Beautiful bathroom with a nice bathtub size.
The windows didn't seal well, especially if the cold wind is blowing. Even though they tried to resolve the issue still you could feel the cold air.
Hotel isn't bad overall- it's not crazy cheap but for New York it's a good budget option. Free coffee machine was a nice touch, and we enjoyed the big plasma TV in the room.
Staff were rude and at times threatening- at one point I had to return across town to hotel as reception had phoned the room twice, and very aggressively told her to "pay your rent or we will remove you"- despite having a copy of my credit card which they had already pre charged. It was a mistake on their part but handled really badly by them, and left us feeling like unwanted visitors, not hotel guests
We had never been to New York and were intimidated and nervous about our choice of hotel...Then we got there and got up into our room. This is a great hotel for the price. Its location is close to shopping and a nice short walk to times square. Grand Central Terminal is also walking distance. The staff and hotel try to go out of there way to help you with anything they can, which was great. Room was very clean and a decent size. Bigger than the pictures show. Loved the Life Magazine pictures on the 7th floor. Bathroom floor was all tile, and very clean. Hot water never once ran out on me when having a shower. This hotel far exceeded our expectations. Staff was great, and easy to deal with. We will stay there again. My wife had a conference at another hotel which was twice the cost, and after being to that other hotel, I had to write a review to recommend this hotel. Excellent.
I can't think of anything...maybe the fact that I had to re-enter my wifi password if I stopped using my internet on my phone for a while. It would time out...but that was a minor thing.
Herald Square is in a great location for the theatre district, midtown area and lower Manhatten. The staff were always very helpful and the rooms we had were spacious, clean and comfortable
The noise of the radiator switching on and off at night was very loud and there was not a lot of natural light due to a security blind being down all the time.
Confortable beds, great location, for the money you are paying in NYC is the best you can get. Free coffee is good in winter cold mornings. The room was very spacious and clean. I would recomend 100%
The location is amazing
The internet was disconnecting and the staff was very very rude all the time
Free wi-fi. Beverages available in lobby. Very comfortable bed. Helpful staff. Visited when extremely cold - hotel was lovely and warm.
Beverages not available 24/7. Water took a long time to reach hot and initially not sure if going to get hot enough.
great location. staff very helpful. tidy & clean.
no coffee/tea making facility in rooms.
for myself i found the location central to where i had to go staff where always helpful whenever i had questions .
hot water took a few minutes to arrive however have to consider being on the seventh floor was part of the problem
The Room was good, the bathroom was excellent
I didn't like that the parking was so far away
The Roomwhen I was eventually moved because of noise of a generator outside my window that gave absolutly no light. The room to which I was Changed was good with light from the window and not a lot of noise, in fact if I had been given that roomin the first place I would have been very happy. .
The room I was given on arrival, my friends room was even worse. NO natural light small and A LOUD NOISE at NIGHT from the building next door,my friend asked twice to be moved but this was refused,as they said they were full. WE WERE BOOKED in for 11 nights and had been booked for some time. It was only when I rang and said I was sick of the noise and not sleeping because of it that we were changed the next day. THEY NEW about the NOISE the man who came to my room said It was a Generator from the building next door.
Loved how close it was to everything. Loved our room big compared to NY standards
No continental breakfast
- The location was the only decent thing. Right around the corner from empire state. And 10-15min walk to Times Square and main stop for hop on and hop off tours.
- staff were not at all friendly and not one bit helpful. - Upon arriving the room, looked NOTHING like the pictures spoofed it up to be. Shower and taps were clogging. When asked about the room and pictures at front desk we were told we were looking at 'renovated room' pictures. We advised they were the pictures given for the room when we paid for it online! Were told the renovated room would cost more. - Room did not feel welcoming one bit. - wifi continually prompts for password. And continually required logging in everytime you pick up your phone or shut phone off. - No facilities what so ever in room. When rang to ask for a hair dryer after a shower and realising there was none in the room, the lady at the front desk in a blunt tone replied 'dryers at the front counter, you can come down and pick it up'. Power point outlets are a joke! None in the bathroom and located in a horrible spot in the middle of the wall. TV remote wasn't working. Would not stay here again. Or reccommend to friends.
We had 2 refurbished Queen rooms. They were spotlessly clean and luxurious. The tea/coffee machine in the lobby went down a treat!
It's a shame that Manhattan's busy skyline means there's not always a lot to enjoy out of certain windows of the hotel, but the beauty of the interior of the room made up for it!
Ideally situated in mid-town off of Broadway, close to the subway and Penn Station. One block from the Empire State Building.
Lack of natural light in room. Windows faced interior and being on first floor meant it was very dark in the room.
Clean room & helpful staff
Shabby lobby Broken toilet
Right off Broadway with easy access to trains going up/downtown, yet not exorbitantly expensive. Rooms were quite large with a beautiful marbled bathroom. Staff very nice and efficient.
Lobby felt like a lowbrow bank: employees behind thick glass, slide your info in the slots underneath. Yet they still let anyone in the place (despite the registered guests only sign: no keys checked, my friend came up without a checkover). Hallways bare and tiled like an old office building. The rooms were sparsely decorated but roomy
View from the room, most staff was very friendly, location perfect
Very warm room
everything !!! The beds are so comfortable
Our experience was good because i had paid for an upgrade but i had booked a larger room for my daughter, son in law and 2 kids and their experience was not. We did find the sttaff very friendly
The second room booked for my daughters family was very dissappointing... The heater was leaking badly, nothing done except given towels to lay on floor where carpet was wet. The musty smell was terrible especially when children were sleeping there.. No hairdryer supplied. 4 people in the room only given towels for three and Not given shampoo and conditioner.. Coffee machine not always working..
Quiet, quality bedding and towels, and clean.
Cable and wifi need improvement.
Bed was very comfortable Bathroom looked brand new Spacious, especially so by NY standards Room had a patio! View of the Empire State Building. Sort of.
Fire alarm in the hall needed a new battery. Chirp, Chirp, Chirp. Told staff twice about it but.... Water pressure was weak.
Excellent coffee machine in lounge.
Former Life magazine building, so lots of history. Marble bathroom with deep tub and large shower head very nice. Recently updated room. Room is small, but that's NYC. I will stay there again and again. Also, liked the lockers available for luggage on check out day as I had a late flight. One street down from Korea Way, so lots of eating opportunities.
Not far from Penn Station so it was easy to get to and from the hotel. Friendly staff. Was surprised to learn that it's family owned!
Only one key per room! They will hold it at the front desk if you are coming and going on different schedules with your travel partner. For us it wasn't a problem but still odd.
