location is great, close to main tour sights.
the soundproof of the room is terrible.
The beds were very comfortable and the location is paramount if you are looking for brand name shopping. The rooms were clean and minimalist. The staff is very helpful.
We booked a room with a "shared" bathroom but there was actually only one bathroom for all of the smaller rooms to share among the whole wing of that floor. The volume on the TV did not work and was not fixed during our stay. If you ask for your luggage to be held, they will use a luggage lock to tie it to the railing in a side room, but here is no actual secured room to store it in.
Great location. One block from the trolley, bus, Bart and info center. Spacious clean room with private bath. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Good value for the money as hotels in San Francisco are expensive.
Minor issues being phone in room did not work, wifi password changed mid week and we were not notified until we asked the front desk.
Clean with comfy bed
Small room, private bathroom too small to house the sink which was in the bedroom. No wardrobe or drawers just a coat hook. Nowhere to put toiletries . Tea, coffee and cups not replenished after day one. Vastly overpriced.
no bathroom at the the room no working coffee machine concrete beam in 20 degree angle in room right over middle of the bed.
location was fabulous- step out right into the heart of Powell st and tramcars, with easy access to many places. A Walgreen's 2 doors away which have lovely fresh food, and lots of cafes and restaurants nearby
Shared toilets needed cleaning a little more regularly.
Loved the location and night times
The rooms are extremely small. Single bed we had was too short even though I am 1.72 my feet was out of bed.
The location and friendly help from staff, the decor,
Although in a perfect central location the room was quiet (for a big city) and the hotel had plenty of character and a nice welcoming atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and the wifi worked!
Minimal room extras.
The location near the BART was great, and it was what we needed for the price.
Slow elevator, the first two floors are international student housing/homeless shelter, and not clean. If you avoid those floors you'll never know, but I went to use the lobby bathroom there and was not pleased. You would never know it from the trendy looking lobby. No air conditioning, and no desk. We had to sleep with the window open and it was very noisy.
Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. I had a 'superior' room to have a private bathroom. Comfy bed and despite being on a busy road the windows blocked out almost all noise. Stylish design throughout property, sister cafe round the corner perfect for breakfast and serves great coffee.
In other cities this hotel would be expensive but this is down to San Fransisco rates, it's a pricey city and I stayed at a peak time of year. There was no minibar, a mini-fridge would be enough to keep a bottle of water cool.
Loved the size of the room. It was clean had a comfortable bed, nice bathroom in my room. Very cool staff. The location was awesome. Plenty of restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping. Also, plenty of transportation options too!
The music at the middle of the night was really disturbing. Very hard to sleep during it from 11 pm -3 am in the morning and I was there Wednesday - Friday morning.
Location was fabulous and staff were wonderful.
Sirens at night were a bit disturbing but we were so tired we slept well anyway.
Loft style bare brick rooms give a perfect sense of urban Calofornia dwelling. Perfect for a downtown short stay in central San Fran!
THE SHARED BATHROOM WAS AWESOME!
The Herbert was convenient and clean, it had WiFi that actually worked and a kettle for making tea. We did hear some bad kareoke from the pub on the other side and some construction noise next door, but other than that we really enjoyed staying at the Herbert and recommend it highly.
Its a bit noisy but it's in the heart of a busy area so you'll have to expect that.
The best is the location, in the centre of Union Square. We got a very good offer so the price was perfect to be in San Francisco. Personal very friendly. Free wifi and with very good availability. The room was a good size and very clean.
They should change the structure of the bed. The mattress was nice but the structure create a valley very uncomfortable. Breakfast should be an other positive point.
great location for the all activities , walking, tours, cablecars, also long term car parking close by. reasonble rates too.
In down town
Location, cheaper, washing machine. Next to supermarket fridge in room, bath tub,
Can be noisy...if not at back of hotel...
The location is the best this hotel has to offer.
Unresponsive manager and unhelpful staff. We had issues with the room and are still waiting a week later for resolution.
Beds comfortable and bright interior. Open windows
No desk or dresser Broken light fixure on bed No coffee in lobby
The staff is wonderful. Gabby is such a sweetheart and really made my stay there awesome. The room was adorable and clean. A++++
