The history. Architecture. Staff friendly.
No phone in room. No rolling luggage rack.
That you could see the Hollywood Sign, that the walls of the hallways were lined with "Old" Hollywood Photos!!!
The room was very small or just had too much furniture
Fabulous view! Loved the character of the hotel.
Bed and pillows were very firm and not comfortable.
Spacious rooms Clean Facilities
Wifi didnt work. Wasn't even available from our rooms. Even after telling the staff nothing changed
Good parking, Wi Fi. Staff very pleasant and very helpful. Was a fair location for what we needed.
Needs a bit of tender loving care. Bathrooms updating or refurbishing. It is as the name says historic.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. I loved the old photos on the walls. Hotel was quiet. Free parking. Free WiFi. Right near Paramount Pictures.
It's a lovely place to stay! Staff are very helpful if you need help in what to do in and around hollywood! Go stay here!
Very friendly staff. Clean rooms, nice atmosphere. Location good for visits to hollywood, universal, etc. Good value for money.
Beds so-so (don't like plastic covers round the matrass).
The aints in the room
No late night eatery
The hotel was clean but it was very very tired so did not appear clean, rather like the twilight zone. It was also a long way out of town and for $10 more we stopped at the holiday inn express the following night, a far better hotel and location
Good wifi in the room and good location 2 minute walk to paramount pictures and generally good driving distance from Hollywood, LA and other places.
Still haven't been paid back the deposit I paid on the day that we checked in despite assurance from reception staff that it would be rebated up to 48hrs only after check-out.
Cleanliness, as well as the employees
Location is perfect
Rooms are outdated, need renovation
Noisy rooms tiny bathrooms with the toilets so close to the shower..
This hotel is not vintage...It is just extremely old. It would even better to say time-worn. Сheap and old plumbing, requiring repair, huge gap under the door. For me it was very strange that there is no basic services: no phone, no safe..Houskeeping doesn't do well their job: the staff didn't make our bed, and there were some stains on the bedspread. The location is not as good as it was described.Almost no shops or restaurants around, and very far from major attractions
the free wifi the historical feeling to it
Room floor is dirty, 4 dirty towels at check in, only one person as staff, rennovating other rooms, so basiclly my room was facing a construction site!!!extremely overpriced
A lot of things rooms bathrooms wi fi service front desk
We did like the central location of the hotel, close to Paramount Studios, Melrose Avenue, the 101, West Hollywood, etc. Free parking was definitely a benefit and the room was spacious. Free Wi-Fi is always a plus, although it was a bit slow for my taste. I did like the ambience of the Hollywood history, although two of the pictures were captioned wrong on the third floor.
Upon checking in, didn't realize how noisy Melrose is! 24-hour traffic and noise from the street below. A/C in room didn't work too well, so we had to keep the windows open the entire time. Bathroom was small, hardly room for one person at a time. My boyfriend got accosted by a pimp during our stay right outside the hotel, which is kind of unsettling and I didn't feel 100% comfortable because the doors are unlocked 24/7 and there is no security system to get to the upper floors.
the staff, the hotel style, the tight but classy elevator, the great wifi, the location (only if you have a car... but who doesn't when you're in LA?)
not enough hooks in the bathroom.
The building has lots of character and I liked it. It's a bit spooky though, the hallways look like something from a mental hospital in a horror movie and the rooms are the cells. But it's cool.
No food or drink facility other than a vending machine
Location was key for hotel, the price was good comparing to most over-priced hotels in LA. The hotel had charm, was clean and bed was huge.
Only one thing, no phone in your room, got to use your cell to call the front desk.
The location - very central Hollywood area but a nice neighborhood - rare to find such an inexpensive hotel in an LA location that is not seedy. Very comfortable bed. Also liked all the retro, historical touches
The place doesn't have as much character as photos and superficial appearances might suggest. Internet was slow.
THE old style hotel combined with modern convinences to include wi fi, flatscreen TV's the ability to open the window if you like with the old 20's art deco décor I love this place
