Some of the staff were a bit timid. If you are offering free treats and drinks as part of the hotel stay, it is understandable that the price is built into the guest's bill. While some guests can abuse this feature, this did not justify some of the staff being timid and unfriendly at times.
The concierge were another negative experience we encountered. The only advise they offered us as tourists was the map. There was a reluctancy to answer any of our questions, making us almost feel guilty for asking.
In short, this hotel has its location going for it but I would not stay here again before the rooms get renovated. I would recommend at the least upgrading the bathrooms first. Our tub's base was chipping away, as an example. The cleanliness of the bed sheets, the carpet, and the bathroom did however make up for it to some extent. For that I would like to thank the house keeping staff.
The hotel's location by Central Park and the great dining room overlooking the park, made our stay special. We got a room with a great view following our request to the hotel via booking.com, which we appreciated. Most of the staff were friendly, which says a lot given that this is New York.
