friendly, good breakfast selection, nice pool. Liked the fireplace outside.
The location is great.
The mattresses were hard and should be replaced. Otherwise the rooms were nice.
After traveling the 'Kanc' the motel was in a good location. Not many places close by to eat dinner. Had to go 7 miles up the road to a good Rest/Brewery.
Very friendly staff. Quiet location. Very pretty and well maintained grounds.very good value.
Rooms a bit dated.
I loved the layout. We actually went for a walk on a beautiful trail behind the hotel. The place was very nice and comfy and the owners were very friendly.
Breakfast area was just ok. Nothing special.
Friendly welcome, lovely setting, comfortable room
kept awake by other musical guests in room below-they were singing and playing guitars until early hours of the morning
Helpfull staff, location was ideal for our travel needs, room was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Sink counter needs to be replaced/repaired. Certainly not a drawback.
We often stay in more affordable places when travelling in the White Mtns and were very surprised at the overall quality of Hillswind related to other places of comparable price. Very cute, clean and friendly staff. Will definitely visit again.
The bed was quite firm, and the location was a little remote.
Management was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, comfortable and as expected for the price point. Plentiful parking (although parking lot was not paved) and rooms were away from traffic. Quiet. Prices were very reasonable. Nice little river fronting the motel.
Not located in an area with many choices for dining. Neeed to travel 7-8 miles for a variety of dinner options. Stayed near the end of August and the pool was covered. Weather was warm enough to swim if pool had been opened. Somewhat off-putting to find out that another business shared the office area with the motel business. Continental breakfast had very minimal food choices. Would recommend asking for river front room.
Noisy at night from neighbors . Bad smell Very old furniture Basic breakfast
Loved the dog friendly room. It was clean and neat (no signs, that there had been other dogs in that room, no smell or stains). It was quaint and is a great location to Franconia Notch State park (3mi away) and about an hour to Mt. Washington. There is a nice trail behind the lodge from hiking and walking your dog. We plan on visiting the lodge again in the future.
We did not like the ghetto people that stayed there our first night. There were kids running up and down our front door. The parents were just as loud. We almost left. Thank goodness, they left the next day. How rude. C'mon people, have some consideration for others. Control your kids and your tone of voice when in public. Stupid, inconsiderate people almost ruined our trip.
Beautifully located, easy to find and far enough from highway to be quiet. First impression - amazing.
Air in the room wasn't breathable. Remnants of smoke and pets odors covered with soap and air freshener. Right outside the rooms they have chairs and ashtrays for smokers; smoke goes right into the room. If we've got there earlier than 10PM we wouldn't have stayed. Spend the night with a big fan directed at the window, trying to push the odor out of the room. Woken up with red eyes, not rested at all.
Very Quiet Area and Things to do are near by or just a few miles away.
Very clean and maintained. Nice pool and lawn games. Beautiful location on river frontage.
We stayed one night at the Hillswinds Lodge on our way home from traveling through New England. We had a room overlooking the river. The room was clean with comfortable bed, fridge, and microwave. Will definitely stay here again.
Good place , pool very clean all in all would stay again you can see the owners are on location and really care for there guests and there business.
a little far from Mount Washington
Loved the location, the rooms were inviting, typical NH style
Cannot think of something we did not like
Location, facility, people smoking everywhere. Dogs barking in rooms.
The staff were very friendly and courteous. We had a very relaxing stay. We'll definitely come back here.
Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable.
Dated decor and wood panelling plus dim lighting made the rooms too dark. Breakfast starts too late at 8 AM.
Going into the shallow river and walking in the water before sunset :) Nice rooms. The BBQ in front of our room where we cooked our dinner! There's a shop really close with all you need.
I needed an extra blanket, but I guess that since it was summer they just don't put extras in the closet :( My fault for leaving the AC on for too long, too cold.
Cool place, my room had a view of the river. Picnic tables and BBQ right between river and room. Chairs right outside rooms for easy sitting. Free breakfast 8-10. Could walk to three dining establishments. Overall this place, even though in a small place is a great value. I would stay again. Forgot terrific easy access to Franconia Notch .
Wifi a little iffy got it on cell but not on iPad. But not a big minus maybe half a point off.
Pool and river

The location was great. Very close to the white mountains. The pool was pristine & the staff was fantastic.
The bed was a little uncomfortable.
Nice lodge in a beautiful spot. Charming accommodations, would easily choose it for an extended stay.
