Herbivorian House  

Herbivorian House was a lovely, welcoming place to stay for two colleagues on a business trip to Boston. Brahma, the owner, was fantastic - very friendly, helpful and enthusiatic, without being in-your-face, he really makes Herbivorian House something special! The chalkboard for guests’ artwork, rustic decor and information on the benefits of a vegan lifestyle add a quirky charm to the apartment (non-vegan/veggies are welcome too!). Although the accommodation itself is lived-in, it is clean and comfortable, with spacious living room and kitchen areas, a lovely granite-topped fitted kitchen and sunny terrace with table and chairs. The bedrooms are compact but very comfortable, with lovely new mattresses. There are amazing views of the Boston skyline from the top terrace. The locals were very nice, with a friendly wave and hello every time we passed by, they are clearly proud of their neighbourhood. The surrounding area is safe and friendly, and within easy reach of the airport (10 min walk to shuttle bus). Despite its proximity to the airport, there was no noticeable aircraft noise, and no noise from the adjoining apartments. Downtown is easily accessible via subway (30min), and the long, sandy Revere Beach is only 15min the opposite way on the same subway line. The cost savings of being a little out of town far outweigh the travelling time, and we happily took the subway (a bargain $15 for 7 days’ unlimited travel pass) in and out every day with no problems Overall, Herbivorian House is a fantastic base for your trip to Boston. It will especially appeal to those who like a bit of character and authenticity to their travel accommodation (fans of faceless luxury hotels need not apply), but is a great, all-round option for anyone looking for a value-for-money base for their visit to Boston.

No aircon in the bedrooms (only in the central area), but there were ceiling fans in the rooms which kept us cool enough. Otherwise, no complaints!

Het Herbivorian House is geen hotel, maar een woonhuis wat per verdieping als appartement wordt verhuurd. Faciliteiten (O.A. slecht werkende douche, slechts 1 handdoek per persoon, geen kleerhangers in kast, ramen kunnen niet open) zijn matig. Voor dezelfde prijs die we nu per nacht hebben betaald, hebben we een week eerder in Washington een kamer in een apart-hotel geboekt, met betere faciliteiten (incl. Ontbijt) en in een betere buurt. L'herbivorian House n'est pas un hotel mais un appartement. Il est situé à East Boston, a proximité de deux lignes de métro permettant d'être au centre en peu de temps. Il est loin des normes et agréable. Pour avoir une vision de la vraie vie américaine, être reçu chaleureusement en toute autonomie, c'est une super adresse.

Wunderbare Terrasse, heitere Atmosphäre, man lebt im Appartement wie Einheimische leben. Sehr freundlicher Vermieter. Angenehmes Viertel.

Large apartment

Dirty Located far from the city center and subway station Poor neighborhood Bad facilities in the apartment We've been travelling throughout the US-eastcoast and Canada. This apartment was by far the worst considering the price, location, equipment, facilities. Very disappointing

Old and shabby house. Dirty apartm.(Lotus-aptm.) The equipment not useable. Gross bathroom. Never again.
