I love coming to Highlands and this comfortable super affordable and well located. We were just there over night but it's just a block from the Main Street, and quiet! Super staff.
Even though, it was listed as non-smoking room, the room still smelled of cigarette smoke.
Location...close to restaurants and shopping
Why have breakfast end so early? As a traveler, it is nice to sleep in late. Yet. by 9:31 the breakfast was put away. The leftover coffee was ice cold. Couldn't you at least keep breakfast available to 10:00?
The staff was exceptional. Friendly, competent, and accommodating. Great job!
Need a movie channel on tv and hdtv to widen the picture.
1. Would have liked detailed information about visiting and shopping in Highlands and Cashiers. A map with details of shop locations would be a basic you should always have in your lobby. 2. Old apples were in a stand at the entry to breakfast area … not a good message.
Very comfortable and welcoming place.
It was slightly dated, not like 90's dated, but considering the other hotels in the town it didn't feel as fresh as them.
It was a great clean hotel, I loved the little outdoor porch it came with on the lower flowers and the balcony on the upper floors
In the morning, I had no hot water and could not get a hold of the hotel desk. The elevators had been shut off and the lobby doors locked. There was no staff on-site from 12-7 am! And the staff who arrived at 7 did not have a key to lobby.
Room was pretty and had a patio.
Only problem is we had trouble controlling the heat in our room. The thermostat must not have been working.
Seems to be locally owned lodge. Good value for the money.
Breakfast area needs more attention. Styrofoam bowls for large waffles is not a good fit. Toaster had too many crumbs built up in it and they actually caught fire. There were old brown bananas when we checked in (but they had been replaced by breakfast).
Nice clean room. Free breakfast. Free internet. Fridge in room.
Two nights in a row we returned to our room with the door having been left unlocked by the housekeeper, despite my having called it to the attention of the front desk manager the first night. Electrical outlets also were faulty.
Location and price
I don't like the heavy quilt on the bed. There needs to be a light blanket available or else turn the A/C down to 50 degrees.
Limited Healthy breakfast options. Please add peanut butter for bagels.
Location, quietness, laid back atmosphere. Well appointed rooms. Very friendly staff.. Wonderful stay. I will go back!
We had to arrive late, so I called ahead and they said no problem. But when we arrived around midnight, the nice older man who checked us in told me the rate would be much higher than what I booked it for on Bookings.com--in fact 50% higher. He said he'd never heard of $88 a night rates. I don't think he understood internet bookings and said he'd never heard of bookings.com. I began to wonder if we were in the right motel. But all the signage said we were in the right place. I kept my cool, checked in anyway, and the next morning the nice lady at the desk apologized and changed us to the $88 a night rate. We were in a nice patio room, so that might be the reason for the rate confusion, but we didn't ask for that room. So, we lucked out I guess. Overall, we had a great experience.
Within easy walking distance of town. Staff was very nice. Rooms are fine, not fancy, but plenty good for us. Great price. Overall, a great bargain.
Bad food, dirty towels and linens and very poor maid service. This was the second and final time I would stay at this establishment. The owners a nicer property downtown, and put the least amount of money into this one.
For some reason we were in suite #1 Far from the center of the hotel when we were the only people staying there.
No fridge in room. No ice machine on floor. Appalling breakfast. Fading hotel in need of refurbishment
Close to Main Street
Bath exhaust did not work or pull out the steam; we had to leave a day early and were not able to get a refund for the fourth night we did not stay; left- over breakfast baked goods not fresh
Lodge like atmosphere; desk staff nice; our ground floor room had back door to the lawn, tables and chairs, hot tub and parking. Door added extra light to the room. Bed comfortable with nice sheets; walking distance to town areas; would go back.
The remodeling has improved the hotel, but the TV ,s are hard to work and maid service was only fair. The bed was just spread up and coffee station was not replaced. Breakfast was fair
The room was clean and convenient for me on First floor.
Continental breakfast was poor, at best!
Overall appearance is beginning to look shabby. Room with fireplace was nice but beds, linens and towels definately need replacing. Shabby sometimes takes cozy to a whole new level!
Perfect location. Easy to walk to everything in Highlands. Lobby was a comfortable, if a little shabby in areas, place to hangout. Breakfast was good but a minimal selection was offered. Coffee, tea, & cocoa always available. Cookies in the evening was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
The nearby city I wanted to stay in was booked for an apparently huge wedding or multiple small ones. Booking.com gave me a rate of $135. The hotel "could not find my reservation" thus I was charged $185, though not as bad as the below ground room (musty and smelling of mold in the hallway) that was charged $240. Relatively I go off cheap and should be happy
The bookings.com reservation stated that no meals were included. This was incorrect. After two days I noticed people having a continental breakfast and was informed that it was included in my rate. You should note these changes and update this information on your paperwork on this client. This error almost cost the Highlands Inn Lodge our business as the other motel we considered included the breakfast. In the end we chose location over the price.
very friendly and helpful staff.
