The staff was extremely knowledgable about the area and was able to answer any question I had with more than enough options to choose from. Because of the location (which is why its cheaper than some other San Francisco hotels) we ended up buying a 3 day bus pass for $22 which allowed us on any bus or cable car. Not a big negative, just an extra cost we weren't expecting.

Conveniently located and well connected. Staff friendly and helpful. Shared bathroom clean and never busy. Very close to a parking garage, much needed if you have a car. Room nr: 308, lack of WiFi signal, inadequate to accommodate two people, smelly.

Excellent location; close to night life and symphony hall. Car was parked right in front of the hotel and was broken into. Not the fault of the hotel, but you would be better off putting your car into a parking lot instead of leaving it on the street.

great location, great price, great places to eat nearby, right in the arts and entertainment district, friendly and helpful staff not much, even sharing bathrooms is not bad because the bathrooms are individualized (not dorm style), only bathrooms 2 per floor

The Hayes Valley Inn is charming and comfortable and the staff is wonderful. While the rooms are small, that is understood up front and in keeping with the price. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. The parlor and kitchen are sweet and homey. You can't beat the location or the price.

The place was very clean and the bed was firm and comfy. Staff friendly. Easy to access shared bathrooms as needed-no waits. Cute neighborhood a little off the beaten path. Could use nicer pillows. If you stay in street side room perhaps bring earplugs as there is a little bit of street noise. But not too bad and I' very picky about that!

Our purpose for travel was a short visit in close proximity to SF Conservatory for an audition. Conveniently close so could walk. Staff went out of their way to assist with airport shuttle and other. Perfect accommodations for our purpose! If you have an elderly person or other limited mobility person-the stairs would prohibit them from staying there. Not a dislike just a comment.
