Location was great.
Checking in time, no parking provided
Clean, cool and a great location.
A dresser would be nice for an extended stay. But really... It was great.
location, spotless rooms, value for money
Comfortable, clean.very close to Bart station,Cable Car.union square. Many restaurants and shopping.
Décor was nice - bed was comfortable
Our bathroom smelled extremely musty and sour.
Location is very lively, next to startbucks
Heater was not so good
I liked the location and the style of the hotel
I didnt like that there was no bathroom and shower in our room if we would have known we would have paid extra for the bathroom
Free WI-FI Great location Cheap price Awesome store next door (Walgreens) with fresh sushi, an impressive wine selection, fresh fruit smoothies
Location, staff, window double glazing for quiet, great room styling, shower, bed and cable. Suspect we only got this great a price due to downstairs renovations however.
The location was fantastic, close to the Bart, the trolley and main shops.
the heating came on very loudly at 4.30 a.m each morning
A little sparse, but not a big deal.
Location was good, although very noisy at night.
Aware there was a shared bathroom, this would have been ok had the bathroom been clean - it wasn't. The toilet was blocked on one morning so we had to go to another floor. It would be better if there were at least sinks in the rooms and clean shared areas. Wifi was patchy. Staff weren't that helpful, the safe was broken for two days and we had to ask about 10 times to get it fixed. Overall wouldn't recommend.
Location, Cleanliness, Price
location for my business & shopping.
no amenities, towels worned out
Cleaner than hoped Convenient to union square
Could still imagine what it once was.
Location is the best. Good value for the money.
None of the rooms have desks! I asked the people I was traveling with to confirm it wasn't just my room. The room I was in was big enough so this could easily be accomplished
- simple and comfortable room, just what I needed - great value for money (deep discounts in January)
- the room seem overheated and it was not obvious how to turn down the temperature
Bed was too soft for us, room is rather small, but clean, no drawers, but in total good value for money
We can here everything - even whisper of our neighbours
Location location location! We choose this hotel purely on the fact that it was right in the middle of town, but everything else about the Herbert was sensational. Clean tidy well renovated rooms, very helpful friendly staff, and a fresh quirky design. Will be rebooking here in the future.
the bed was comfy, the room was pretty clean. there was lots of space in the room for a sink so there's the opportunity for improvement.
I booked a simple budget room with a shared bathroom which, in the pictures, had a sink in it. Now when we arrived they gave us a room without a sink, and because I suspect many others did have their sinks in their bedroom, there was no sink area in the shared bathroom either. this meant having to brush teeth and wash face in the toiet sink which was too small even to wash your hands in.
Great location, clean, bright, with a European feel. On a week when most hotels were $400. and up $150. a night was a super deal.
Door way under construction.
The location is great. We had two different rooms (the first night a standard queen with private bathroom, followed by a 3-nights deluxe queen room with private bathroom). The difference is huge, like one would stay in two different hotels...
I had a booking in a deluxe room with private bathroom for 3 nights, and realised too late that we need to be in San Francisco earlier by one night. The hotel did not have anymore available deluxe rooms, therefore we booked for 1 night a standard queen room with private bathroom. Actually we received a "student single room with private bathroom", very small, not too clean and cold, as the heating was insufficient.
I stayed 3 nights in a deluxe queen room with private bathroom. The room was big and clean and had a lot of light, and the bed was very comfortable. Location is great, and the staff was kind.
The heating was not the best; the nights were cold outside, and the room's heating over night was not sufficient.
Great location: 20 minutes walking to Chinatown, 30 minutes walking to City Hall. Very close to bus lines, Bart and Cable Car stations. It is located at Union Square, where we enjoyed walking on the street at night and shopping at all nice department stores. It was a lot of fun.
The building is old.
Good location, conenience.
Limited public space.
