Unfortunately the hotel lift was broken and ad been for some time, we were on the 2nd floor. We were in Portsmouth for a family wedding so had many suitcases between the 5 of us which had to carried up the stairs.
Staff very friendly. Coffee availability in room and lobby.
Elevator out of service for a few days, but was repaired during our 10 night stay.
Excellent location, decent price. Good staff.
Elevator wasn't working. 5th floor room was a hike. Not a big deal for me, but for some not much fun. Room service detritus was in hallways as late as 1am. Not an attractive walk to our room
5 minute drive to downtown and much cheaper than downtown hotels. It was very easy driving to town and parking was cheap and convenient (1$/hour). The hotel room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the bed was great- best hotel bed I have slept on
Everything else was great.
We toured New England, using six different hotels. This was by far the best for equipment in the room for making really hot water for a half-decent cup of tea.
We'd like a bedside cabinet within reach for both of us, together with a light.
The hotels dinner and breakfast was great as was the service!
This hotel needs some serious work door to room was scratched, dingy and look more like a door to a men's locker room. Bathroom had dirt in the corners, peeling wallpaper, bottom of bathroom door split with wAter damage. Luckily I had 2 beds as I had to strip one because of the blood on the cover and on the tv card. The wifi was always dropping. At the suggestion of the front desk, I had reboot my iPad 4 times but the signal was between 1 and 2 bars most of the night. Warning sleep somewhere else!
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a nice addition.
Pool was horrible!!! Too small, dirty looking and freezing. Not worth even having a pool. Hot tub would have been a nice offset. Price of rooms way too high for what they offered.
Offered small room with missing towels. Asked to move but was told hotel was full. Five minutes later another room was made available. This was to be a room with excessive vibrating noise from the AC system. Informed front desk who sent someone to the room but was advised there was nothing they could do as the hotel was full. Had very little sleep. Cancelled the following nights stay. Worst Holiday Inn experience we have ever had. Much more i could say about the inside of the building. Certainly not value for money.
They had to move us 3 times before they finally provided us with a room that had a/c that worked.
The shower drain was broken, so we had to shower in water up to our knees!
Great staff.. Nice lobby and exterior.. Rooms another story.
Filthy carpeting in rooms and halls. Very beat up furnishings. Bathrooms relative clean but beat up and stained sink and tub. Bed covers not clean but sheets were clean and bed was comfortable. Could be nice with a major renovation. Not worth 189 dollars per night. Ok in a pinch.
The rooms were very cozy and clean. Very nice walk in shower and comfy beds. Good room service and good breakfast.
The WiFi is terrible, its in and out and apps don't work off of it.
The net bad
The rooms where dirty, not just normal light dust here and there, but thick dust , bugs stuck on walls. Curtains being held up by a push pin. The linens smelled like mildew, had to request new ones. The hotels was overpriced. Walls where so then you could her the people next to you. I was appalled by the filth in the room, was unable to get another hotel due to last minute booking. Had to call front desk at 130 am to complain of the party that was going on next door. Hotel needs to be completely renovated. I was so upset with how this stay was I emailed Holiday Inn Head Quaters that night. I was told I would have meet with a manager in the am prior to check out. This did not happen because no manager was on duty. I could go on but will never saty here again, even if it was for free.
It was easy to find off the highway.
The restaurant wasn't open for lunch. The floors in the room were wet, as if they had just finished shampooing the carpets. Beds were a bit hard.
Location Food Comfort
Had to wait for the elevator and when it finally arrived on the 4th floor is was filled with people plus an employee with a some sort of bin. maybe a laundry bin? I would have thought she should have exited the elevator and given the spot to waiting customers with luggage.
Felt like a four star hotel!
Comfortable bed Very clean Friendly staff
Not a good value for quality of facility.
The bed was comfortable. I believe we went on a weekend there was a wedding near by so we were stuck on the 6th floor, which you have to access by stairs (not a huge issue as we're young, but if it were an older couple I'm sure they wouldn't have been so happy.) They did give us a voucher for 2 complimentary drinks at the lounge downstairs for the inconvenience, which again may have been an issue to another couple who maybe doesn't drink.
The pool was ridiculously small. We booked this hotel specifically because it was in our price range for a hotel with a pool. With that being said, the price was a little steep for the location of the hotel. It's not really THAT close to downtown Portsmouth. For about $50 more a night, we could have been a lot closer.
Comfort and cleanliness
Distance from downtown, it takes 20 minutes
Everything. The staff was extremely rude. I was there for a wedding and the woman at the front desk (Alicia) gave my friend and I the wrong welcome bag (from the wrong wedding). Thirty minutes later she called our room to let us know that we had the wrong bag. When we told her that we had already opened it she said "well now the other wedding party is going to be short one bag, thanks a lot!" To which we replied, "you gave us the wrong bag after we told you the name of the wedding we were going to." It made no difference, she continued to blame us for her mistake. The hotel was a dump, the two of us could not fit in the bathroom at the same time because it was ridiculously small. Definitely not worth the price. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
the greeting as a late night checkin was great-cheerful and organized. the food for breakfast was right on time.
i think more outlets close to bedside tables would be much more convenient
Found old pizza crust on the floor of my room, which made me wonder about over all cleanliness.
No hot tub
