Albuquerque is the biggest city in New Mexico in the USA and home to the International Balloon Fiesta during October. Rich in history, this beautiful destination has Pueblo Revival-style architecture with Sandia Mountains in the background.
Popular from the Bugs Bunny cartoon phrase, ‘I knew I should’ve taken that left turn at Albuquerque’, this metropolitan place is crossed by the Rio Grande River. Travellers should not miss the city’s old town with the 18th-century buildings, narrow streets and cosy restaurants serving Mexican dishes.
Lush in greenery, Albuquerque features the Rio Grande Botanic Garden and the Rio Grande Zoo. You can take the Sandia Peak Tramway and enjoy the panoramic views of the city, the mountains and the surrounding areas.

We were only able to stay a single night. We look forward to returning to Albuquerque to explore the area. We were able to dine in the Old Town area and walk around a bit, but there is much more to the city. Next time!

Wonderful part of NM but you have to watch the neighborhoods you go to in the city itself. It is a wonderful home base for traveling around northern NM as it is less expensive than Santa Fe. Great restaurants like El Patron and Flying Star and don't miss Old Town or the BioPark. Its nice East/West street orientation makes is easy to get around and both 40 and 25 are good roads.

Traffic congestion, everyone speeding and tailgating, trash...
Traffic congestion, everyone speeding and tailgating, trash blowing around, homeless people everywhere, and unsafe. Very hot in summer months, dusty, and dry. Flat roof and stucco architecture result in a third world country appearance.
People are friendly, and it has an old world sort of charm. The national parks are interesting, as are the science and hot air balloon and telephone museums. The tram to the Sandia ski lift is scenic. Great Mexican food.

This is a city you should avoid... coming in on the highway...
This is a city you should avoid... coming in on the highway from the West, the first thing you see is drifts of trash along the highway. When you get closer, it just seems like fentanyl and homelessness central. It does have some nice places for sure, such as the Southwest jewelry shopping. I'm sure a lot of people would point to worse cites like Chicago, but still there are much nicer cities.
I appreciated the staff and the cleanliness of the facility. It was a little more than what I wanted to pay for a place to stay, but it was well worth it. Staff was warm and welcoming and very gracious....especially with a pet. It has two restaurants right next door with very good food. It was located close to the Highway, so easy to find. There is a small little walking path right behind the hotel, so it is convenient for pets. About a 20 minute drive to Old Town, but an easy drive. You should stay here. I think you will like it.
Casas de Suenos is charming with beautiful gardens, fountains and sculptures. It is a wonderful place to stay when in Albuquerque. The staff is helpful, the breakfasts are great, and the setting, a true hidden treasure. It’s next to Old Town, which is a center of shops, restaurants and a short hop to the Botanical Gardens and the Pueblo Cultural Center. The Albuquerque Museum is nearby and is fabulous. Spring is beautiful in New Mexico and Casas de Suenos is one of those perfect places to experience it.
The location was picked by old friends that we were meeting for the first time in 2 years. They knew Albuquerque and thought we would enjoy browsing the stores in the "Old Town" and the hotel was very close to that location. The overall quality of this hotel was the best of the 6 we stayed in during our 15-day sojourn in Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. Despite COVID-19, Holiday Inn did have a "grab 'n' go" free breakfast that was of better quality than others of this type.
The breakfast was good, the room was large and had all required amenities (microwave, large refrigerator, kitchen sink, AC, WLAN, etc.). The staff was very kind and helpful. Also there are a lot of parking spaces at the hotel, so there was never a problem to find a space. Nearby the hotel you can find some malls, fast food restaurants, gas stations and a Walmart to buy food and drinks.
The El Vado was exactly as advertised. There were many good dining options in the immediate vicinity. The hotel was in a convenient location for lots of local attractions, including Old Town Albuquerque and the Botanical Garden. We were even treated to live music in the courtyard on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The property has a beautiful running theme. The kids enjoyed the pool and the Teepee. The location of the hotel puts you around plenty of restaurants. It was clean. The staff was nice. It’s a unique stay that’s well priced and pet friendly. Perfect perk to anyone on a family road trip.
Hotel is a little bit outdated, very noisy, thin walls. Room was outdated, nothing special.
Breakfast was pretty good, much better than other hotels for that price range.
Bonus was free water bottles which is very good considering you are in the dry climate.
Support from the people very good -they helped me to find a transport to the airport. Taxi are not very reliable in Albuquerque. Esspecially the support from Paul was very good to get to the airport in time.
Staff were lovely and we had one of the nicest meals of our trip in the on site restaurant. Room was a good size, wifi was great and the style/decor and feel of the hotel was really enjoyable.
Nice, conveniently located near the old town (possible to reach it on foot).
Nice old-fashionned wood furniture.
Efficient shuttle service to the airport.
Dinner options nearby.
