Great location close to Penn and subways Interesting historic building Comfortable beds
The wifi was awful - intermittent connectivity and had to sugn in all the time Coffee and tea only available for limited hours
Location and helpful staff were good. Coffee making in the rooms rather than only available for limited time in the reception area would be a big improvement. Renovated rooms are good.
The rooms that have not been renovated are poor . Rooms at the front are noisy.
Location is great, the room is very comfortable.
Cheap for New York. I got what I paid for.
Carpet needed to be replaced.
on the second morning, about 9am, while my wife and i were still sleeping, we were startled n awoken by our door being unlocked n opened. It was the cleaning staff. it prompted our safety n privacy concerns. its too early to enter guests' rooms in any case, and in the event needed, at least thoroughly check if the room is occupied.
Totally love the location and breakfast drink.
The elevator is old and slow.
Bed and pillows were very comfortable and the walls have been freshly pained and really look good.
1. No shampoo or conditioner 2. No hairdryer 3. The bathroom had some repairs very poor workmanship and my bathroom was very dated 4. the worst was the bottle green carpet which is so old that the bristles are permanently flat and it just look very dirty and really need to be replaced. 5. the door to room can also do with an update and I strggled to get the door opened, still using a very old entry system.6. Luckily I called before leaving to go to the hotel and was advised that they did not get my Booking.com reservation and that they are full. Person was not very helpful. After I spoke to Booking.com about this problem my room was suddenly now available.
My adult daughter and I had a wonderful stay here. The location is great with easy access to the subway. Our room was clean and big by NY standards.
The lobby area is very tired but does have a coffee machine. We spent very little time there.
Location to the sights in new York. Small friendly hotel, pleasant staff. Quiet room. Clean and spacious room.
Would have preferred tea/coffee facilities in room but machine in foyer adequate.
the location was very good and the room was clean
our rooms were very claustraphobic, you could not open the windows and you looked out onto brick walls and windows with bars so there was no light coming in, the rooms were ground floor in a small lobby and the cleaners room was next to ours they were whistling, clattering and banging about at 5 in the morning, the hotel is very old and dated and not worth the £703.27 that we paid
The renovated rooms are very comfortable. Great location, very friendly staff.
Family run hotel and it seems they really care about their guests. It's a budget hotel so don't expect luxury but the beds are very comfortable, the room and ensuite impeccably clean and it was very quiet. Free coffee in the lobby and wi fi in the room.
Room rather small and ours overlooked a light well so no view out.
Can't think of a negative
Close to everything! Clean! Comfortable! Everything to our satisfaction. Clean towels every day. Couldn't ask for more! Thank you!
Perhaps coffee throughout the day?
We spent 6 nights at the herald square hotel. Loved the location as it's pretty central for everything. Our room was really clean and comfortable. Great complimentary coffee machine downstairs. Fab wine and chocolate bar next door.
Great location very near Penn Station Great customer service Fascinating historic building Very clean Comfortable beds
Wifi was good when it worked. It was over capacity and best time to use it was middle of night No fan in bathroom
Very close to Penn Station
Worth the money, has everything you need, small rooms are expected in NYC...
comfortable bed, convenient room and bathroom
windows are not sound proof and hear the noise of the street If you are facing the street, for Internet you need to re enter network name and password each time you reuse it
The room was large, clean, and antique. We loved the privacy and convenience of the room and hotel location was great in the middle of all we were there for.
Good base for seeing all that Manhattan has to offer
If you are just looking for a bed in New York then fine, but hotel 'facilities' are nil.
Comfort, cleanliness, clean towels every day.free coffee and teas at lobby. Great location for empire state building, times sq. 15-20 mins walk. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.
Front entrance could be a bit more brighter in colour . That's my own opinion. We had a refurbished bedroom that was comfortable.
small room and dirty carpet. The reception is not friendly .
Nice bathroom, close to MSG.
Extremely dark. .. Very little light from the window facing the back alley.
Cozy, free WiFi, beautiful room with excellent decor.
No mini-fridge or microwave
