not much..the morning coffee was good The front people were nice.
it smelled...the carpet was filthy...the tile looked gritty. the windows didn't open and one was cracked the free breakfast was gone by 6am so we missed it. the area outside was slum..Attorneys, bailbondmen, etc. Gangs were walking around in groups.I worried about out car
Everything was great.
Location is clsoe to DT Bakersfield
Staff was rude and inattentive. Rooms could def use cleaning - I found a decomposing cheeseburger in the fridge. Breakfast area was picked clean and nothing was restocked. Overall, would not stay there again.
I seemed that it was a pimp and his prostitutes running the motel alot of traffic all hours of the night alot of illegal activity going on there don't feel safe
Love the feel of an old timey hotel, almost like the shining movie.. Just a ill different then anything in town. Good views from room at night.. Almost like your nit in Bakersfield.
After dark can be a ill rough.. Ice situation sux.. If it's hot over 100dg AC really not the best. And the live in residents are a bit eccentric, but that's what makes it diff and kinda cool..
Most of it
One fay we foud our bath room dirty.
The location is perfect for bar hopping downtown.
It could be a little cleaner and the air conditioning may need maintenance
Nothing Unsecure Dirty ...
I loved the location, staff were really nice and pleasant
children running around unattended, carpet was disgusting, the price was too high, seemed like a lot of loitering outside the hotel
The front desk person was nice and the room was clean.
The room was way too hot due to the ancient air conditioner with one vent at the top of the wall. there was no thermostat, just a button for low, medium, and high. I had to sleep sideways at the foot of the bed to feel any air and ended up sweating all night. The mattress was so hard I might as well have been sleeping on a box spring. I wasn't able to take a shower due to there not being any way to turn it on. The faucet to the bath worked but no knob or lever to pull to switch to shower. It is what it is, you get what you pay for. Oh and the WiFi sucks.
The ease of checking in and the comfort of no disturbances during my stay, it is clean and everybody is friendly.
I like the front desk, staff, young lady was very nice and understandind, great help.
The area was not suitable for children, there were a lot of people who smoked, it was obvious that they use drugs too. I asked for two queen beds in the reservation but only got one bed, sheets were dirty, room smelled like smoke, the whole hotel smell like smoke, even though at time of check in they say you need to smoke outside, clearly that was not happening, I had to leave because my son had asthma and couldn't breath that unhealthy air, it was real bad, also hotel is in a bad location, in front ir across tge street from the jail facility. Needs an upgrade, needs to be more clean and needs to have less people smoking in the rooms. I left to another hotel, told the young lady I couldn't stay in the hotel, she was very nice and helpful.
These place have a false advertising
Unsecurity Dirtyness Noise Oldyness
Staff was friendly and caring. The building is classic and holds potential.
The furnishings and light fixtures were a bit worn, but structurally; holds so much potential! The huge windows and quiet rooms are a positive..
It was a nice and remember-able hotel. Cute in decor and pleasing to the eye. A nice change from chain hotels. Enjoyed my stay.
For some reason my tv was missing the remote, other than that nothing else comes to mine.
the quiet room
the elevator was broken so i had to walk up to the 3rd floor several times
I liked that it was close to the rabobank arena and starbucks. I liked that it had soft water.
Lovely young lady at reception when we arrived...very cheap, great value for money, undercover parking, excellent complementary breakfast that was delicious, we were very pleased.
I can tell that work was put into remodeling the room and it the decor looks good.
The duvet had a dirty spot (it was gross), the patio area would have been beautiful if it was cleaned and had proper lighting, and (the reason I won't go back) there were constantly people who looked like they were dealing drugs or doing other illegal things hanging out in front of the office. At first I thought someone might call the police to get them to leave or ask them to leave but no one did. Some of the people looked like they were homeless and I just think they shouldn't loiter and that your business has every right to ask them to leave.
The old rustic look was different but nice. The place was located near many popular hangouts . Nice and quiet.
Close to popular attractions, friendly accomodating staff.
this hotel has been around for a long time, and it fits it's name "HISTORIC" however the staff are very friendly and accommodating to their guests, my wife can be to much to handle at times, but the two ladies working at check in handled my wife's rude comments very professionally, they went above and beyond, to assist my wife in answering all of her questions and concerns, the lovely ladies went as far as to printing out maps, and directions to all our venues in Bakersfield, despite how rude my wife was,,,, Great customer service, the hotel is no Marriott, however the staff makes up for what the hotel it self is lacking, we will return and refer our family and friends oh yeah i almost forgot, "THE WAFFLES ARE AWESOME YOU MAKE THEM YOUR SELF" my wife's was not as big as mine, sorry for the mess around the waffle iron i was aiming for a waffle the size of my plate...... "IT WORKED" thanks john...
There was WiFi, however it was sketchy, it would take a while to load my pages, it could be based on the amount of people attempting to stream.
The front desk staff was as helpful and apologetic as possible for the ridiculously foul conditions we encountered here.
We were given two rooms, neither of which was what we booked and both of them were foul with one reeking of smoke. The staff tried to be accommodating, but the property was not anywhere close to being acceptable. We left within 30 minutes of arriving which was a terrible hassle considering it was 9pm and we were traveling with a toddler. There was nothing to redeem this hotel aside from the young lady working the front desk.
The desk clerks tried to be helpful.
When we first came to the room, the TV was not working. It took two hours to get it functioning. The floors were filthy. The wafflemaker was caked with black grime. A hotel worker staying in the room above ours, paced back and forth all night, apparently on the phone, and the noise kept my wife awake all night. When I tried to take a shower the next morning, the handle fell off the faucet; it was severely rusted. Had to take a bath because the control to switch the flow to the shower was missing. When we told the hotel we couldn't stay another night, the manager refused to refund our second night's payment (we had made a two-night reservation) even after all this. We have traveled quite a bit, and this is the worst place we have encountered. I had to dispute the charge through my credit card company.
