Good breakfast, good arrive, friendly people
Small bed, shared toilet, very noisy
Restrooms were very clean Lot of restaurants and pubs around The staff is very nice and helpfull Very good breakfast
A bit far from the nearest BART station
Hayes Valley Inn is surrounded by amazing food on all sides. The people were very nice, the room was small but not too small, and the breakfast and tea were well liked. Overall, we would definitely come back!
The only bad things I can say about Hayes Valley Inn are petty: there's a lot of stairs, and you have to share a bathroom with the other people on your floor.
The staff are super friendly. They serve an amazing selection for breakfast (continental), also there are cookies and a hit beverage from 4pm. I liked the shopping area.
No lift but I knew this was the case. I was on the third floor so be aware if you have heavy bags. The WC and shower facilities are shared per floor.
The location is perfect. Hayes valley (the neighbourhood) is clean, feels safe and is near good restaurants and bars. The hotel was very comfortable, but nothing fancy. Pretty rooms.
The breakfast isn't very good and the street is quite noisy.
Very friendly and helpful staff, familiar atmosphere of the hotel. Excellent breakfast. Good hotel location.
Shared bathroom and shower
Well located, close to the Opera and Symphony Hall. Easy access to any point in the town. Lots of restaurants around. Easy parking nearby (U$ 20/day). Price is OK, when compared to other options in San Francisco.
Wi-fi free but very slow, very old and small sized TV sets, I was given a loud room, with windows opening to the exhaustion system of the neighboring restaurant (and there is no air-conditioning). The second room I was offered was better, but unfortunately the bathroom was not the cleaniest.
Smelled little funny but not terrible. I'd still come back.
Quaint, nice staff, a change of pace for old guy like me. Glad I finally tried it but would not return.
Little sound-proofing, just an ill-fitting door between my room and adjoining...could hear each other even when trying to be quiet. Basic shared bath facilities, only for the young-at-heart and adventurous
The staff is amazing and staying at hayes valley inn is a great experience and beautiful area!
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful on what must have been a very busy weekend. Beds were comfortable and clean.
Our stay at Hayes Valley Inn was wonderful...the staff is friendly and accommodating, rooms and bathrooms are super clean, and the neighborhood is lovely and in a great central location....easy to get to all of the sights!!!! I will definitely return if I plan another trip to San Francisco! Highly recommend.
- Comfortable beds - Clean bathroom, although shared (!) - Good location - Friendly, helpfull staff
- Unacceptable breakfast (hair on waffles; not quite big choice) - Not sound proof rooms - No elevator
Very friendly and helpful staff, well placed for getting around SF, and for eating places in the evening.
The shared bathroom and toilet were no problem.
Very friendly people in the hotel, especially at the front desk! Fresh breakfast! Situated in a cozy area in san francisco, with nice cafes and restaurants!
Bed squeaked a lot and should be changed!
The friendly and helpful service. Dennis at the reception desk was very welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable. Great location, good restaurants in the areas and easy access to downtown.
The inn has a bed & breakfast syle, which is really nice! General kitchen where excellent breakfast is served, talking to other guests is easy since there is one large table instead of separate tables for each party. In the afternoon and evening there are cookies and tea for those who like. Staff is very helpful whenever you have a question. The place is furnished in an old-fashioned style, making it feel like a home more than a hotel.
The bed was comfortable and the wash basin in the room served its purpose. There was plenty of room for us to unpack, store and hang our clothes. We enjoyed the large cookies and tea provided in the afternoons in the living area.
There was nothing that we did not like.
Staff & location
No water pressure in shower
Many nice restaurants in the neighbourhood. Friendly hosts. Good breakfast. Clean bathrooms and restrooms.
The location in Hayes Valley is perfect! We stayed four nights and had great informal breakfast every morning. Though the bath and toilets are shared they were spotless all the time although we never saw a staff member at any time. The rooms are small but nicely decorated and the whole inn has a down-to-earth "underdressed" feeling that suited our stay in San Francisco!
A perfect place to stay in San Fran - so nothing bad to say and in fact we've already booked our next stay!
great breakfast friendly staff
not used to shared bath
Really well maintained; clean; small; cute; super location; breakfast; tea; newspaper; historic SF pictures on the walls.
Like all hotels, carpet in the room needed 'steam' cleaning.
The location was good, a short walk to many restaurants and to the trolley so we didn't have to try to find another parking spot close to the Inn.
The ceiling fan squeaked all night long making sleep difficult but it would have been stuffy without it. Parking wasn't very convenient. Lots of tow away zones and no parking areas. The closest parking garage was full so we parked on the street only to find out we needed to move our car to accommodate the street sweeper.
