The renovated rooms are very comfortable. Great location, very friendly staff.
Family run hotel and it seems they really care about their guests. It's a budget hotel so don't expect luxury but the beds are very comfortable, the room and ensuite impeccably clean and it was very quiet. Free coffee in the lobby and wi fi in the room.
Room rather small and ours overlooked a light well so no view out.
Can't think of a negative
Close to everything! Clean! Comfortable! Everything to our satisfaction. Clean towels every day. Couldn't ask for more! Thank you!
Perhaps coffee throughout the day?
We spent 6 nights at the herald square hotel. Loved the location as it's pretty central for everything. Our room was really clean and comfortable. Great complimentary coffee machine downstairs. Fab wine and chocolate bar next door.
Great location very near Penn Station Great customer service Fascinating historic building Very clean Comfortable beds
Wifi was good when it worked. It was over capacity and best time to use it was middle of night No fan in bathroom
Very close to Penn Station
Worth the money, has everything you need, small rooms are expected in NYC...
comfortable bed, convenient room and bathroom
windows are not sound proof and hear the noise of the street If you are facing the street, for Internet you need to re enter network name and password each time you reuse it
The room was large, clean, and antique. We loved the privacy and convenience of the room and hotel location was great in the middle of all we were there for.
Good base for seeing all that Manhattan has to offer
If you are just looking for a bed in New York then fine, but hotel 'facilities' are nil.
Comfort, cleanliness, clean towels every day.free coffee and teas at lobby. Great location for empire state building, times sq. 15-20 mins walk. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.
Front entrance could be a bit more brighter in colour . That's my own opinion. We had a refurbished bedroom that was comfortable.
small room and dirty carpet. The reception is not friendly .
Nice bathroom, close to MSG.
Extremely dark. .. Very little light from the window facing the back alley.
Cozy, free WiFi, beautiful room with excellent decor.
No mini-fridge or microwave
Cleaniness, informality and friendliness,no doormen and a choice of room .
Noisey air conditioning
I liked the closeness to theaters and shopping.
I don't know whether it's your oversight bit I asked for a room with 2 beds as I was traveling with my granddaughter. When we went to our room there was only 1 bed. We went back downstairs and the hotel clerk informed me that she was changing our room to a 2 bed room to make me happy.
We chose Herald Square Hotel as we wanted somewhere in close proximity to Penn Station as we were doing some train trips. The location is excellent with Penn no more than a 10 minute walk. The customer service was good and courteous and our rooms comfortable. There is tea and coffee available in a room off the foyer at a couple of times a day but it would be great if it were available all day.
The real downside of the hotel is the wifi access which is fickle to say the least.
We were a family travelling with a 13 and 16 year old. We would not hesitate to stay here again! We loved: - the location! Perfect. Easy to get to subway, and sites of interest on foot. - the secure doors in and out - the great coffee/latte machine for a free drink - the stairwell - winding, clean, lovely. (We were on the 9th floor. I used the stairs.) - room: awesome! Two queen beds, excellent sheets, duvet, comfortable mattresses and great space! - loved the room window without screens. We could look around. -wonderful clean bathroom. Super!
- one receptionist seemed a little annoyed with my asking questions. (I needed clarification and it felt like I was irritating her.) - no mirror in the bedroom, only in the bathroom - only one trash can (Only minor things... Easy to improve.)
Room was ok, clean, even had space for a baby crib. Will definetely stay there again. Best hotel you can get for a fair price.
Elevators were slow. It could be nice if they would offer continental breakfast.
Quirky and historic building in a great location with very friendly and helpful staff
Coffee not available after 9pm
The location, access to Penn Station, and access to the subways.
The shower water flow was horrid! It was dripping and not a strong water flow. Also it alternated icxe hold with hot/warm water. They need to fix this! I also didn't like the buzzer system - felt like I was being checked in and out of some kind of prison. The check in staff could be a bit more pleasant.
The staff went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful, as one would expect in a very good hotel.
The parking was at the back of the building on 32nd, and construction made it a bit awkward to get to. But that's not the hotel's fault, and it will improve, making the hotel, well, pretty perfect.
Location is great, stuff friendly. If you only wanna have a good night sleep and do not care about extras etc - you will sleep well here.
No hair-dryer in the room, pretty dark and old facility. Small tv, channel choice not too impressive.
Most of the Main tourist attractions are within walking distance and if you're not into walking the Subway is near. Penn Station is a short walk away with transport connections to all airports.
