too far from metro station.
room is big and very quiet. bed is comfortable and the staff was very nice!
I like art, but when it is used to cover up poor quality (e.g. materials used in the bathroom) I like it less. We booked a studio, but it was just a room, nothing extra. Not bad, just: don't make our expectations higher than you can deliver. No coffee or tea making facilities. Full minibar, which meant no room to put your own bottle of water. And we were charged for a drink we didn't have - we may have replaced the drinks into the fridge differently, but that's no reason to charge us.
The beds were comfy, the breakfast buffet looked very poor so we chose the à la carte, which was pretty good.
Noise from janitor room next door
Not very good flushing power on the 6th floor, toilet got clogged twice for no apparent reason. Parking with tax $53 a day :(
Walking distance to the White House, Smithsoinan and Wahingtion Monument. Plenty of neighborhood shops and restaurants, eclectic furnishings, overall fun place to stay.
I made my reservations through Booking.Com. Booking did not disclose and state Helix never disclosed a $100 per day incidental fee. The attitude of the Helix manager on duty who actually says this to mr was "you should hand called the hotel to find out how much the daily incidental charges are" all the while admitting the website only says incidental charge. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again or any Kimpton Hotel.
Ambience and decor are awesome. Nice rooms, great service, great value and just a fun place to stay.
Room service charges are not transparent and worked out to be as expensive as our meal. They also got the order wrong. But we mentioned this to the staff upon checking out and they took this off our bill
Staff were extremely friendly
rooms are fun, but are starting to show their wear and tear. Very slow elevators.
nice vibe, fun decor, and a great location just off a lively area
Continental breakfast isn't the greatest, particularly given the relatively expensive $14 cost. My advice is to eat out for breakfast. Also, there are no tea and coffee facilities provided, either in the room (not surprising for a US hotel) or in the foyer / at reception.
Comfortable bed and room in a small and friendly boutique hotel. Free wifi was excellent, both in terms of speed and reliability. Hotel offers range of toiletries for guests who have forgotten to pack items.
friendly and efficient staff, comfortable bed, the food was reasonably priced and surprisingly delicious
Recommened: Whole foods Market in walking distance in P Street.
Continental breakfast could be better for 14 USD!!
Great Location, service, clean, big rooms... I was for business and it is obvious that the look is not the traditional business hotel but it is great. Well, I love find a door with the picture of Jimi Hendrix ;). The room is big and you can work comfortably. The lounge is not for working, it is just for drink something, good music, etc... but forget to work or have a meeting in the hotel, lounge is noisy and with lights that change the color. But anyway if you need a meeting rooms in Washington DC there are a lot. I will repeat, sure.
Paid the valet 50 bucks to damage my truck
No sitting area as describedon bookings.com site, so a ddisappointment. No place for food trays , one desk chair. Did use ironing board as table in keeping with funky style.
Great staff, very accommodating, valet parking a real plus although no bargain. Good quality restaurant and fast room service. Funky decor , a little dated and worn, worth a stay.
Overly 'hip' decor In-room dining is spotty - missing/wrong items, cold food Helix lounge - even worse service (LONG), short hours Houskeeping: Never got to our room on first day. Very late on 2nd day. Not great. Overall: there were small things daily that were annoying and not top-notch. All staff could use a little better training. However, they were friendly. Beware the 2 slow, crowded elevators.
Location - near Logan Circle Great price for D.C. - just over $100/ni. Check-in was smooth, average. 'Free wine' cards because we missed a nightly happy hour. Rooms seem good size. Internet did work - and is FREE, a bonus. Bathroom adequate. Recommend if you are looking for a hotel bargain and don't mind less than perfect service, other quirks
they gave me back deposit caution after 1 month
Had dinner on site. Selection is very limited. It took 10-15 minutes for someone to come take my order. At the end of my meal, while you have a chance to review your bill when charged to your room, not here. This was rather unprofessional. I like to decide how much to tip, and not have someone else decide for me... especially when the service is substandard.
The property is well located, clean and staff is friendly. The style of the hotel is unusually cutting-edge and rather appealing. But it may put off some people.
If I have to find something - the bathroom was a little small
Individual style, great design Yoga mat in room! Different very yummy food Great bar with free wine 17-18hrs Great, big, light room Loan bikes Staff really made the place special
50.00 for overnight parking is ridiculous. That should be mentioned when booking.
The decor of the hotel was very modern and unique
Hurried front desk staff Hallways a little run down looking Expensive parking
Great comfort Clean room Comfortable bed Unique atmosphere Great value and location
The Bathroom was filthy. There were still items - such as a used bar of soap -- from the last resident. the hotel staff did nothing when I told them and did not seem to even realize that this is a problem.
A bit of a walk to the national mall. But if you take taxis you'll be fine.
The style of the room. Plus they gave us a free upgrade to a larger room. Very accommodating and friendly staff. The feel of the room was retro, which I loved.
Staff is awesome
The room I stayed in was right next door to the housekeeper closet, we constantly heard banging & noises against the wall. Also when someone would leave out their room, the door to our room would shake as if someone was trying to get in, a little creepy.
Didn't see coffee pot note in BA till paid room service $15 for carafe. Radiator noise? Cot impossible for any so 16yo slept on sm.seatee w/ott. Bar trashed floor in am breakfast time but mgr. excellent start to day.
Decor and breakfast manager. Something for everyone on menus.
