This downtown San Antonio hotel is half a mile from The Alamo. Southern dishes are served at Phi Restaurant and Bar in the hotel lobby. The modern rooms feature 42-inch flat-screen cable TVs.

The easy way to reserve a room. The environment music. Parking lot.
Breakfast. Very poor. Towels, old & dirty
Cafes and food service available and location.
Cost of parking
Beautiful lobby. Excellent front desk. Good location to Riverwalk. Excellent front desk staff!! Enjoyed the live music in the bar!!
Noise from elevator during day. Should have a restaurant available around 7 pm other than Espresso. The knobs didn't work according to markings & faucet would turn around in the tub.
I called an hour ahead to ask for a small fridge. When checking in mentioned it again. I never received a fridge. I mentioned it again when checking out and she said "oh sorry about that but we have only have a limited number of fridges". I should have been told that when i requested one. Was going to pick up a few things at store but never got fridge gald i didnt or money wasted.
Clean. Great room with River view
Fire alarm late at night
location, great shower, great bed
hallways could be better lit.
Older feel and atmosphere of this hotel was a welcome difference compared to sterile feel and atmosphere of newer hotels.
No in room refrigerator.
This was a great place to have held the pageant! It is pretty and well ran :>)
Breakfast is bad, there´s no good fruits, not mature and always the same. There´s no fried eggs and the people is not so educate. They are more concern to clean the table and take out the plates them give a good service. Old lifts, breakfast not included... In the end the price is high, almost USD200/day...for a couple!
Hotel was clean, staff was super friendly and very eager to take care of problems, nice coffee bar in the lobby, guest rooms were comfortable and clean.
Daily self parking fee is a little expensive.
El Tropicano reminded us of a hotel in Las Vegas, minus the smokey haze. Nice, white, open lobby area that makes you want to linger. There is a coffee bar and the Tiki bar also in the lobby. They were offering a fall special for $30 you got parking and $20 to spend on the bar or breakfast or whatever. We chose to have the breakfast buffet. It was close to the worst I have ever had. Nice, clean linen on the bed and the room was large and clean also.
For $9.95 avoid the breakfast buffet. The bed was lumpy and so were the pillows.
The lobby was very clean, with a wonderful retro decor. The river view was beautiful. Very close to cultural events arenas.
The hotel is located about a mile walk from the Riverwalk restaurant areas.
I Loved my stay! I loved it all!
It was close to the river walk
The hotel was being painted, the staff wasn't friendly or helpful.
Service was phenomenal, everyone was really friendly.Clean rooms, clean pool. I would definitely come back.
I wast able to experience the Tiki bar. But still enjoyed our stay
Since we didn't get a hotel directly on the Riverwalk, we really enjoyed how close the drive was to downtown. We went touring around the hotel once we got unpacked and thought the design and decor was well established for the price. The staff was friendly and the ambiance of the bar at night was very relaxing thanks to the jazz-piano musician.
Our only complaint was our room being located right next to the elevator (this was a king bed room). We could hear the motor almost the entire time we were in the room and it was hard to fall asleep and wake up feeling relaxed. Also, one washcloth in the bathroom and the main decor pillow on the bed had some sort of small crusted stain that could have been cleaned off if done properly; which led me to believe they either didn't wash it recently (like any hotel should with their bedding and towels) or didn't care to rewash it since it was obvious as you looked around to inspect cleanliness. The manager was nice enough to comp us a breakfast though as we informed him of the elevator issue.
Good local, well priced, great coffee at bakery, the hand soap provided smelled amazing
Older hotel, Only one bath towel provided
Easy to get to.
Needs to be updated.
clean, quiet, relaxing, great beds
Wifi connection was poot
Nice location and the room inside was nice!
Parking charge was $18 a night! Hallway smell damped and stuffy . The curtain had torn spots!
Location and overall South Miami Beach, circa 1960's theme. Pool is kicking, just needs a swim-up bar. Balcony off room was a plus.
Room had musty smell as soon as we entered. Gave me a headache. They need ventilation in the bathroom and cleaner carpets. Parking valet service took too long. Property has potential but needs better management and some re-working of lobby, bar, breakfast area designs. Yes, this is retro but a bit stark for our tastes.
This place was so cute! It was originally built in the 60's, so the overall style and feel is from that era. They've updated, however, and the rooms are very comfortable, clean, and roomy. Every staff member that we came in contact with was courteous and very helpful. The pool was very large and the area around it offered lots of seating and shade for those not wanting the sun exposure. And they have a resident toucan! Very cool! Will definitely come back!
was advertised as 4 star but very far from it. It was just the basic
Just out of the town centre a nice easy walk On the river side to get to the shops and dinning places.
