The hotel was clean, staff very friendly, breakfast very good
The cost of the same room almost doubled on the weekend
The entire staff was extremely nice and helpful!
The hotel is new and very clean. It is easy to walk to most places in downtown Charleston, but the hotel is on the very edge of the historic district, so some people might find it a hike to get around
We purchased breakfast with our reservation, assuming we could order off the menu, but when we got to the hotel, we were told that it was a buffet only. They do have a chef available to prepare eggs and waffles, but no information was available for those with food allergies
Comfy bed, helpful staff, good location to walk down King St & historic area.
We offered to pay our room stay 'up-front', but were told this was unnecessary, so paid before we left after a 3 night stay. When I arrived in NYC, discovered I had very little money left on my travel card as the hotel had taken out charges way above total cost as a "pre-authorisation". This put me in a difficult position financially for the next week until it was reversed.
Holiday Inn downtown advertised they were in the heart of downtown. Honestly, they are more like a mile and a half away. Still, the facility was new, the room immaculate. We did not eat in the restaurant, so I can't speak to it, other than to say their competitors offer free breakfast with an overnight stay. Holiday Inn charges $16.00
I felt the greater than 250 a night price would have been worth it if we were within walking distance of the Market and other French Quarter sites, however, it was quite the hike on foot to get to those locations, although doable. I would expect a few more niceties for this price point, like free brewed coffee in the lobby, and such, but the extras were always uh, extra, including the $16.00 breakfast. Wifi was free, but poor reception kept me from my emails. Maybe that was a plus.
Attractive hotel, easy access from highway, nice rooftop pool with comfortable seating to relax with a glass of wine, valet parking, clean comfortable room, good buffet in restaurant for breakfast with individually made omlets, pancakes, waffles etc.
Cleanliness, washer dryer, pool, gym. Great cleaning and restaurant staff.
We couldn't even get a bottle of water iunless we were in our room during turn down time. Didn't find that out until we asked for water at front desk-no help. We found some in gym on our own.
Good mid priced hotel in Charleston. Nice and quiet. Friendly staff with clean rooms. Small but usable pool. Good location with a tram stop nearby for free access to the historic area.
Limited selection on the menu in the restaurant.
The location was convenient because Meeting Street and King Street are the two main streets in the downtown historic district. It was a couple of blocks from the visitor center, and we walked to most places on our first visit to Charleston. We did drive down to battery park. The hotel was very clean and had obviously been updated.
I prefer to not valet park, so my preference is to stay at hotels with self-parking. This was hard to find at the hotels in Charleston, so it was generally not available. However, there are a number of public parking garages throughout downtown, and the flat rate of $16 per day is not bad.
Clean. Great staff.
Bar too bright and not a place I want to hang out
Great location and excellent staff. A special thanks to the executive chef, who was kind enough to make several lunch and dinner suggestions that were great.
Parking....while the valets performed well I prefer to park my own vehicle
The rooms The pool and surrounding area for cooling off and chilling out. The proximity to lots of good restaurants and bars. The DASH free trolley stops nearby. That it's one block from King Street and an interesting walk into the heart of Charleston, and there's supermarket one block away in the other direction.
The rate for the Friday night we were there was quite high which made our stay less good value. The options for food in the hotel were not very attractive and seemed a bit overpriced (not a huge problem with so many good eating possibilities close by).
The hotel was fantastic.
It will probably take a few years before the location is cleaned up. We witnessed a robbery at the gas station across the street.
The $16/night parking fee was a bit much
friendly staff good accommodations close to shops on King street
hard to get to 8-10 blocks from market area
Lobby decor and colors. Valet staff were great. Bath products were nice. Disposable cups rather than "iffy" glass. Comfy pillows.
Valet staff were overworked...much too long of a wait to have vehicle parked. Too high a price to not have breakfast included. Irritates me to have price rise when trip includes a weekend night...it's the SAME room!!! Limited tv channels. Sheets were scratchy.
Staff was very attentive Hotel was fine and that is the most important thing. Room was comfortable and clean.
Restaurant (although many fine restaurants in city) Location - in touring city we saw many other hotels in better locations.
Not so great area
All new, comfortable.
We booked the room including free breakfast, but got a voucher that wasn't sufficient to pay for the buffet. And actually, one pays taxes twice: with the booking and again in the restaurant. When we mentioned our disagreement it was not solved, but 'would be discussed with management'. I think the information on the booking site is misleading. Don't book including breakfast!
Drink machines not stocked on most floors
valet service was great
food was uneatable/on my wife's side
The Holiday Inn Historic Downtown offered a wonderful environment for a relaxing and quiet vacation. The staff, room service, valet parking, and excellent food exceeded our expectations. Staff was friendly, helpful and very professional. Great place to stay!!
The valet service needs some work.
Everything about the hotel was nice and new. The staff's service was excellent, the restaurant was very nice, we had a great stay
