- My only real complaint is a single hotel employee who was extremely rude: My wife and I had just arrived back at the hotel from a late dinner in another area of town and wanted to grab a glass of wine from the bar downstairs to take up to the room with us (we were tired from a long day and just wanted to relax and enjoy a nightcap before we went to sleep). As we approached the bar/restaurant at 11:45 p.m., I noticed that all of the customers had nearly empty drinks and it seemed like the bar tender(s) were cleaning, so I figured that the bar was probably closing soon. I quickly stopped to read a display menu/sign to check the bar hours. As I figured, the hours showed that the bar closed at midnight on Friday and Saturday. After seeing that the bar was still open according to its hours (albeit for only 15 more minutes), I turned to follow my wife into the bar to order the wine (she had continued towards the bar to try to ask one of the employees if they were open while I looked for the hours on the display). Before I could take more than a couple steps towards the bar from the menu display, we were "greeted" abruptly by a hotel employee who (without even looking at us) loudly stated "CLOSED, CLOSED, CLOSED" and then proceeded to wave both of his hands in the air at us as if to "shoo" us away (before we could say a word).
I don't care about the fact that we weren't able to get a glass wine because the bar closed a little early (we were tired anyways and I can understand the desire to close early if you're not busy on a weekend night), but I was appalled at the manner in which this employee "addressed" us, especially my wife. I am not the type of person to vent my frustrations about bad experiences online (I do not have the time and frankly rarely care enough to do so), but I felt like grabbing this disrespectful individual by the ear and making him apologize to my wife for his insulting behavior.
Excellent location (walking distance to a primary MAX stop as well as many attractions and great bars and restaurants); modern and well kept rooms (housekeeping did an incredible job every day we were there); friendly and personable staff (with one exception); lots of amenities at the hotel itself (e.g. computers in lobby, fitness center, indoor pool); great snacks/appetizers and drink selections at lobby bar; etc.
