Location is great, close to BART and Union Square. Staff friendly, rooms small but renovated nicely
Shower/Toilet in the hall is ok for 1-2days but not for longer stay
Love the location, clean rooms, accommodating staff!
Rooms were cute but mostly it was the staff. Your front desk staff is very accommodating and super helpful. Rooms were very clean.
Music too late into the night from surrounding area hotel or bar. Not the hotels fault because they are centrally located..I'm just old and crabby :)
Limited facilities in hotel and lack of comfort in the room. No bedside table, insufficient seating.
Location is fantastic. Rooms were clean. Reasonably priced for downtown. I felt safe and comfortable. I would return again but invest in the private bathroom. The Bangkok Thai restaurant across the street is very good and cheap!
The first night @midnight, my overhead room light (which was connected to a running ceiling fan) came on suddenly. This happened several times and I called the front desk person who came up promptly; however, he was unable to solve the problem either. We solved the problem by turning off the light and ceiling fan (which was hot since it was a heat wave). But, they rectified the situation the next morning by moving me to a new room (with a full private bathroom) which was greatly appreciated. I enjoyed the rest of my stay. Fyi, the room I had on the first night (where I shared bathroom/shower with 4 other rooms) had no hooks to hang bath towels or clothes. This was frustrating as I was travelling on business and wanted to keep clothes wrinkle-free. Hooks would be a great investment in the rooms, bathroom and shower to keep things tidy and off the floor.
Everything was perfect one of my friends was real iffy about staying here I was scared to open our door and we were blown away cause it was a great room and not expecting it there were 3 travellers and space in room was perfect and with a fridge was a bonus very happy will recommend
Location is key. Very close to where i needed to be and at night all the buzz was around. Spacious room.
I missed a desk in the room. Also closet is very small. There was little oxygen in the room and i could not really open the windows. It is also noisy at night when your room is facing powell.
-The soap and shampoo dispensers -Sink in the rooms
-Low toilet water flow -Some rooms very small -
Hotel's location near public transport and shops
Receptionist didn't answer calls from our room. No table or desk.
I had a deluxe room which means a private bathroom. Bed was super comfy and it was surprisingly quiet at night, I didn't hear anything. No closet, but useful rack, hooks and hangers. No desk for a businessperson but they don't advertise that so it was fine. Bare basics in the room but clean, comfortable, and friendly. There is so much in the neighborhood you don't need much in the room.
A small refrigerator would be amazing but fine without it. No complaints.
Excellent location just a short walk to Union Square. It was pretty quiet with the window closed - could barely hear the trolley bells. The room was clean and bright and the bed was comfortable. With all the hotels in town booked out for Dreamforce, it was a pleasant surprise at how good this place was, especially as it was booked last minute. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Could hear the people in the next room talking clearly.
We never got any response when we rang the front desk ever though it was always attended by one person. The establishment was more like a boarding house. We didn't cancel because the location was close to public transport.
The price was excellent, and the location was great. Very close to Union Square, the Powell St. Bart station, and in the heart of the best shopping in the city.
We had a room with a private bathroom, but most rooms have shared toilet/shower.
I liked the location of The Herbert. It is close to many great restaurants. It is close to Union Square It is close to Powell Street Station. It is close to Market Street.
The lobby is small and quickly becomes crowded. I can't think of anything else.
Central, comfy bed, spacious, cable car stop and Walgreens right outside with Macys across the road.
Floors were a little dirty other tgan that all was good. Would stay again for sure.
Just a quick walk from the Powell street Bart station and in an excellent location for all the attractions. The bed was extremely comfortable and room facilities good. If you have a late flight they offer a very safe and secure baggage storage for free. Highly recommended stay.
We had a room that is normally a family room and so the bathroom is in the middle of two rooms. When used just as a bedroom with ensuite, there is a bit of noise from the other room but minimised with the bathroom door closed. The hot water system seemed only to cope with one hot shower. This may have been an anomaly.
This hotel has a great location in Union Square with Walgreens next door for breakfast and snack items. Room spacious and very clean. Wi-Fi excellent. Really enjoyed our stay.
My room key was given to other occupants and was rudely awoken at 3am. My fiancé and I were in our nightly clothes when this incident occurred. This embarrassing situation has yet to be resolved within a timely matter. I asked for a call back and resolution from Kevin the front desk clerk but no one has reached out to me within 48 hours. This is n
Matress, localisation, staff, 'price' considering sf standard...
No breakfast, common bathroom really inconvenient (small and not enough), some noise from the street
The staff and location were excellent
Location was great during the day for getting around
If you want to sleep at night take some really good eap plugs and sleeping pills.
excellent location - on Powell St - Union Square; verry close to BART station.
price (but anyway, we could not find any better option in this price). hotel is very old.
The location was amazing and the staff were very helpful!
Granted it was unseasonably hot in San Fran when were there and with the room getting the afternoon sun the room was really hot with no fan or cooling
One of the Front Desk Staff was just great ! Thanks for her great attitude. Laundry service, kitchen is so appreciable. Very clean, and location is very very good (All ground transportations and activities around around the hotel)
The front desk "Manager" should learn how to be polite and how to smile, at least a little bit !!! Nothing else than a Bed in the room (small desk or table would have been grate)
Location could not have been better. Beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious. A great hotel to feel the atmosphere of SF and make the best of that gorgeous city..
Some more wall hangers would be good for lifting up stuff scattering around :)
