elevator kind of sucks (my room on 5th floor), breakfast is minimal (bananas and bagel)
satisfy all my needs
Old radiator hissed and spewed steam all day and night. Like being in a noisy sauna. Hostel needs to fix this issue ASAP.
Free wifi. Free coffee and bagel breakfast. Lots of planned activities. Friendly staff. Funky decor.
- Very poor breakfast. I've stayed in other Hi Hostels across the US. And this one had the worst breakfast. - Just two restrooms and two showers for and entire floor???
Comfy bed and pillow Friendly and very helpfull staff
You may be exposed over noises outside. The window was pretty bad.
All of staffs are super friendly, nice, and helpful. You can eat a nice breakfast at morning even though it's little bit distracting you because of bunch of people. Bed is nice and clean.
Noise, noise and noise all from the street. I kept having to check my window was closed properly. A down side to a great locatiom.
The staff, the queen size single room was perfect and the location was great for access to all areas of the city.
Light coming through windows, it's about time they get decent blinds.
Bagels were the only choice of breakfast. It would have been great to have more choices.
The staff made me feel really comfortable and safe by keeping an eye on all common areas and helping out when nessessary
Breakfast was only bagels, a sandwich would have been great too.
I never use hostels since I'm a little bit picky about privacy and cleaningless, but this is like a hotel, they give you everything you need, even towels and soap. Location is PERFECT, one block from Union square and just in front of the Hilton (where the Big Bus Tour has one stop)
Great location; fast wifi; clean room.
VERY noisy neighborhood and not the best sound isolation with the windows. Extremely soft bed (after a week, we've acquired an interesting back pain!). We didn't receive the nicest welcome from the personnel in the reception. Specifically, the redhead guy (unfortunately, we don't know his name) wasn't apparently willing to help, since he was not particularly polite when we asked him about a couple of issues that we needed to solve (two issues that could be solved, later on, with the advice of two of his colleagues!).
Great location, great Wi-Fi connection (even in the bedroom). Breakfast was really nice, and the woman that helped to maintain the kitchen neat and tidy was a delightful person!
Noise from street
The space of the room is too limited!
The location is great and convenient.
It was a little annoying that our friends, who lived in the area, couldn't come up to our room, but that's for security reasons so it makes sense. The elevator was also a little outdated, but overall the negatives weren't overwhelming and I'd definitely stay there again.
The staff was pretty friendly, and the free bagels, oatmeal, and fruit in the morning were nice. I stayed in a private room with a friend so I can't comment on the state of the dorms, but our room was fine; I liked that there was a locker in it to store our belongings for safekeeping (we had to bring our own lock though). The communal bathrooms were pretty decent, better than the communal dormitory bathrooms I'm used to. The location is right next to Union Square, a BART station, and a MUNI stop, and just on the edge of the Tenderloin, so you'll never have to deal with that neighborhood if you don't want to.
Nothing, I really enjoyed it all
The location, the facilities, the very friendly and helpful staff
- location - pub crawl - staff (were amazing!!) - rooms
In an area that felt a little unsafe at night but it wasn't too bad. Just felt unsafe.
The staff, the rooms were good, beds were comfortable. Private rooms had everything you needed.
The small window of the room was on the courtyard and we had no air. The room was awfully hot !
The staff is great. It's a very good idea to organize events almost everyday.
The toilets with sink in the lid are kind of awkward to use :/
Loved the breakfast!
The only thing I didn't like is their breakfast option, it would be better if they can give any other option than bagels. Although they provide fruits, which is good.
It's location is very good, and the staff is also very friendly. Being a solo traveler I didn't find any problem in my stay. For a nice stay in a decent budget, I'll recommend this.
Internet speed is a little bit slow, but that could be because the whole bunch of game developers hogging the bandwidth during GDC week. Also, the metal bed frame could get pretty creaky with movement.
The kitchen and everything!
Room is litter small, Breakfast is too simple(just bread and fruit, coffee)
Location is very good, wifi is fast, staff is friendly, price is value.
Wifis so weak
the location is the best !! can go wherever i wanna go so easilly ! even by walk:) everyone there is so nice and friendly! ill def visit the hostel someday in the future when i get a chance to visit San Francisco or somewhere in the US!
wifi was so weak in room and lack of shower and toilet.
Location was so good. You can easily excess to Union Square and Powell station. Considering its price, room and breakfast were very nice. I'd like to stay in here if I visit San Francisco again.
Even though all guest have to keep silent after 11 for other guest's convience according to hostels roles, few guests were ignoring this role and disrupting other guests cozy stay. This might not drived from hostel itself, but the problem is there was no one control this until I asked crew down floor. I was about to stay 3 days in this hostel at the first time, but I cancelled my reservation after one night sleep becasue of this.
All employees in HI san francisco were so nice and they promptly took a action for my inconvience. And locations also best!
We got a room facing the street and it was very noisy at night. (Not really the hostel's fault...)
Location is just superb!
