first, even though we were there before them. Think more help is needed at the bar and swimming area.
The beach, the pool, the room layouts . Not crowded . Was there early October , could not have been more relaxing or better situated for exploring the northwest coast, Fab weather.
First room was musty and smelled of mildew. Waited a long, long time for any change. Waited at restaurants. Seemed like lots pf waiting. .
Very comfortable room with a huge bathroom. Great bar staff with a happy hour from 3 - 8pm! Nice pool with just the right amount of people to look like a gathering of friends. Beach was excellent, again not at all crowded. Staff help with booking you for the Luau at the sister hotel the next beach over - definitely worth seeing.
Paying for parking - it seems like gouging when practically everyone will need a car to get here. Paying for Wifi.
The hotel premises were beautiful and well kept as was our room. The beach is just in front of the hotel and was very nice and convenient. Housekeeping was doing a great job.
On the other hand the front desk staff is very mechanical "just doing their job" - so don't look for any aloha there. It is also quite far from everything, so you will need to drive a lot if you go to the volcanoes etc.
My adult son accompanied me on this trip and we both loved the beach and pool. Our rooms were great and I have no complaints.
Large ocean view room, great beach, clean facilities, on-site stores had nice variety, access to Maunea Kea resort too! Nice and laid back resort for its size. Hurricane preparations barely influenced our fun.
Silly resort fee "Splash Pass", WiFi speed was sluggish
The view of the pool and beach from the lobby is awe-inspiring. Lots of spots to sit and watch the ocean.
Our room was several long hallways away from the lobby and the pool and access to the beach. Hard to go back and forth if you forget something.
The beach! The views! The quiet. The pool restaurant and fun, friendly, sharp waiters, the food, Mai tais! The pool. Grab 'n go shop.
Actually had very slow service in the expensive Restaurant we ate in our first night. Our waitress was sweet but kept forgetting everything. Finally two hours later the bill also reflected all her confusion.
Location is superb! We loved the beautiful beach and all the amenities -- the beach bar and cabanas, people to set up umbrellas, the wonderful singer at the evening bar. Breakfast was especially good.
--Constant extra charges being levied -- for parking, for cabanas, for resort fees. --Everything closes by 8:30 PM. I was surprised that neither the bar nor the restaurant had no later hours -- Food for dinner was overpriced for the value.
The beach and view was outstanding. The room was large and well appointed.
From our room it was a long walk to back to the lobby to get to the restaurants and valet. The dining experience was excellent and the service was great. The food was good, but not good enough to support the prices.
"Star Gazing" well worth the money; nice rooms with screen doors so you can sleep with the windows open and hear the ocean!
not a lot of food options, food really expensive
Everything!! Beautiful beach, pool. Great selection for food.
Very helpfull staff. Great location and fantastic white sand beach
Wi-Fi: low or none signal
The ocean view room was incredible. You can have the patio door open and hear the ocean. This also allows you to keep the A/C off and enjoy the cool breeze. The pool is great, the drinks are strong but good, the beach is magical and mostly calm water. We stopped at the store before going to the hotel which helped save a little bit of cash since we could make some drinks and snacks in our room. Once you get to this hotel, you will not want to leave! At least we didn't. The restaurant on site is actually very good. Of course everything is expensive, but at least the food was delicious!
The resort worked out a shuttle service with a nearby hotel and allowed cross-charging at their respective restaurants to double the choices for dining.
Not too much around the resort for alternative dinning choices
I truly liked everything (except leaving). The resort had everything I wanted and felt the stay was a great value overall.
Check-out felt slightly disorderly and the taxi reserved through the front-desk was not properly made by them.
The beach!! The pool!!
Cost of drinks at the bar!! Ridiculous
Scenic Location, lovely beach Room spacious & pleasant Cleaned to a high standard throughout stay by lovely staff. A la carte restaurant food was reasonably good but expensive. Service here definitely more pleasant.
Poor service in all the buffet & pool areas. Food here also poor. Beach towels had not been washed.
I was very impressed by the fact that I'd mentioned on booking that I was on a non-dairy gluten free diet. I am used to bending this rule on holiday, and can usually find eggs/hashbrowns etc at a breakfast buffet so that I don't have to worry. I didn't notify anyone but was asked if I wanted gluten free french toast or pancakes and was told that someone would be right over with my soy milk. Impressive! The staff, from Rain at the coffee shop to the lady at the egg station, to reception staff, sales people in the stores - were all very friendly. Despite the large scale and capacity of the hotel I felt there was a personal tough. The beach was gorgeous and I liked the option of purchasing lunch (a simple sandwich/salad, nuts/snacks) at the coffee shop rather than having to spend on a full sit down meal.
As with all other hotels on the west coast of Hawaii Island, wifi costs extra, as does parking. There is a public beach next to the hotel beach and the public is able to stroll onto the hotel's more private beach - this wasn't really an issue.
Quiet beachside location, well equipped spacious room. Some superb views from various parts of the hotel inc the breakfast terrace.
Limited evening meal options and pricey. Quiet location brings remoteness from anywhere else so a car necessary. Lacks a bit of soul/character in the evenings, everything seems to close up early.
wonderful outlooks over beach lovely gardens
fees for internet
Love the proximity to the beach
Distance to the room.
