In general, the hotel is in need of big maintenance - need to replace carpets, clean the floors
poor wifi, old hotel
Location and price
Nothing to mention
Old room. Tiny bathroom with no electrical outlet except on light which would not accept new plugs. No counter or vanity space at all. One available outlet in room--actually 1/2 as one of two small lamps plugged in there.
The location of the hotel is ideal for downtown DC and Chinatown where I was conducting business and had several appointments. It is also ideally located with relation to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center which is walking distance from the Harrington Hotel. The value for the money and convenience is excellent.
The hotel is pretty tired in terms of interior furnishings and general condition. Much of the structural issues can be attributed to the age of the building and the antique ventilation systems and fixtures. The rooms are very basic with vintage 1980s furniture and accessories. Cleanliness is not a high priority in the common areas.
Old (100 years) hotel. Looks like it hasn't been renovated for decades. Everything's pretty much falling apart. It would've been out of business a long time ago if it wasn't for the location. Truly terrible place.
For most business trips, you only get to the hotel to sleep and clear mails. Got the 2 essentials here!
my room was prepared even at 8 am, the staff was helpfull, there is shop with gifts opened earlier and later during the day, restaurant - breakfast, dinners, many restaurant around the hotel, fast foods.
First I had a room with window to the light well and I couldn´t sleep at all, because the air condition engines in this well worked the whole night. If you want to have the window opened - really nightmare! You can have the room with the window to the street and the price is 5 dollars higher, but nobody says it to you in advance! They changed the room for me at the end.... Hotel announced the possibility to have the fridge, but even they confirmed it to me before, I had no fridge here. The hotel and furniture are pretty old, but for the short stay they are OK.
Location ok God part of town close to train
Dirty carpet, old sheets but clean, smelled liked a hospital, wiped chair handles with wipe and was dirty. Old and needs to be renvented. TV broken
We want to thank the Hotel for the free upgrade to another room after arriving checking in and not being happy with our first room! The second room was bigger and had a 5th floor front view from the hotel. It was very comfortable and had so much history which can't be found in a newer hotel. The hotel is not dirty it is very clean but is old and not modern but we wanted to see the DC history so for us it was what we were looking for so we enjoyed all this old hotel shared with us and very much enjoyed our stay here.
The DC traffic that started much earlier than we are used too? But for us this Hotel we found special and had no complaints.
Location was the best factor. Accessibility to popular tourist sites, metro, restaurants are a plus. However, I think with due diligence one can find a hotel at same price with the same amenities.
A hotel can be old and with old comes more diligent cleaning. I feel the hotel is tired and warn out. It gets a lot of business from school groups and foreign visitors, I think it can afford some upkeep. We travel to NYC a lot and stay in a very economical hotel with no amenities, yet that hotel always looks as if staff is trying really hard to make it inviting. I read all the reviews and thought I knew what we were getting into, but even I was surprised.
The location is ideal within a short distance of the White House and other significant landmarks. Despite being a busy hotel, it is quiet at night. Some staff were very helpful. It is easy to get to from the airport using the Supershuttle. The hotel is 100 years old and has a lot of character which we like.
The hotel is greatly in need of some TLC. Our room had badly scuffed skirtingboards and the paint needed touching up on doors etc.The carpet in the room as well as those throughout the hotel have seen better days. It is such a pity as the hotel has some lovely old features which need maintaining. It would be a lovely hotel if the necessary maintenance work was carried out. Some staff appeared worldweary.
Very shabby and worn; wi-fi didn't work, TV's are old and frequently settle into fuzz, towels are small, no shampoo, rude desk clerks
The staff of the hotel is firendly and welcoming. The location of the hotel is strategic; it is close to most of the amenities of DC.
The hotel is very old which can be a plus but the interiors need soon to be reniewed because they room assigned to me was in poor conditions: cracked walls, old carpet and ugly furniture. I'm sure the place was clean but the first impression was to be ended up in one of those cheap and dirty hotels. For the prices they ask, I think they should improve the appearance of the place.
easy to walk to prominent sites
good location, inexpensive, quiet
extremely small bathroom, no shampoo or conditioner
We absolutely loved the location of the hotel. For a tourist looking to visit the Capital this is a perfect choice. Beds are comfortable, rooms clean and breakfast at Harriet's adequate and nourishing. For a central, budget priced hotel this met all our expectations.
Excellent location and close to metro (metro center), close to attractions. Friendly staff
Wifi doesn't seem to be working well, always on and off. (I'm on the 5th floor though)
Great location - close to all sightseeing destinations and the metro. Great restaurants very close/walking distance. And even some a short cab ride out. Highly recommend coco sala for a great dining experience.
The hotel is old and hasn't been updated in awhile. The shower would suddenly run scalding water with no warning. The beds were very uncomfortable and old.
The hotel is in the most convenient location for seeing the Washington sights and for transport.
Location is great. Just walk out the door and you can easily walk to all the monuments, museums, art galleries, Smithsonian, etc. The family room was spacious and it was nice to have 2 x Q plus a single bed rather than a rollaway. Lift service was good.
Rooms were a tired. Hallways were musty.Sheets were thin. The hotel is old but it's probably time to start investing in a decent renovation. Continuity of hot water could be investigated.
This hotel is close enough to the main sights to allow you to walk. The staff were helpful.
The cockroach under the sheets! The hotel itself is a bit old fashioned but we would stay there again due to it's location and value for money.
Location was excellent ,breakfast was very good, staff were friendly & helpful & Harry's Bar attached was very good
Slight roll to the middle of the bed
Excellent location, good wi-fi and room facilities. Friendly stuff.
Needed to be renovated. Although in room is quite clean.
Closeness to Ford's theatre and restaurants
Smallness of bathroom
