Hillwinds Inn  

Set in an upmarket small town just off the Main Street. Quiet, clean, friendly. Great room. Wine & cheese was a great way to meet other guests and swop stories.

Breakfast was only ok, given the high standards elsewhere.

Very convenient location for downtown Blowing Rock and Tanger Outlet. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Noisy -- screen doors slammed day and night.

Tucked right in town. Food, shopping, entertainment all within walking distance. It was quiet, beds really comfortable with firm mattresses and plenty of fluffy, not lumpy pillows. Able to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway easily. There is a covered porch area and rocking chairs. If it is warm you have to sit outside and enjoy an adult beverage and snacks in the evening. We met several really nice couples while we were visiting.

Breakfast area does not open until 8 am. If you are an early riser or want to get out for early hike plan to eat breakfast out. There is a coffee pot and small fridge in the room.

bed, was not comfortable ,lights in bathroom was dim no light in the shower ,curtain in shower was dark,so it made it hard to see while taking a shower,

We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay. The room was clean, the breakfast was very good for a continental , the wine and cheese in the evening was a fun bonus! The staff was very friendly

The room deodorizer was a little strong

Location & Price

The term "Inn" is misleading. This facility is an older, better than average motel that is overpriced.

We liked the cleanliness, the staff and also the breakfast. We liked the variety of breakfast foods (cereal, toast, bagels, waffles, muffins, etc.) rather than the standard coffee & muffin breakfast at most other places we've stayed. We especially liked the surprise from Kelcie, Julie, & Emma. Our 40th Anniversary was on a day we were there. Our son called the front desk to deliver us champagne & they put together champagne, chocolate, nuts, strawberries in a wine glass, balloon, and a flower arrangement.....we were really surprised ! It's things like that make you want to come back ! The 2 rocking chairs outside each room were also nice.

We can't think of anything we didn't like, but it would have been nice to have had a sitting chair or love seat to watch tv. We did like the tall table with 2 tall chairs in the room, though. The bathtub foot grips were also worn, which made standing for a shower very slippery.

Very nice friendly people. Comfortable rooms. Fantastic location. Blowing Rock is a wonderful place to stay. We booked it from the UK not knowing much about the area as part of our long trip around the Southern States. Once we arrived we wished that we had booked longer. The afternoon wine & cheese was a very nice surprise and the breakfast was good quaility unlike some of the other places we had stayed.

Friendly welcome, and welcome cheese and wine. Comfort and Convenience.

No liked the place and would certainly go back there.

Close to the ski slopes. Nice location in Blowing Rock, close to restaurants and shops.

Limited services due to inclement weather.

Location. Bed was comfy. Bathroom nice.

Odd smell in room. Breakfast not so great. But the coffee was good!
