The facilities seemed to be greatly rundown since the last time I stayed. From the no pet policy which there were plenty of pets from the guest who were living there. To the no smoking which people had obviously been smoking in all the rooms. No airconditioning the windows were single pane windows and very dangerous. I didn't feel safe like I did the last time I stayed.
Location near the Robobank Arena.
Was very noisy as it is close to a busy train line. Didn't get much sleep!
no coffee pot in room & I mean no vessel for the coffee to go in & hair dryer didn't work plus no extra john tissue. just lousy management overall.
staff was very, very good & accommodating since the elevator didn't work
Creaky floors. Elevator not working. Maid never cleaned room or changed sheets, etc.
Friendly staff at desk. Good location. Easy in and out. Surprised they had morning breakfast.
There were cockroaches in the room
Staff was extremely nice and attentive. Especially Manuel.
WARNING: the modo, "you get what you pay for" does not apply here. you can get safety and cleanliness for 60$ in bakersfield and much of rural southern CA. their scam is to get you a low rate online, get you in where you actually see the place; when you see the residents (they are long term homeless and/or heavy drug users) and the dirty unsafe conditions, then you will want to leave, but the guy at the counter will try to sell it to you with lies (its clean, its safe); trust your gut, it is neither. the scam isn't having you stay overnight, it is keeping your money when you ask to check out immediately due to safety concerns. safety? when you walk in the counter guy will just ask you to sign in as a guest without even asking if you are a potential customer. once you sign in with whatever name, then you just go into the hotel (one door unleashes you to the all the hallways and floors (note the picked locks and pried door scars). when you walk on the highly stained doors with very stained walls, you will run into to characters that would send you running down the ally (twin excons, a thin tweeker gal, a conning street worker, marginal couples with babies...). when you enter the dark room you will notice the scars, patches, dirt spots and mostly the NOISE immediately. when i asked the counter guy about the noise, he said, "oh, that guy has his disabled son living there with him". Huh? "Living there"? the noise from the street and the hall were equally disturbing and unfortunately the rattling air conditioner doesn't provide enough noise to cover the outside noise. when i told the counter guy that "i don't feel safe here" and asked to check out. Although I had made the "reservation" only ten minutes before arriving (and no doubt they had plenty of rooms), i was told i could not have a refund due to the owners policy of taking peoples money without delivering a satisfying product.
it is a historic building, mid century; you can't really see it at night as residents have their windows covered tightly. that should have been my first warning. who actually darkens their windows?
The elevator still didn't work in March, after the review from January. The clerk explained that there had been an electrical storm two days earlier!? The hall and stair carpeas rather shabby. There was a new, low-flow toilet, but the sink faucet leaked ...
The staff was very helpful. The shower diverter was odd-- a bit pulled out from the end of the faucet. I couldn't figure it out. I called the desk; the clerk cheerfully described how it worked. I still couldn't get it. The clerk cheerfully came up and showed me how it worked. Not a trace of impatience.
The location n everything
not really the best area in town, its surrounded by bail bondsman shops
Close to amtrak, cool old style hotel.excellently maintained grounds.
Location, staff, price
No A/C at noon time, Windows are never been cleaned, no screen at window to prevent insects to get into the room. etc.. No attendance at the breakfast area, foods are empty but no one to refill at 8:00AM
staff is friendly
I couldn't figure.out how to use the shower
I felt Very comfortable and it was clean and the employees we're friendly
I did not know what to expect but everything that I needed was provided. I get up early so breakfast served at 6:00 made my day! I'll stay there again.
Everything. One of the permanent residents had a creepy paper sign outside of his door referencing that he would be going after someone.
There was covered parking.
I had seen a few bad reviews about this place. Calling it dirty, saying there was bad people hanging out around outside... Let me just say i didn't experience any of that. It was nice. The carpet wasn't the best, but what would i expect for $50?? Just don't put your stuff on the floor. Lol. It was worth it tho. I had a nice time. I would probably stay there again.
The staff was really nice. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The breakfast was nice too. I've never made my own waffles before. :)
elevator was not working, very noisy, a lot of homeless people around the hotel.
clean room and close to Mercy Hospital
Police sirens from police car lot next door were annoying to sleep through; elevator disfunctional
Nice breakfast of waffles and scrambled eggs
had roaches on the walls hotel had a really bad cigarette smell. I got charged a fee when the hotel already had a smell I'm very disappointed in the staff
No elevator. The interior of the hotel could be better (new curtains, bedspreads, etc.) Entry to the facility could be more inviting.
I appreciate hotels still functioning and representing "the old" culture. It was a good experience.
Room got quite cold in the night. We luckily had a thin throw with us so we used it. They replenish the breakfast every half-hour and the hot food goes fast as do the paper plates. You then have to wait a while for it to be refilled. Shower is tricky, we had to ask staff how it worked.
The room was furnished like a room at a much higher rate and was clean. Staff were very responsive and friendly. They serve a full breakfast with waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, cake. Water in shower was hot.
Staff, clean, beds, breakfast.
Everything was great! Very satisfied! (:
I like the hotel because it was very clean and organized inside and out. The location is a little bad for the hotel but other than that it is great! I'd love to live there it felt like a nice apartment to live in. (: &the shampoo and lotion smelled really nice.
Great room n really Nice patio great staff n it was such a great price.
I didn't like that it was that cheap. The bed sank in the middle, like a 600lb. person had jumped onto the bed.
I liked it was cheap
