Historical hotel right next to Millennium Park and downtown area.
NO free Wi-fi in this day and age in a hotel that seems to have everything going for them seems pretty cheap.
My fiancé and I stayed here for our anniversary this year to try something different and I think this will be the winner next year, the staff was very friendly and eager to help. The restaurants downstairs were really good,we had drinks at the kitty osheas Irish pub and it was a very good experience with excellent drinks and to top it all off you cannot beat the price for this upscale hotel!
There was no mini fridge in the room like stated on the description.
Irish pub, gal from Ireland was very nice, also front desk gal was also an outstanding employee
Small room in disrepair, heat didn't work. Tv controller didn't work, restaurant on the hotel website the firehouse, we went to it and it had burned down a month ago, walked back in the cold. Toilet is loud, the walls are thin, we know we heard the orgasm in the next room. I could go on but you get the idea.
Excellent customer service. The staff was both friendly and accommodated my every need.
A little disappointed with the room. It appeared the previous guest smoked in the room and there was no mini-fridge, had to request one. Also, housekeeping should have done a better job in cleaning from previous guest - a couple of small item, hair band on floor and a bottle cap left in desk chair.
Didn't like that with the amount spent for the room that there wasn't free wifi
We had a great time in this historic hotel ... Friendly, professional staff, and our accommodating room had lovely views.
The views from the hotel are gorgeous. There is always a taxi waiting out front, and its quick to get around town.
The heat didn't work for 2 nights in our room. They sent three service men in two days before they admitted that it was totally broken. This was especially bad since it got down to as low as 3 degrees outside! They finally moved rooms after 2 nights of our 3 night stay, and offered only a free breakfast as compensation. Terrible.
Set up of the room!
The view was Blocked buy a building. I dint receive a Veterans discount. On the day of my departure I had to pay an additional 55$ to park my car. I paid for the room why should I have to pay for parking as well.
The hotel is an excellent historical building, common areas are beautiful and the service perfect. Location is also perfect to visit the city's downtown, in the heart of the loop and closo to main attractions.
Payment Wi-fi is a minus for an hotel like this; also the parking policy is not clear enough and might be confusing since it was not clarified at the moment of booking that parking was available at extra rate (over 50$ per day).
Everything was perfect the location and the friendliness of the employees were excellent
Breakfast food was good. Beds comfortable. Good location for shopping at magnificent mile.
Room advertised in photo was actually a business class room, expecting modern room which was not what we got. Lots of hidden charges, e.g. Gym access is not included as advertised, only swimming pool access. Gym access is a further $15 per person per day. No fridge in room, had to pay 5 dollars for some wine glasses and a bucket of ice. Room only cleaned once in a four night stay. Weren't given breakfast coupons at check in, had to queue the next morning for them after not being given access to the breafast buffet.
We were able to walk to almost everywhere we wanted to go.
Extra fee for using exercise equipment.
Stayed here years ago (multiple times) and note the lobby has been updated- did not like, too dark and trying to be "modern", getting rid of the old money elegance. Rooms were fine, but furniture old and worn, needing replacement. We left a day early due to the Chicago blizzard (trying to get out when we could), but they charged us for the day we did not stay. I understand rules are rules , but in view of the extraordinary weather, it would have been nice if they were more understanding. I won't be back.
Location is good.
Hotel room - $100 per night, Parking overnight $55. Shocking. Room is tiny No WiFi
Comfortable accommodation; superb staff; walking distance to museums
The guest service representative gave us a difficult time related to checking in, and how many ppl would be in the room.
Room, design, comfort, quietness.
My brother and I stayed in this hotel in December for a Bears game. Walking distance to soldier Field, walking distance to magnificent mile, basically walking distance to everything anyone who's visiting Chicago would need. A wonderful hotel
The hotel is absolutely magnificent. It is huge but yet the lobby is beautiful and cozy especially the fireplace and window seats. We requested 2 rooms close in proximity and they were able to give us rooms right across the hall from each other. excellent!! We would highly recommend this hotel.
I wish we would have booked a room that included breakfast for only 4.00 more than a room with a view. It was foggy out so the view wasn't that spectacular. We were told the breakfast was excellent.
Despite the faded elegance of some of the areas (though the hotel is being modernised I understand), this is still a destination hotel with impressive entrance/lobby areas. Great location to explore Chicago, and handy for a running route along the Lake.
Charges for in room wifi
Great value and location!
Room was rather dated and no free WiFi in room
No Free Wifi
good location, a bit far from most Chicago's attractions tho. comfort beddings and good view. the fridge helped a lot.
