rooms/baths need refurbishment. rooms are stuck in the 80ies. Especially the baths need improvement, cleanlinessof baths are sub-par, too. typical NYC Hotel Problem, however.
Location. Park view is spectacular.
A hotel should make new guests feel welcome. There was a line of about 9 guests to check in -- and gruff check-in staff too! Leona Helmsley once stood guard here - but now I guess no one is managing the staff!
Facilities and staff can be improved big time. Business center needs improvement as well.
We booked a junior suite with a magnificent view of the Central Park. The location is excellent adjacent to Central Park and shopping at fifth avenue, 10-15 minutes walking to Times Square.
The bathroom is very old, the bath tub as well and there is no hand shower.
Best value around Central Park
Towels threadbare and torn, front staff too busy chatting with each other and chauffeurs to pay attention to arriving guests.
Breakfast too expensive
Quiet room in midtown. Central Park !
Considering the price per night I would expect the Wi-Fi to be free and the breakfast to be included! The bed and pillows were not confortable at all! The hairdrier in the room was not working and was never repaired despite my warning to the reception.. I had to spend 30$ in a shop to get a new one!!
Very good and strategic position, the room was very clean and very kind personnel!
Some of the staff were a bit timid. If you are offering free treats and drinks as part of the hotel stay, it is understandable that the price is built into the guest's bill. While some guests can abuse this feature, this did not justify some of the staff being timid and unfriendly at times. The concierge were another negative experience we encountered. The only advise they offered us as tourists was the map. There was a reluctancy to answer any of our questions, making us almost feel guilty for asking. In short, this hotel has its location going for it but I would not stay here again before the rooms get renovated. I would recommend at the least upgrading the bathrooms first. Our tub's base was chipping away, as an example. The cleanliness of the bed sheets, the carpet, and the bathroom did however make up for it to some extent. For that I would like to thank the house keeping staff.
The hotel's location by Central Park and the great dining room overlooking the park, made our stay special. We got a room with a great view following our request to the hotel via booking.com, which we appreciated. Most of the staff were friendly, which says a lot given that this is New York.
No refrigerator in the room
Room wonderful space
Our safe in the room was broken.. They did offer us another room but I would have preferred it till be fixed while there.. We used safety deposit box at reception so was a bit of annoyance..
Great location our view was first class.. And we enjoyed the nibbles and drinks between 5-7pm..
We had a wonderful trip to NYC and Park Lane had a great deal to do with that. The Central Park view from our window was phenomenal! Perfect location for subway convenience, shopping, and finding a place to eat. An unexpected snow cancelled our flight and the hotel worked it out so that we could stay in our same room for two nights without having to pack up and move. The Manager's Reception each evening was a bonus, as well!
Excellent staff rooms comfortable and clean , great location short walk to 5 th avenue and across from Central Park.
Concierge fell through on sending a surprise gift to our room which was ordered by our kids on the first day. Finally sent it 3 days later only after my daughter called and asked where is it??
It is a bed factory Really noisey No water in room Have to pay for wifi and fix charges of 30 us without needing the bundle!
The additional and unexpected $30 per day (plus taxes) service charge.
The location and proximity to Times Square, 5th Avenue and Broadway.
Beautiful location. Comfortable beds.
Hotel has noticeably aged, and is not being kept up by the real estate group that now owns it Wall coverings in the room were torn; carpets and furniture spotted with stains. $30 per day "resort fee" is cheesy.
Didn't like paying almost $5.00 for a cup of poor coffee in the lobby every morning. Didn't like the snack and cocktail hour every evening - too many people and not enough food or plates or silverware. No where to sit. I went once during the stay, had a glass of wine in a tumbler and never did get near the food.
Love the location and value of this hotel. Next to the Plaza and the Plaza Market, lower level. Reasonable food at Plaza which is next door.
30$/day for WiFi
Our room was behind the lift shaft, and the sound carried which was particularly disruptive at night. Single glazed windows failed to keep most of the street noise out. Air conditioning was also noisy and ineffective.
Excellent location right by central park.
The facilities charge. Its a bit cheeky and they should build that into the hotel cost or have option not to take it. Its bordering on scandalous really and i'm surprised they can get away with it. I don't think you'd get away with it in the EU
Loved the location. Staff were nice and the hotel was clean and decent sized rooms.
