old world, old money glamour, fabulous apartment like building right on Central Park South. What more could a person ask for? Its a little tattered around the edges, but in a warm lived in feeling. |

Excellent location, offers rooms overlooking central park, near shopping and easy access to museums. Bathroom faucets were used and rather grimy, and room temperature was hard to keep warm although the weekend I was there the weather was extremely cold outside. |

(a) quality of the staff (very friendly and professional), (b) level of services (eg restaurant, concierge, reception, room service, cleaning) and (c) the Hotel’s very convenient location, (d) last but not least, right relationship of price to quality. breakfast could start earlier (to facilitate Europeans suffering the jet lag) |

Its location On arrival we were asked to pay the room cost +an extra $500 just in case we used room service-this was held for another 4 days after we left. Our shopping trip was totally ruined by this unexpected expense and the hotel was unable to accept any debit cards unless pre authorised.Thanks for the warning booking.com!!! |

the hotel's proximity to central park and 5th avenue, along with it's pet-friendly staff, is what brings us back to this hotel. the rooms are lovely, comfortably appointed and offer every amenity. the view from our room on the 29th floor overlooking central park was spectacular. i was a bit disappointed at the condition of the bathroom. it was clean and efficient, but could use a facelift. and, it would have been nice not to be be asked to pay for internet service. |

Excellent location, very helpful staff. Very large comfortable room with a magnificant view of Central Park. Very centrally located for walking around Manhattan, theaters, shopping, etc. This lovely hotel absolutely needs a total remodel. Beds were quite soft. Bathroom very old and unpleasant. I would definately go back if just these two items were improved. |

Excellent Location and friendly staff. However, the hotel is old. I liked staying at the hotel because of its location on the central park and very close to the fifth avenue. Old hotel. but renewed. |

the location is beautiful. the main areas of the hotel are elegant. the bar upstairs was comfortable and relaxing. the service in the bar and restaruant was not good. in the morning for breakfast it took along time for service. then getting the bill was almost impossible. the beds and pillows are very uncomfortable. the rooms need updating. everyone seems unorganized. |

The hotel was perfectly located for meetings in midtown NY. Also well situated for evening entertainment -- dining, plays, movies, etc. Beds were very comfortable and my room was well appointed and nicely decorated. Excellent concierge service. There is only a simple lobby with functional seating; no lobby bar or service. If you want an elegant lobby, this is not the one for you. Rooms above 40th floor have been rennovated; below this level, the rooms need some TLC but are still functional. |

The position is excellent - this was our second visit; we went last year. The restaurant overlooks Central Park and has oodles of ambience No fridge in the bedroom. Notice that threatened that we would be charged for minibar items if we removed them for twenty seconds - hardly welcoming. We were actually charged for a minibar item without touching anything - Reception said it wasn't unusual as the electronics were not very reliable, or the cleaner might have dusted them! |

location, bar was quiet, bartenders nice guys, room clean, good linens, easy to get to, concierge helpful no way to cool off the room, it was too hot, could not get receipt at checkout, computer down, said they would mail it, have not received yet |

Very convenient for Central Park, good views of Park and City We were very pleased to be upgraded. It was a great room, very nice hotel. I do think that it was quite expensive but it is obviously a very high class hotel. We know that it does not appear to be American hotel practise but we would have liked coffee making facilities in our room |

The reception staff was extremely helpful. The view to Central Park is exceptional from this hotel. I like the colorful 'baroque style' room designs. This was my fourth stay at Helmsley Park Lane Hotel and I will surely return here when visiting again New York. |
