Next to the shops and restaurants at La Cumbre Plaza in Santa Barbara, California this hotel offers massage services, guestrooms with free high-speed wireless internet access and an on-site...
Score from 262 reviews Very good
the pool was mellow, the bar was chill, the outside lounge areas were very relaxing.
no pool service.
Complimentary happy hour wine and cocktail
Pet friendly hotel -- no charge for pets and no size/weight restrictions. I liked being close to shopping and strip mall restaurants but others may not. A bit pet-heedless -- no dog relief areas, no trash cans and waste bags provided. Reasonable rate for a pet-friendly hotel in the Santa Barbara area.
Guests should ask that the resort fee of $28 total be refunded. You get free wifi as a Kimpton Karma member, but the Goodland hotel charges this resort fee in part so I can get "free wifi as a Kimpton Karma member." As a matter of fact, if you pay the resort fee and don't want to sign up as a Kimpton Karma member, then you will still be charged for wifi, even after paying the $28 (total) resort fee. Now, that is ridiculous. There is no hot tub at the hotel, it's a basic hotel gussied up to be a luxury hotel. Few working ice machines.
Social hour, restaurant, bar and lounge areas are very nice.
Rm 263 door not sealed so a cold draft (44F) blew across the bed all night despite the heater. Daytime privacy less than optimal as Roman shade left lower 12" unobscured. Mentioned issues at checkout
The so-called resort fee.
Loved the ambience and atmosphere of the whole property. The restaurant/bar happy hour was great.
The food and service at the restaurant was great. The food and drinks were very reasonably priced. The live poolside DJ was a nice touch...very calm atmosphere. A good place to hang out.
I thought the resort fee was high, especially for no free wi-fi. Our room was nice, but the carpets were filthy and stained. As well, the hotel price itself was on the high side... not sure I'd stay for the same rate.
I think that it was due to the recent renovation, but our bathroom door would not close. They also had no bathroom sink counter, when there was a lot of space next to the sink for that. Our room had no towels either, we needed to ask for them.
This hotel was FAR from ready for guests - and we were never notified of this. Construction was supposed to be finished in June.
Staff was courteous and sympathetic to how horrible the site was.
Staying in the middle of a construction zone, finding and exposed exacto blade on the ground, the smell of paint and fumes in the room, the hotel looking NOTHING like pictures posted.
Great, accommodating staff. Finished rooms are nice. Pool is lovely.
Construction dominates the site. Only on towel in a room for two!
Access to Santa Barbara
Me, my son and my mom booked this hotel last minute for my little sisters graduation from UC Santa Barbara. When we got there we realized it was under construction but due to the graduation most other hotels were booked. When we went to check in they were out of double bed rooms so they gave us two King sized beds. Once we started on to our room we noticed that the construction was in the front but the back where we were placed was remodeled and beautiful. The rooms were very nice, my mom is thinking about decorating her bedroom similar... They had a pool that my son and I enjoyed and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Excellent customer service Comp'd me one night's stay because they overcharged my credit card Room was very nice bed was pretty comfortable
Overcharged my credit card Construction
Our room was comfortable and updated.
The hotel was under construction and no in room coffee.
The rooms that were actually done were nice.
I was unaware of construction which was disappointing to arrive to. It woke us up in the morning with sounds of jack hammers. It was very cluttered and there were a lot of nails in the parking lot. I was also disappointed that I had to ask for a discount, it should have been offered immediately for inconvenience.
It was in a good location. The staff were very friendly. It was mostly clean and comfortable. Nice televisions.
We weren't notified they were under major construction. It was loud, dusty, dangerous, and had no conveniences i.e., soda machine, ice machine, room service, etc. Wi-Fi was intermittent.
It was a construction and we weren't informed prior to our trip there. The staff was excellent and assisted us when we booked a different motel instead.
overall, the room was comfortable. I like the decor. I like the accessible parking location near UCSB - my reason for traveling (to move out my college daughter for the summer)
the hotel was under great construction and the website didn't disclose. none of the ice machines were working. only one set of towels was provided... however, when we called for another set one was promptly delivered. wish the body towels were larger. I asked for 2 beds and when I checked in, it was confirmed my room had 2 beds...unfortunately, my room had 1 bed and although the front desk was willing to switch me, I already transferred my stuff to the room and it was too much work to do it again with a small toddler.
There was nothing to like about this hotel, it was under total construction. Upon arrival we were place at another Hotel which cost twice the amount we would have paid at Hotel Goleta. What was very upsetting is that the hotel never notified of the situation.
Since they made this blunder, they should have paid for both nights we stayed at Ramada Limited. Because we had no say were we would stay. The price at the Ramada was $350.00 a night, twice the cost if we would have stayed at Goleta. I hope that you can refund the $350.00 we had to pay.
KUDOS TO THE STAFF! Considering working out of a mobile unit, surrounded by construction, the Front Desk staff had it together better than many established "recognized" hotels I've stayed with. After a very long drive from NorCal, it was refreshing to be greeted by smiling faces with excellent attitudes and customer service at 1130pm! Because we were there for the 9am UCSB Commencement 2014, I was extremely concerned about timing with regards to checking out. The hotel was gracious in extending our check out time to accommodate our needs. There was absolutely no hesitation on their part. My daughter and I were able to relax, and enjoy the celebration without having to fight traffic and get back in time to check out. The room was spotless, comfortable, nicely appointed, and quiet. We will definitely be back to Hotel Goleta.
No coffee maker in room FYI - Currently being completely renovated - construction materials in areas. Didn't interfere with our stay at all.
How disgusting to travel 200 miles to your so called 4 star hotel to find out it was under construction. You should let people know when they book a room of the problem. Thanks for nothing. I will leyt everyone I know , family and friends at ucsb about my misfortune with hotel Golita. Thanks again for noyhing
We liked the room itself and the fact that pets were welcomed. It was convenient for us in that we were visiting family both in Goleta and in Santa Barbara
We were aware that the hotel was being renovated but thought that it would be much further along. We felt the room should have been discounted as there were NO amenities available.
Room was clean - I think just remodeled. Convenient location.
I could hear the people in the room next door. The 1st room I was given wasn't really ready and wifi didn't work so I had to move. Place was completely under construction - more so than the website indicated. I had to ask for a couple of the amenities - place just wasn't quite together yet. Really the price should have been further discounted given the condition of the property.
Good location not too far from downtown.
The hotel was under construction, pool was inaccessible as well as other parts of the hotel. I think prices of the rooms should have been discounted more only because of the inconvenience and the room we stayed in looked like it had some unfinished work going on. I had asked in advanced for a layaway bed and it wasnt there when we checked in. I took my parents out to dinner after checking in and while at dinner I called and asked for the layaway to be left outside the door or even brought inside which we didn't mind but when we get there after dinner it still wasn't there. So we had to call again and finally it was delivered. The size of the room for a so called king size suite was on the small side the only king sized part about it was the bed. I feel I was just sold a king sized bed room not a suite.
