Score from 1550 reviews Very good
Really good: price, easy to get from downtown and very comfortable
The common spaces could be a bit nicer
From the look, the owner of this hotel loves music. Indeed, the receptionist told me on early arrival everything there is to know about music and bars around, and helped me to lay my luggage by them.
The owner dislike my oppinion about policing in america, and suggested either I shut up or leave.
The free breakfast was good, there were several choices. The location is only 10 minutes on the train downtown.
Close to subway station,clean,nice staff
Quilt is too thin
FREE BREAKFAST. FREE WIFI. FREE LINENS. FREE TOWEL. FANTASTIC LOCATION. CLOSE PROXIMITY TO BLUE LINE. CLEAN MODERN ACCOMODATIONS.
MORE OPTIONS FOR BREAKFAST WOULD BE PREFERABLE
We arrived early so we dropped our bags & went to explore; when we returned our bags had been taken to our room which was very kind & helpful especially as there are a couple flights of stairs. Th room was clean & decor looked fresh. We were very comfortable & warm & had no problems sleeping as the place as quiet. Location is good; the train is only down the road & there are places to eat nearby. Good value for money & would recommend if on a budget.
Some staff friendlier than others.
The cost. The free breakfast. It is very close to the train. It is near to the main landmarks in Chicago.
Very small the room, though I know that it was because of the low cost ($48 per night). The breakfast should be more diverse, it is the same all the days.
- location - facilities - surrounding
Had a great time at Holiday Jones. Staff was friendly and the hostel itself was in a good location close to the train station. Bed was comfortable and room and bathrooms were clean. Hostel has a very cool and hipster feeling which I loved! Highly recommended!
Not a thing!
Great location, close to the blue line. The bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms very clean and spacious. We loved the view we got from our window. I highly recommend this place.
The walls are paper thin so if you have loud, obnoxious neighbors, you'll hear them all night long.
-clean bathroom -nice bed (doesn't shake easily) -staffs are nice -breakfast is ok (not great, but seriously what would you expect more from a hostel?) -location is good: 3 min from subway, several bars nearby, Starbucks next door, and pretty quiet at night
I left my luggage after I checked out and went wandering around downtown. However, when I was back, there are no staff at the counter and I was locked outside the public door (which was usually not locked before). I rang the doorbell, but the staff answered said he'll be back in a few minutes. It was raining outside, which made me a bit upset. Fortunately, another staff just came from outside and let me in. I would suggest they have at least two staffs at the counter so that if one is absent there's another one that can help the customers.
Clean room, friendly staff and good location. Will be back next time.
A little bit noise.
It was nice and clean more than I expect. Staffs were cool and kind.
I used triple room and it was quite small.Because I had so many lugguages. And there were no quilt. Just thin blanket. When heater goes well, it didn't matter.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Even providing a map and advice on travelling...
The breakfast is not great.
Location was great very close to loads of transport links. Plenty of restaurants around. Staff were friendly. WiFi was really good. Nice building.
I stayed 3 nights. Loads of noise on two nights. I woke up 5 times at least. Every time someone shuts their door it woke me up. The heating system was from the ceiling so if you slept on the lower bed it was pretty cold however upper bed was warm. Room was a bit small.
Very clean room and helpful hotel staff
There is a little bit cold, but the staff provided a heater.
Staff is so friendly, the installations are great and comfy. Also shared bathrooms are always clean and there's a ton of them, so there was always an available shower. Wicker Park is a fun neighborhood with tons of places to go out to.
I loved the staff - suggested great food and shopping. The value was unbelievable-a great deal for the room WITH wifi and breakfast - AWESOME! They held my bags for the day allowing me to sightsee. I had never stayed at a hostile before, but I will definitely be back! I am so grateful I found them online, thank you for such a fabulous experience. I know where I'm staying next time I'm in Chicago!
Location is really good. Staffs are really kind. If I go to Chicago again, I will go this hostel again. The best hostel ever.
the woman check in staff person was very friendly positve happy...the place was spotless, and didn't seem busy and is very close to main public transport. Bagel Breakfast a thoughtful touch..yet should be set up in the upstairs cafe area where there is natural light:) if it's not being used as a coffee bar...there you could have a black board with what's happening in Chicago that day!
Place felt sterile...empty. There were no activities or board where you could see things, events to do. The advertisements make it look like a hip happening place...yet it appears the management is cool just keeping it like a hipster hotel. It doesn't take that much effort to hang a board and have a staff member write out what cool play or music is happening that day/night. Maybe musuems to visit...instead the one staff person mostly stares at their computer all day. Otherwise very decent place to crash.
1st that we love about the hotel is 2 blocks away from the subway..near to any cheap food and main Attraction places (such as the Bean/Adler Planetarium).. the hotel provide us a paper with all the recommended food stores..2nd thing that we love is when we're were lost in there..we found this awesome mexican food 2 blocks away from subway to the left.. it was superb.. but i forgot what does it called.. 3rd thing that ME AND MY SISTER LOVE IS the Staff in the hotel are super Friendly.. starting with J.J, Teal, Alfredo, and last but not least the awesome Ryan.. these people that you could rely on for Questions and accompany..
I needed to spend a night in Chicago on business on very short term and didn't want to spring for an expensive chain hotel near the airports or downtown. Holiday Jones was a great affordable option. Check in and Check Out were smooth and seamless, and they were happy to hold onto my baggage while I explored Chicago during the day after checking out. I took the train into Chicago and flew out of O'Hare. Holiday Jones is between the 2 on the Blue Line, so it was super convenient. Getting to O'Hare was super simple. The lobby had lots of comfortable seating and outlets and WiFi, great place to chill with your friends or just enjoy the hostel surroundings. The restaurants in the neighbourhood seem fantastic. The Deluxe Single Room was like a great no-frills hotel room. Nice washroom, comfy bunk bed and great amazing natural light. No frills stool and shelf against the wall to get some work done. WiFi worked well.
Room for Improvement: I ended up forgetting my shampoo on the train into Chicago, would be great if they had a wall dispenser of Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash. Added cost for them, but if they're already providing towels why not some cheap shampoo! Something to consider: No lifts/elevators in the building, and they have a narrow staircase. If you've got a lot of luggage it may be a pain to get it all the way up and all the way down. Fine for me, and I'm sure they'd help you out if you weren't up for it.
Employees were all really friendly, helped us whenever we had questions. The breakfast was really more than just bagels with cream cheese. There is a kitchen with everything you need to cook and also a tv and the possibility to play airhockey and soccer
