The location and public rooms are excellent.
The problem with our reservation. The clerk seemed to have a lot of trouble finding our information, eventhough we had all the printed information from our online booking. I use both my first and second name as well as my family name. That is not an unusual situation!
We came to Portsmouth for the Candle Light Stroll at Strawbery Banke Museum. The hotel is perfect, it is within walking distance of everything yet out of the hustle and bustle of the city. Clean, welcoming, friendly, convenient! We will be returning!
The pillows were too soft for me. I need a firm pillow. However, that will not stop me from coming back. Also. it would be nice to have a couple of tea bags in addition to the coffee in the room. Just a thought.
Excellent professional staff, very clean and great location
Have stayed there a handful of times and have had issues with shower twice. No hot water at all one time due to furnace not working and this time shower either scorches you or is ice cold and no water pressure.
The staff and location were both fabulous!
Poor wi-fi service
Probably the best Hiton Hotel I've ever been. Week ago I spent 3 nights in NY ( Hilton Midtown NY ) and when You compare quality...Portsmouth - 6 stars, NY - 3 stars.
there was no safe in our room, no complains
nicest hotel in Portsmouth... well established and well run.
parking is expensive if you can't find an on-street spot.
The staff are excellent and the location is ideal to be able to walk to local bars & restaurants. Great food & entertainment nearby
To charge $18/day for car parking & also for breakfast in a hotel that costs >$200 / night really sours the experience. There are many positives but these were 2 huge negatives
Everything except that which is noted.
No one to help carry your cases. Either from the forecourt or up to your room. At our mature ages this probably will cause us to reluctantly find an alternative in future.
Location & everything within walking distance.
the hotel is very well located, clean, romantic and spacious. Will definitely come back again , a great bar and food, the staff is very welcoming-good choice!
The location was excellent. Portsmouth downtown is very walkable.
This is an older HGI -- not as comfortable as the one in Manchester. The noise of a/c kept me awake, and it blew frigid air too forcefully; I had to turn it off. There was an $18 valet parking charge; we elected to park at a meter on the street. Meters only need to be fed before 7pm and after 9am and have a 3-hour limit during daytime.
Spacious and comfortable room. Provision of coffee in reception area.
Nothing to comment on
Location and facilities
$18 parking per night
The friendliness. Everyone says hi and the front desk let us check in early because a room was available.
The 18 dollar charge for valet parking. Just add it to the room charge and call it free. But not a big deal.
Ac was not working properly after repair. The whole hotel felt like a sauna.
Great location in center of town, can walk to stores, bars, and restaurants. Comfortable rooms and beds. Clean, quiet. We wish we spent more than a night in Portsmouth and plan on returning. Great little city, historic and hip.
It was easy to walk to a variety of locations. Close to restaurants, shopping and local sites. This plus its quiet location contributed to a great visit. Highly recommend. (If parking was included, it would have been a perfect accommodation.)
I love that the hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and shops. The town is quaint.and great to stroll through.
Being outside the hotel while the fire on the second floor was being extinguished and cleared of smoke was inconvenient. Too bad the hotel couldn't give us something for the inconvenience.
This was our second stay and we would not hesitate to book here again.
Takes a little too long for valets to get car. Need to find somewhere closer to park them, or get more valets, or don't charge for parking.
We did not have hot water. It was ridiculous. Cold showers for both me and my wife.
We appreviated the smaller size of the hotel. It had a very comfortable feeling. Itwas very convenient for walking throughout the downtown. Made for a very relaxing weekend.
Location downtown and staff. Would definitely return, the location to excellent restaurants and shops. The staff very helpful.
Location was wonderful, nice walking distance to anything you could think of from food to entertainment to Historical interests!
Beds were not very comfortable at all. Kept falling off to the side where it appeared to worn in. Other than that was very clean.
Room was clean and neat.
The bathtub in room 207 had a clogged drain and the water filled up when you took a shower and the next person in to use the shower had to wait till the water went down. Unpleasant. We checked out very early the next morning and didn't get to tell anyone.
