It's perfect. Surrounded by the beach, every store is less than a10 min.drive, and it's relaxing! Don't have to deal with a far walk to the cafe or pool or car. It's where I come to when in need of some "off"time.

Breakfast was skimpy--told to get extras at store. Scenic location not really walkable to shops to shops.
Beautiful location on Hilo Bay. Quiet, peaceful, friendly, homey energy. Well stocked general store with coffee drinks and ice cream attached. Enjoyed watching the gardeners meticulously caring for the grounds

Beds were hard as rock and breakfast disappointing.

All the staff are friendly and helpful except for the lady in the breakfast hall. The breakfast is very simple, only toast and papaya- but I like it because papaya is good enough for me:)
We like the banyan trees around the hotel very much. They are very historical and impressive.

Parking is very few so we had to park on the street. Usually Papaya is served for Breakfast but by the time we get to lobby around 8AM, all papaya was gone. They should prepare enough for people staying there each day. No elevator on left wing so we had to drag up suitcase to upper floor.
Very easy access from the airport or downtown.

The bathroom needed a better cleaning.

Our room needed repairs to both the shower & toilet, they were not working properly & should have been noted by housekeeping. Upon reporting, they were repaired.
The staff was welcoming & responsive & helped to make our stay enjoyable. A complementary light breakfast was available & included, fresh local fruits. Also, there were fresh flowers in the lobby each morning for guests to enjoy.

If you are looking for luxury, this is probably not the hotel for you. The decor is stuck in the 1970s. Other than the breakfast, the hotel lacks a restaurant, but there is a small convenience store on the property.
Uncle Billy's is located less that three miles from Hilo Airport. The location on Hilo Bay is close the Queen Lili'uokalani's gardens. The staff members were friendly, and the internet connection was excellent. We appreciated the daily continental breakfast with the fresh papaya. The hotel gardens are lovely, and I enjoyed the small pool as well.
