The guest service representative gave us a difficult time related to checking in, and how many ppl would be in the room.
Room, design, comfort, quietness.
My brother and I stayed in this hotel in December for a Bears game. Walking distance to soldier Field, walking distance to magnificent mile, basically walking distance to everything anyone who's visiting Chicago would need. A wonderful hotel
The hotel is absolutely magnificent. It is huge but yet the lobby is beautiful and cozy especially the fireplace and window seats. We requested 2 rooms close in proximity and they were able to give us rooms right across the hall from each other. excellent!! We would highly recommend this hotel.
I wish we would have booked a room that included breakfast for only 4.00 more than a room with a view. It was foggy out so the view wasn't that spectacular. We were told the breakfast was excellent.
Despite the faded elegance of some of the areas (though the hotel is being modernised I understand), this is still a destination hotel with impressive entrance/lobby areas. Great location to explore Chicago, and handy for a running route along the Lake.
Charges for in room wifi
Great value and location!
Room was rather dated and no free WiFi in room
No Free Wifi
good location, a bit far from most Chicago's attractions tho. comfort beddings and good view. the fridge helped a lot.
no free wifi or drinks in the room
This was my first time staying at The Hilton Chicago. The staff was focused outward on the customer, not inward. They understand that the customer is the Reason why they come to work. The staff made our visit enjoyable, easy, and their exceeded meeting all of our needs. I planned only staying there two nights. However, we couldn't check out because the kids loved being there so much that we extended out stay two more days. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Do they really need to charge for wifi in the room? Do they need to charge for the gym? I was afraid to smile... Afraid they would charge me for that too... Parking 1 block away was 60 bucks for 3 days, thry wanted 58 dollars a day at the hotel... RIP OFF!!! Raping your wallet. Would not have stayed there for regular price!!!!!!
HOTEL CHARGES FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! Do not stay there without a discount and do not park there!!!!! Use SPOT HERO to park!!!!
Amenities and facilities in hotel
Just spent three nights at Hilton and for the most part I've enjoyed my stay. The location is superb, very central! Right beside the Art institute and lots of food options. It is easily accessible by metro. The hotel is very clean, wi-fi is strong. Staff are attentive. Ive asked for extra tea and they brought me a whole bag! We were in Chicago over Christmas day and all the restaurants around the city were closed. We ate at all the hotel restaurants and can thoroughly recommend them ( particularly the Irish one). Overall i fully recommend this hotel.
The check in staff upgraded us to a new renovated room, but it turned out to be at a higher cost. I would have preferred to stay with the option I chose initially. However, it was my fault for agreeing and not paying attention. The hotel told me they would preauthorize my card for a damage deposit, which is normal practice. Instead, they actually charged that amount and then refunded it. The problem is that my credit card is Canadian, so the exchange rates fluctuate. While they refunded me the same anount in USD i ended up having to pay extra to my card because the refund was less than the charge!! I dont think this is appropriate. Other than that, i fully recommend this hotel.
Room, restaurants, and pool.
Stayed in a double room that was fantastic in size with 2 bathrooms!
Menu options and price.
The location was perfect, in walking distance to many of the Chicago attractions Like millennium park. The included Breakfast was very nice and saved a lot of time and money!
Although I was told parking was "validated" we had to pay $50 a night to "validate" maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that's Validation, its just paying for parking at the front desk. If I had known that before my stay I would have parked across the street for $25 a night.
The hotel was super beautiful and cozy during the Christmas holiday. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating.
We had taken an overnight flight that took 9 hours; no sleep, very tiring. Our sole purpose for the hotel stay was relaxation. Unfortunately when we arrived, planning to sleep, we were met with a extremely loud construction (a jackhammer perhaps?) directly above us for 4+ hours; we were awoken at 8:30 the next morning with the same ruckus. They were very accommodating when we mentioned it at checkout, giving us 50% comp., I only wish they'd have been straightforward about it when we checked in and given us the opportunity to switch rooms or hotels.
Black mold in the bath room ceiling, shower tub did not drain, construction at 8am. Maid came in at 8:30am. Would not allow us to check in early. Property is in need of renovation.
Ridiculously cheap at £50 a night at thanksgiving. A double room at the front facing the park and Lake. Great value.
Pretty shocking that such a respected and wealthy company still charges for in room wifi.
breakfast was excellent
The location. It was close to everything we did. We walked everywhere so it was a mile from the bus station, and a mile from soldier field.. Also just a few blocks from a delicious restaurant named yolk!
They had no free WiFi. They charged a surprise fee of an extra $100 when we got there in case "we broke something". So if you go.. Pack an extra $100!! The room was horrible. The bed was like a rock. There was no fridge or microwave. It was extremely hot in the room. We saw a beautiful room in the pictures.... Absolutely nothing like that. It was depressing. The shower leaked everywhere. It was just a bad experience...
Late night noise
Close to museums
The view was spectacular and the housekeeping staff was extremely polite and thorough. The selection of television channels and movies was also wonderful. The blowdryer as well as other amenities were good quality.
The roomed as well as the towels smelled like chlorine. I do regains this may have been the detergent or bleach, which I suppose is reassuring.
