Loved the staff and decor. Very cute and homey. GREAT placement right near Independence Square which is lovely to walk around. Continental breakfast a bit lacking.

Was upgraded to King size room. Very pleasant room, very clean. Staff were very obliging and helpful. Breakfast adequate. Would highly recommend. Many historic sites very close to the hotel in Independence

It is comfortable, well decorated, quiet and centrally located close to historic civil war and Truman era cites. AndI it is just a short drive to the Kansas City attractions.

Room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Nice quiet neighborhoof. The people in the next room were very loud and noisy. Not the hotels fault though.

For our purposes it was close to the CoC locations... And also to the shops where we ate on several occasions. The availability of a continental breakfast was good. That for the most part was an adequate start to each day. I did appreciate the special attention offered at check in (larger bedroom) The WiFi availability was especially helpful... and gave no problems. * I did note that when the computer was connected, it disabled the phone. This was no problem but others less technically aware may not realise that this can happen. Excellent value for money. Couldn't fault any aspect of our stay.

The room was very clean. Bed comfortable and breakfast excellent. Gorgeous gardens and friendly informative hosts. We loved the location as we were there to do all the Truman things and were right across the street. We also loved the WW1 museum.

Having an owner proprietor who has pride in his facility, and knowledge of the surrounding area, is definitely a positive experience for the guest who stay at The Higher Ground Hotel. 'K' and Rita are welcoming, helpful, and receptive to your needs.

I loved the cleanliness and the uniqueness of the hotel. It was well appointed and also very quiet. The hotel was located across the street from Harry Truman's house so it felt quaint. The location was wonderful and the closeness of excellent restaurants was nice. There was also a beautiful garden on the propert which was very well maintained and peaceful. If you need a place to stay this hotel was a real gem. I loved this hotel!

It was handy to the sites we wanted to visit. We received good information from the desk clerk that saved us time in viewing the Truman home - in that we needed to go into town to get tickets first.

Rooms were very nice, especially our daughter's, which had a view of the grounds. We really enjoyed sitting in the beautifully landscaped grounds, with a fish pond and waterfall. The hotel is within walking distance of the square, with its restaurants, etc. The owners are personally there, and gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant.

We loved the location, nice quite neighborhood and right by the Truman home a plus. Not your typical big hotel. Small, quaint, clean,comfortable and very nice staff. We enjoyed the garden area also. If looking for a break from the big hotels check this place out. You won't be disappointed. Great coffee. Can't think of a thing.

Very clean. The room was spacious with comfortable seating. We stayed in a room facing the street. The light from the street was so bright it was like daylight all night long. The beds weren't great and the light problem made the night very Lon. Breakfast wasn't very good.
