The lodge is a refurbished "Historic Route 66" facility owned and operated by a very friendly Austrian family. It is a nostalgic return to the 50'-70's era coupled with a bit of European flair. The rooms are small by today's standards (but quite adequate) and are spotless, freshly painted and have flat screen cable TV. The staff will bring tea, coffee and ice to your room until 10 PM. A very good continental breakfast is served 7 AM to 10 AM. We stayed there there two different nights on from trip to the Grand Canyon. The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Parks are close by. Holbrook is a railroad town and the BNSF runs numerous trains through town. The noise is not a problem though. We loved the place and highly recommend it. It would be nice to have digital LED clock and coffee maker in the room.

The couple who owns the hotel put alot of effort into making the room quaint and local. The sinks are all lovely Mexican ceramics, the decorations are kitschy Southwestern, the extra toilet paper roll was held together with smiley stickers. The free breakfast included local fresh rolls with raisins and whole grains. The mattress was firm. The pillows were a bit flat but I always bring my own so no problem.

Globetrotter is an older 50's-60's style motel still commonly found throughout the US. Our accommodation consisted of one room with a double bed and small bath. The room was nicely furnished and very clean. The current owners, an Austrian couple and their daughter, are all friendly and aim to please. A traditional continental breakfast of cereal, fruits, toast/bagels and jams is included in the price. It is an excellent value for the money. And, a nearby local steakhouse, the Butterfield Stage Co., which has very tasty steaks, offers a 10% discount to motel guests. Not a "dislike" as such but the room does not have a telephone which is probably not a problem for most people in this age of cell phones. If you need a wake-up call, they will come and knock on your door at the requested time which works just as well as a ringing phone.

Pleasantly surprised, very nice room, very clean, very tidy, the staff were very friendly, and we really enjoyed our visit to this hotel, and to the Holbrook area in general. Painted desert and petrified forest were worth visiting, and Holbrook is a quaint town. The only thing we found lacking was a coffee machine in the room... I like to have a coffee as soon as I get up, rather than getting up and dressed, then going to the restaurant, but that is a small personal preference.

Very friendly owners and a good room. It was a real pleasure to eat breakfast from real plates and drink from real glasses" The owner even lent us a set of golf clubs to go and play on the local course! The vicinity of the railroad, although it did not disturb our sleep.

Pleasant welcome by the daughter of the owner. Papers were already printed out and brought us to our room right away. The motel itself has a vintage touch, we really enjoyed that. Breakfast was probably one of the best we had during our holiday. And had a nice chat with the owner. We stayed here because it was close to Petrified Forest.

This place was wonderful! Family owned by folks from Europe who wanted to open a hotel on historic Rt. 66. They were very friendly, the rooms were clean and really nicely furnished (including furniture handmade by one of the owners). We would totally stay here again! And there are some small but lovely restaurants just down the road, including Joe & Aggie's, a cafe that's been there forever and was part of the inspiration for the movie Cars. Get dinner there if you stay at Globetrotter! Nothing! Everything was great!

This is not your average motel. Though a work in progress (owner's words) it is already a top-notch Route 66 icon. Great design (note that painted sink), spotless clean, owners are superb hosts. A must-stay motel. Excellent value. There is nothing to dislike.

Bright colours in room - bright orange towels, colourful curtains, washroom sink. Mix of austrian and americana decor in lobby and rooms. Air-conditioner/heater was too noisy - the fan at lowest setting was too loud for me ( I am a v light sleeper)
