Location cleanliness neighborhood is safe and has good restaurants
price size of the room is too small didn't have my breakfast for the two days because Mo the manager was late.
Location and easy to find Different and more homely than your normal hotel chains Personal touches and advice Views across to Manhattan Breakfast Personal advice on how to get to NYC from excellent manager Free Parking Really enjoyed my stay at the B&B and easy to get to the Staten Isle ferry for a great day/night out in Manhattan at a fraction of the price of similar hotels
Really helpful and friendly staff!
Everything, view, very quaint, nice staff.
The bed was uncomfortable
Nice view from staten island to the nyc skyline. You get free parking ( and almost nothing is free in nyc!). And the free ferry ride to manhattan (passing the statue of liberty) was the first highlight of the day for our kids (actually the second after a huge containership went past by the window at breakfast) The place is not the most modern but location and friendliness of the host make all up for it
Breakfast was nothing fancy but really nothing to complain about either
location was decent--not too far from ferries. Only met one staff member but he was very helpful and pleasant. Place was clean, just old. Nice and quiet considering its location.
Lighting was limited. Breakfast was continental. No TVs--not necessarily a negative. Tons of old books laying around--I suppose that could be useful for someone who forgot to bring something to read.
We stayed for 5 days and had very enjoyable experience. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable and spectacular view on Manhattan, just across the bay. Hotel manager was very helpful, made us feel truly welcome. Ferry to Manhattan is free.
Transport to Manhattan takes about 45 minutes ( bus + ferry), but the ride is very nice and provides opportunity to see Statue of Liberty and downtown Manhattan from a ship deck.
Mo, the Harbor, the view, the desire to please, the ability to feel as though you lived there. I am a Business Owner with multiple franchises and I know that what really counts, is how you treat people. Harbor House, gets this! From even before I got there I felt as though my best interests were being considered. Mo the proprietor called me on my cell phone while en route to make sure everything was fine and to tell me not to worry if I got there and he was not there, he was stepping out and would return in a few minutes..He happened to be back when I pulled up and proceeded to show me right where to park and welcomed me in as though we had been friends forever. Then that first night I had pizza delivered only to find out they did not accept credit cards and I only had $7 cash and my credit card. Mo pulled out $25 gave it to me and said "no problem, you can pay me back!" This is common place for this establishment as confirmed by folks that were back who were returning guests. I WILL be back!! (:
Nothing, unless I wanted to nit pick. I think that if you remember that it is a B and B and not a Hotel, you will have a marvelous time.
easy to the ferry for Manhattan
The owner was very accommodating. Morning meal was simple more like a continental breakfast compared to those that are usually offered by B&B.
The room did not look like those advertised on the web. Although the room was clean, the furnishings and decor were disappointing.
The view is worth more than the price. And, Moe (the manager) goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable.
The linens could use some updating, particularly the pillows, but everything was clean.
The location tho a bit out of the way was beautiful, right by the water with views of manhattan. Had a nice porch for warmer days. Room tho simple was comfy, free breakfast was handy.
The location is wonderful. We had a great view of the ny skyline and it was close to the ferry.
The breakfast consisted of some cereal, coffee, instant oatmeal and hot chocolate. When a place advertises itself as a bed and breakfast, I expect more than a less than adequate continental breakfast. Luckily, I am an over prepared mom who brought enough food to feed my family for the days we spent there.
Wonderful location - very convenient for me, easy access to ferry and Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Also very quiet.
Room on the 3rd floor was FREEZING! One would think heat would rise, but not the case here. Radiator put out NO heat until 1am. No extra blankets in room either, put down filled coat on bed for warmth. Would wish for off the street parking, too.
The price. Good water volume in the shower.
No a/c, and room window could not be opened. My room looked nothing like the photos on the web. According to Booking.com, taxes & service charge should have come to $53.80. But I was charged $73.80. The owner mumbled something about S.I. parking tax.
