All you're looking for is a good place to sleep that's close to the park. Denali Park Hotel met all our needs. We were camping right before our trek into the park. We got the tiny bit of sleep we needed, and headed out into Denali. Staff was very friendly. They sell small snacks at cost, which was enough for breakfast. Woke up to a great view of the mountains. Salmon Bake and a chain of other seasonal restaurants are not too far a drive south. I would recommend eating before you settle in for the night.
It's not really around much else besides the park. Did the job though.
The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Over all, with the price, it is the best deal near Denali NP!
Price was affordable and only 11 miles from Delani park.
Very dated decor and window. No restaurant on site.
Clean neat lodging at relatively close distance to the Park entrance.
Nothing special. Looked a little like a trailer park, albeit a clean one.
Had a great 4 day stay here. Nothing fancy but friendly staff willing to give local advice. Saw the Northern Lights to which was a bonus for September!
My daughter-in-law and myself were traveling together. When we arrived at 2:15 pm, we were greeted with the staff person yelling at us because we were early and check in was not until 3:00. She then went on to yell at me and said, "I don't know how you got the reservation, there's no credit card on file." When I tried to tell her that the site told me I didn't need a credit card and we were to pay when we got there, she continued to snap at us and say, "Well, you're here now, so we'll get you a room." That treatment should have told us not to have checked in. When we arrived at the room, it was dark, dingy, smelly, and there was a man lingering around glaring at us. We put our luggage in the room and then went out to see the town. While we were doing that, I received a phone call and had an emergency back home so we had to leave and return to my sons home in Anchorage. So were weren't even going to be able to stay. We returned to the room and put our luggage back in our car and I went to the office to see if I could receive a refund since we hadn't even used the room and it was only about 2 hours later. There was a different staff person at the desk this time and she said she would have to check with her boss. So she called someone on the phone and explained the situation and we were told that there was no way our money could be refunded. I think they should have been a little more understanding and at least refunded a portion of our money since the room was never used except for our luggage for a couple of hours. Nothing was touched in the room, luggage wasn't even opened. Reputable hotels make exceptions to the rules. But this was not a reputable motel. I will be sure to share my experience with everyone I know that travels to this area and make sure they never stay there.
Convenient to Denali
Bed was not comfortable
Place offered basic motel rooms. very, very pleased that we never heard any of other guests once they were in their rooms. With no construction it's only 10-15 minute drive to Denali
Could use new mattresses. With construction need to allow more drive time to Denali
Price/Value. Location not far from Park and Healy.
Washbasin in the room not bathroom. Construction delays on the road out front meant we had to leave 1hr before scheduled bus departure.
Staff was pleasant. Room was clean. The view was beautiful. The price was good. It was a pleasant stay.
We were referred to a restaurant nearby called "black Diamond". It was absolutely awful. Terrible food, terrible service and way over priced. They may need help from Gordon Ramsey. Should have just eaten the snacks they had for sale at the hotel.
This is a very basic. clean motel. It is reasonably priced rates for the region. It was worth driving 11 miles north of the Denali Park entrance. Good meals are available within a mile of the hotel.
Goor price. Big room.
It is fine.
Not worth for the value.
Clean, well appointed room, near the highway, with microwave, and other facilities needed for stay. Unique reception lobby!
Not the hotel's fault. But, hardly any food available for vegetarians in the restaurant. One has to go to Denali to eat.
Liked the fact that this hotel was approx 11 miles from Denali Park entrance and the better for not being in the tourist trap of accommodation at the Park entrance. Usually only a 10 - 15 minute drive to park entrance. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Nice mountain views from hotel rooms. The Black Diamond restaurant a minute up the road serves good quality food and very reasonably priced.
The road construction outside the hotel which can make your drive to a Denali park take 45 minutes instead of 10-15 minutes but this outside the control of the hotel.
Proximity to Denali Park Entrance
Ice was in bags in the office refrigerator and you were limited access to it. Room smelled fiercely of cleaning fluids. No WIFI. Dingy facility. Originally drove up to up, I came close to cancelling our stay and locating other accomodations. It wasn't terrible though after airing out the room.
Close to the park.
Way overpriced for what you get!
Friendly staff, near enough to the National Park, clean, good value, fridge and micro helpful, spacious room, parking right in front of your door.
Clean & close to Healy and the Park. Also close to Black Diamond Grill and Otto Lake. Both very nice places.
The door stuck and made too much noise when closing it but my husband fixed it. Could not get on the internet at night but early in the morning it worked fine.
Liked the location, price, and quiet
Only that we only stayed two nights.
Location. This is the best value hotel closest to Denali park.
Smell of the room was not pleasant but we opened window and fresh air removed all unpleasant smell
