Lobby, too much people
Everyone was friendly
Hotel has a parking garage attached to it. Downstairs bar open late with reasonable prices for mid-town. Excellent pressure in the shower. Very clean. Location was very close to theaters, shopping and restaurants. Would stay again.
Bathroom was dated. Entire room could use new wall paper and updating.
Willingness and friendliness of all staff.
The location was ace and the friendliness of the bell guys was brilliant.
Rest of the staff though ummmmm not that friendly or helpful.
Location is good. Great breakfast restaurant close by.
Swimming pool is rather small.
Cafeteria Pool Concierge Location
I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. Our room smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. The tiny bathroom was hideous - the bath tap dripped all night long. When we first arrived, there were pubic hairs in the bath from the previous guests. The bath had strange white strips in it which were coming loose, with a worn looking bath 'curtain' hanging along it. The hot water wasn't particularly warm. Small bath towels provided, ridiculous! Not a single shelf to put toiletries on, irritating. The 'sun block' curtain was frayed, worn and revolting with holes in it. We were woken up at 3am one morning by rowdy drunk men outside our room. A bit scary. Just a crummy hotel! Would never stay there again.
Easy to access via public transport from JFK Friendly and efficient staff Room was clean and fairly spacious (for NY!) Good location, close to the lower end of Central Park, various subway stations. As a woman travelling on my own, I felt safe walking in the neighbourhood at night getting to and from the hotel.
The lift was quite slow on a busy morning when checking out - not really anything that can be done about that when everyone wants to check out at the same time!
Great Location and roof top pool for a reasonBle price.
It's like the hotel got stuck in the 80's. No late check out, not too friendly personnel.
Rooms a very good size. Clean and comfortable. Excellent location.
Maid knocked on door 8.00 to clean the room !!!
NYC hotel rooms for two are abundant and you can find good deals. When you have a third person, in this instance our high school son, it is harder to find an economical room. This hotel nailed it in that regard. Our room was plenty big, we had two queen size beds, and best of all - it is in the heart of midtown Manhattan. We will happily stay here again.
So the Midtown Manhattan Holiday Inn is not new and luxurious, and if that is what you are looking for you might want to look elsewhere, but be prepared to pay double for it. What this hotel was, tho, was clean, spacious, and economical AND in Midtown Manhattan.
Very well located. Overall everything was ok.
Waiting time for elevators, need improvement. Rooms in need to be updated.
Bathroom door is a bit older.
Size of the room, price, and location.
The staff was great. Especially the concierge Wanda ! Told us a great place for pizza that was only a half a block away.
poor experience with wi-fi the entire trip (3 days), highlighted by total failure for several hours the final day.
location, and price when I can get a discounted price
do not like the towels
Long lines waiting for the elevator every morning and evening. Unacceptable service at the bar (we left after 30 minutes of being ignored completely)
Cleanliness, views, pool, comfy beds and location.
Lack of tea making facilities (a kettle and tea bags). Bar a bit pricey for non-alcoholic beverages. Some noisy neighbours in nearby rooms.
Location King bed room was spacious and clean. welcome message on the TV
the lady in the reception was rude when we asked if they offer a luggage storing possibility on the check out date. We had a few more interactions with the same person within our stay and none of them were pleasant. Curtains were old so you could see holes and the light was coming through.
Location, pool, big room
Slow wifi, very cold in the rooms
Terrific location only a ten minute walk, if that, to the busy centre of NYC. Also close to a subway station, easily walkable with a suitcase. Well temperature controlled, but no in room control.
Decided to go for a couple of drinks in the hotel bar before going out. Relatively friendly staff once you managed to get hold of one of them. Until we queried one of the drinks on our final bill, then the female member of staff, I assume the bar manager got very defensive and unpleasant. Eventually removing the drink but putting the price of the other drink up, with the excuse she originally got it wrong. Wasn't too sure on that one. A problem with not having bar drinks prices written anywhere I suppose. There was also no option in the tip either. 20% included on the bill. They certainly didn't deserve that. Wifi in the room terrible. Only way to get consistent wifi was to sit on the floor next to the door to the room. No wifi in the bar either. Spoke to reception about this, who said an engineer would come out to check it. Sounded like a way of getting rid of me. No change to the quality of the wifi later.
We received good service when our sink was plugged and air conditioner was not working.
The pool closes at 6 pm which was not helpful nor did we know this when we booked. We were usually not back until about 6 and out again about 7:30 pm would be better if pool stayed open until 8 pm. Also we sat in the hallway to use the wifi as it was much faster there.
