breakfast was not of highest standards
The location was perfect - we could walk to the Hancock Bldg. and Water Tower place within minutes, and we were very close to the end of the Magnificent Mile, where we also had a view of Lake Michigan. The pool on the top floor, along with the exercise rooms, were an added bonus. The staff at the front desk were helpful and courteous. Needing a keycard to operate the elevator gave an extra feeling of security.
The concierge/valet drivers were very friendly at first, but toward the end of our stay, they barely paid any attention to us. I felt like they were expecting to get large tips from us, and we were giving reasonable tips, I thought.
I found the hotel well situated with great facilities. The room was spacious and well appointed.
Reception staff very helpful. Bellboy not cooperative at all. Not upon arrival, not at departure. Standing and watching only. One lady performing luggage services is a gem. Truely supportive and a delight. Wifi too expensive and should be part of the standard service package.
Excellent location, helpful staff
The rooms look weary and outdated
Executive lounge is a nice touch.
The suites had a microwave and refrigerator perched on an end table in front of the full length mirror. Very tacky for Executive Suite. Either nix it or re-configure so it is out of the way. Also, should provide ample staff in the coffee shop on mornings when there will be a lot of people.
Views could be better, and make sure not to take a room close to elevators; it could be very noisy.
Location is great and queen suite had enough space for a family of 5.
Only complaint is the beds seem a bit small for queen.
The suite was excellent - very clean and with a great view of the lake.
Having to pay for WiFi.
size of rooms
Everything. .......... .............................
Easy to find, close to train & cabs readily available at all times of day. The staff was very nice & helpful & the hotel was very pretty, clean, modern, & just close enough to Mag Mile to walk but far enough away that it was nice & quiet.
size of suite and room
no hair dryer for a room of the expense was a very big disappointment
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The cost of parking.
Location was perfect as was the staff and facility.
The location of the in-room microwave was extremely inconvenient. We had to squat down to the bottom of a cupboard to use and find it. Also, while the bed was very comfortable, it squeeked...a lot. Good thing we weren't a honeymoon couple! All in all, a great value, a great stay.
The hotel needs to improve its maintenance standards. Carpets should be cleaned. Faucets should be checked. The handle on mine fell off. The free access computers should be checked. All four were down when I needed to get on line. The clocks in the room should be checked for accurate time. Mine was set back an hour. This made me late for an early morning meeting. I had requested an early check in time of noon but did not get into my room until 1:30 p.m. This made me late for a meeting.
Staff pleasant everywhere especially restaurant help
Handicapped room--no stool in the shower too many obstacles in suite no extras on menu in restaurant no shuttle service at hotel--had to take taxi everywhere @$50 a hit
Great location short walk to Hancock bldg. or Contemporary Art Museum.
Obscenely expensive (in line with other hotels in the city on a holiday weekend)
The location can't be beat if you are going to Chicago to shop and eat/drink at nice restaurants/bars.
When I arrived, they told me my room had been downgraded to a suite without a wall. I told them that this was the only reason I booked at this hotel as we were traveling with our new male foreign exchange student who happened to be the same age as our 17 year old daughter. They told me that "that's what I get for booking through a third party vendor". They promised to move us to a more appropriate room as soon as possible but didn't call me until 5PM the next day. They offered to reduce my rate by $30 per night or give us free breakfast. I suggested they do both. They ended up doing both, but they promised me they would notify me as soon as the price reduction was authorized through booking.com. I had to ask them at check out if this had happened or not. Essentially they promised me a lot and delivered only when forced to do so. The manager at check out was very apologetic and offered to buy me a coffee. I politely refused. I would have booked at the Residence Inn across the street if I knew that there was even the possibility of not getting the room type I needed.
My credit card was charged 3 ( three) different times for the room. It was resolved 72 hours later
The pool on the top floor was nice with the glass wall looking over the lake. Too bad your not allowed to take pictures as per signs posted everywhere. Bloomington IL Hilton that we stayed at a week prior was so much better and staff was friendly.
To park your car; $65.00 on top of the room cost of $300.00, plus you had to tip the attendant. Couldn't use the luggage trolley, the bellmen had to use it only, another tip required. The frig & microwave could only be used while sitting on the floor and you had to operate a switch so you wouldn't blow a fuse when using microwave. Staff had their noses so far up in the air, that if it rained they would all drown. Not helpful at all.
Room size and cleanliness
I was charged more than the booking.com price
