The room was clean and quiet, and the bed was also pretty comfy. The old man working after midnight was very friendly and helpful!
No free parking was a bit of a problem.
Centrally located, easily accessible.
-The location was great. Quiet but easily accessible. I walked to all the main sights. I booked a dorm but there were only two people in total. The free breakfast was great. The staff were very helpful.
The room and locker space. The staff are very helpful. The kitchen has plenty pots, pans, utensils. The location is good for walking to Waterfront, Pioneer Square area, Pike Place Market, the stadiums.
Breakfast could have had more choices of baked goods.
Location, location, location! Breakfast was very simple but nice, staff was really helpful and friendly.
Nothing you wouldn't expect in a cheap hostel.
location wifi breakfast
stuff attitude was ridiculous.
1) Spacious hostel. Nice common area on the 1st floor with comfortable chairs, outlets, and a TV. 2) Good kitchen. 3) Small TV room. 4) Security seems strong. 5) Rooms are well thought through- each bed gets its own fan, outlet, and light. 6) Elevator. (Although you have to ask staff to use it, so a bit pointless really. Seems to only be there for housekeeping purposes.) 7) Staff are helpful.
1) Seattle doesn't offer many hostels so I suspect this is how this one survives. The area is really, really nasty. (Crackheads, alcoholics, etc.) As a lone female, I didn't feel all that comfortable walking around after dark. The hostel itself does have good security, but be warned! 2) It feels like kind of a nanny state in some respects. If you are used to sociable, fun hostels, this one may be a bit disappointing for you. They are clear when you check in that no alcohol is to be consumed and you are not allowed to even sit with your laptop and headphones in the main common area after 11pm. I mean, they will actually come in and (politely) ask you to leave and then lock the door. There is a real "be quiet and go to bed" vibe about this hostel, and I suspect that has something to do with the bad area and that maybe they are trying to avoid 'undesirable' guests. As a result, there is no atmosphere and you feel like a naughty 15 year old who just wants to stay up after 11pm and have a glass of wine. 3) The rates are high for a hostel. I imagine they get away with this due to the lack of competition. 4) Breakfast is not worth getting up for. Disappointing compared to other HI breakfasts, such as HI Vancouver. 5) Shaky wi-fi 6) They need more bathrooms. 7) You can't use the elevator without asking a member of staff to operate it on your behalf! 8)The housekeeping staff came into my room at 10:20am (check-out is 11am) when I was in the process of stressing out to get my suitcase the right weight for airport check-in. I informed them I would be gone within the next half hour, but the man proceeded to strip my sheets, even with some of my possessions still on the bed. Not cool!
I really liked how close the hostel was to King Street Station and the hostel really did have everything. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I would love to stay here again in the future.
These are really minor things in my opinion like not being able to use the elevator or not being able to eat in your room but I understand why these rules are in place.
It was clean and safe and uncrowded. Even the common area was nice.
The bed wasn't too comfy, the neighborhood is pretty awful (I was scared walking in every time- whether it was 3am or 2pm). Still worth it though.
The location for this travel is excellent because they are both only steps from the hostel
No use of the elevator for the fourth floor and liggage
All of it
Didn't find anything
Nothing to like
Bathroom facilities were bad. Very bad small was there in the room. very bad atmosphere. No parking facilities were there.
My long wait in the lobby for credit card approval
Breakfast is included.
The bed was so uncomfortable due to the mattress being so soft and thin you could feel the metal bar of the bunk...
It is very disturbing how none od the staff is willing to say hi upon your arrival. In fact they are acting as no one has arrived and listen to loud music like some teenagers full of hormons. Seattleites in general are very friendly people and that makes it even harder to understand why staff at this hostel is so unfriendly and why they act so unwelcome. The cleanless in the hostel is very low, rooms are smelly and breakfast is horrible (rotten bananas, coffee that tastes watery and cheap toast bread). And it is not really that cheap place to stay! I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone. Terrible experience
Price, bed, people, breakfast, clean, all very good! Love it!
The area is a little bit dangerous
I wasn't sure what to expect. I reserved a private room. I loved the privacy, facilities and having a free breakfast each morning
The noise level. People slamming the doors and talking really loudly.
The location was perfect for my sister and me (70 and 73). It was a short walk to the transit station. A half block away is the fabulous gateway and dragon that leads to the International District. Right next door is Henrey's, a very good Thai restaurant. The neighborhood was clean, quiet, and safe at night. The hostel itself was as nice as any I have stayed in.
Lady at front desk was helpful
I reserved a 1-person room and when I arrived, I received a 4-bed room. This isn't what I wanted and beds were all WAY too close together, unlike what was indicated in their picture on booking.com (not booking.com's fault at all). The rooms were also nothing like what was depicted in the same said photo. Also, I was given the option, on their website, to make a special reservation request, and after a couple days of no response, I subsequently contacted the hostel via telephone and inquired about it. I explained my fairly desperate situation and the guy on the phone responded by saying that they absolutely can't make an exception to the normal check-in time. VERY disappointed and somewhat angry. Never staying here again! I recommend the Green Tortoise instead.
It was really close to the Studio 7 venue and even ar 2:30 am there was good chineese food a block away. a great allternative to driving home. I will stay here everytime I am in Seattle for concerts and games.
Lovely old character building close to everything.
Everything was ideal for a hostel type situation.. ....for more economical purposes.. check out how Japanese use bed cubicle to increase occupancy and provide privacy for your guests
My room smelled like stinky feet... perhaps use a laundry chute for guest checkout instead of leaving soiled linens in room four outlets but two were occupied by fan and lantern. Maybe hardwired into circuit?
I stay here whenever I am visiting Seattle :-) The hostel's location is excellent (next to Amtrak, city buses,Bolt bus, a Japanese coffee shop and many many restaurants).Staff personnel are knowledgeable of Seattle and travel to Canada. And are nice down to earth people.
Big hostel, few people during the weekdays. Washrooms are very clean.
No daily activities. Quite boring.
