Hotel is old but very clean and tidy, and staff very helpful and respectful. Lovely setting and a great location. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced.
Friendly staff, great location on the ocean, near two great places to eat and centrally located near mall and old Hilo town.
Roll away bed for kids was extremely uncomfortable, recommend getting new mattresses.
close to the airport
rooms are very noisy ,the tiled floor has groves in between the tiles ,so when people tool on their bags you hear the noise loud and clear as the windows are nothing but glass louvers, one can also get startled by the knocking on any of the nearby doors/
Room was clean and it was quiet most nights.
Room was a bit cramped with all the furniture. Hotel felt a bit like a maze with all the seperate buildings
We stayed for a total of 2 nights and didn't have issues with parking either day. Once arriving at 8pm and once after 9pm. The room was normal size but 3 girls take up a lot of space.
Windows were the style like plantation shutters so you can hear everything outside. Also airplanes fly overhead but that didn't prevent us from sleeping well.
The Hilo Seaside Hotel is literally a little bit of history. One room is set aside as a museum and Hawaiian quilts decorate the walls. The staff is very helpful. The location is good. As well as the restaurant in the hotel try Ponds across the street and Ken's Pancake House a block up th road. The view from the front of the hotel across the fish pond is great. Unfortunately these rooms were closed for maintenance while we were there but we would choose one of these rooms if we return. Parking is good.
There are a lot of stairs and no elevators but staff will help with luggage. There are some first floor rooms with flat entrance from the parking lot but most rooms involve stairs. Our room was not large but it was adequate.
This is a family owned hotel so there are unique features such as Hawaiian gardens and a small museum. Clean and quiet.
Not really for children. Pool only open from 9-6 pm and often has maintenance during those hours. Parking split on different sides of hotel so a bit of a walk if you lose out on parking.
It's well maintained with nice gardens and great staff. Even a little museum!
Nothing was bad really, the airport was a concern but even that wasn't an issue.
It was like staying at a condo, which made our family seem to be living here. The staff were excellent, and the location was good, within walking distance to cafes, etc.
The parking were full during the night, which kind of nerved us from going out during night, would not wish to park further, The room was clean and fair, but the building started showing the age.
Great location, nice view, nice landscaping, koi pond, free wifi, walk to Ken's house of Pancakes for breakfast (too much food!)
Our friends said one mattress was too soft. Ours were fine. We asked for a king and got 2 full beds.
Close to airport, nice inlet from the harbor across the street, convenient places to eat within the hotel and also a step away, and classic hawaiian inn feel. Also, free parking.
Hallways echo and many people coming home late from the bar can easily wake you up. Only ceiling fan isn't optimal for the humidity.
Cute hotel for being next to airport, it's fine for transit but it's not where u go to spend a 2 wk holiday.
The beds were made really nicely, & they were pretty comfortable. The hotel was very quiet, and we had an optional breakfast package. The staff was very kind, and was willing to accommodate us when we discovered a problem in our room. Overall we were pretty satisfied.
My wife is a responsible smoker and she doesn't like to throw her cigarette butts on the ground, however we noticed that there were no trash receptacles or no cigarette butt collectors anywhere in front of the hotel entrance.
Staff was very helpful in helping get our luggage to the room while it was raining.
We were tired and just wanted a good night sleep. We ended up with a slice of heaven. Comfortable bed, very clean, balcony, overlooking a koi pond. What more could you ask for - a reasonable price. The Hilo Seaside Hotel had it all.
Location, quiet, all facilities we required, food options and convenience
Car parking inadequate during our stay. Room was not serviced on one day, it was sorted out, but with no apology, just a subtle accusation that it was our fault!!!!!!
I have two sons and me, I ask for ground floor and I got it was very helpful thank you.
The staff including housekeeping were very helpful, courteous and attentive. Hotel rates were reasonable compared to other nearby hotels. Rooms were clean and I'm thankful for the small refrigerator, iron and ironing board. mahalo!
I was assigned a room in the very back of the hotel. I presume the rooms closer to the entrance and pool were reserved for out of state and international visitors, or perhaps they cost more. Mine was a 'standard' room at kamaaina rate. Also, the internet via safari either wasn't working, or perhaps it was Hawaiian Airline's website.
close to airport, has character with helpful staff. All steps so if you have bags I did not see bell staff but did not ask. Near airport, two nice restaurants very close.Older, good value.
Everything was great. Location and the room space but the bathroom a littke small.
Bathroom was a little to small. Meaning the toilet was to close to the wall and sink.
an available room for my stay next year
