The owner was very friendly and helpful. The service excellent and the location was perfect for our weekend stay. Thank you John!
Room was clean and comfortable. Owner was very nice. Able to walk to restaurants and shops. Beautiful view.
Road noise affected sleep.
This was a beautiful central location with wonderful views of the harbor. Great experience of a New England fishing harbor and the Artist Community that thrives there. Plus, a gracious host in the proprietor.
John is an excellent host, very friendly & personable. Within walking to downtown, great location! His Inn is like a home & reminded me of my childhood when I visited my Aunt & Uncle, I love that the house is two hundred years old & in such great shape. I would highly recommend staying here if going to MA. I will be back it was like visiting a friend.
Not a thing!
Location, staff attention, breakfast,
Third floor walk-up.
Location was good, breakfast room was beautiful!
Wallpaper was dark & plaid on ceiling was a bit too much. Other rooms looked lighter & more pleasant. Bathroom needed to be refreshed with paint job.
Love the staff and the location of this B & B. Can't wait to stay there on my next visit to Gloucester!!!
Host was very personable Garden was beautiful Lovely breakfast in an elegant setting Clean, comfortable
Steep staircase Weak wifi on third floor
price and location . . . went w/o car and had no issues
nothing it was perfect
excellent location, clean, comfortable. The owner very friendly
Location, garden, and helpful owner. Nice view and easy access.
Air conditioning, smallish room.
Very expensive and the breakfast was marginal. We were in a room off the main living area. The bathroom is not designed for elderly customers. The host was very friendly and the decor is beautiful.
the view, quaint room, wonderful sitting room, Mr. John was so helpful.
only 5 parking spaces for 6 rooms, but Mr. John was very helpful nevertheless and we were well accommodated.
John, The innkeeper was a friendly, knowledgeable and gracious host. I felt like I was in my grandmother's home ( the Inn is 200+ yrs old). We were in the Rockport Room and the bed was sooooo comfortable! The porch outside has a view of a sweet little rose and perennial garden with a koi pond…..and then you look across to the ocean. This is a perfect location right in downtown Gloucester.
The breakfast could have included some kind of fresh fruit and yogurt….and the chips in the paint in the bathroom of our room could have been touched up. But these are minor and I would definitely return.
I have never stayed at a B and B before and I lucked out by staying at Harborview. The propietor was gracious and friendly. The inn was very clean. You can walk to town and the view is spectacular.
We liked the location. Easy walk to cute shops and eateries excellent view of Harbor!
Very dated decor and bathrooms needed update.
The view, the location, and John, the owner were all terrific. Breakfast on the porch is a great way to start the day!
Not a complaint, but a caution- the place is across the street from the harbor, right in town. The street is busy until late, so there will be some noise.
The location was excellent.
The Inn is in ill repair including a dangerously unstable outside banister at front entry which is almost necessary to hang on to due to many plants that make the entry there very narrow. Owner explained how he was going to have it fixed but this was peak tourist time and it should have been done prior to that. The decor of our room was garish - that is the only word I can think of to describe it. John, the owner, had a party with his personal friends on eve of July 3 when all the independence day celebrations took place. Consequently I had to remind him that a parking place was part of my package (he told me when I left in the morning that my space may be taken when I got back due to his personal guests). Additionally the small shared front room and the small shared front porch were completely filled with non-paying guests when we returned to the Inn after our day of personal time away from the Inn. To his credit he did ensure I had a parking space due to our morning chat about that but seemed to think it was alright to fill all the shared space with his nonpaying personal guests. I have used a lot of bed and breakfasts and this is the FIRST time an owner told me after I was there that he was having a private party at the residence. I do not find this acceptable. If he had told me that when I booked I would have booked elsewhere.
The host John made you feel so at home..He was kind and accommodating..The breakfast was delicious and plenty. I loved the old rooms, with the quaint antique furniture...beautifully done. I can't wait to visit again.
My stay was to short..
We loved the quaintness of the facility and the charm.
Although we liked the proprietor as a person, quite frankly, he scrimps on breakfast and for $179/night, it feels like we are being ripped off and he is very cheap. The rooms are very small, and the mattress was worn out and lumpy. Despite the charm and location, I don't think we would come back to this Inn again.
Location is great! Breakfast buffet better than many.
Tired old coverings on chairs in our room. Bathroom floor grout was filthy.
The locations was great and the innkeeper, John, was delightful - very helpful with information on local sites. The inn is beautiful; our room was cozy and comfortable.
In our 3rd floor room, the water pressure in the shower was sporadic. I recommend that anyone not willing to lug suitcases up to the 3rd floor choose a room on the lower floors. Not a problem for us - we carried only what we needed for our stay.
Best ever.we were treated like we owned the place. Everything perfect, and yes we were on the third floor.
John was very friendly and we loved the place. If we ever visit that area again this place will be our first choice.
The proprietor, John, was wonderful, endearing, and obviously loved being in the B&B business. View of the Ocean from our room was peaceful and delightful. Everything ran smoothly, and breakfast, listed as "continental", was more than that. Loved the front room with view of the ocean where breakfast was served.
Traffic on busy road day and night, and room that couldn't be darkened completely.
