just across the street is a very well equiped supermarket and some restaruants that also offer take out food. There is a beautiful boardwalk along the water all the way past whalers village to the Hyatt , probalby a good 5 mile return walk. great swimming and snorleling at Airport beach just steps away
Convenient, friendly staff, clean rooms and facilities, great pool, on the beach
Very comfortable and spacious unit. Loved the large lanai. might not have liked being on an outer view room. loved both bedrooms looking out toward pool and beach. loved the depth of the family pool for granddaughter - she learned to swim at Honua Kai!
No bad experiences but would have liked a warmer pool in the morning!
The resort and the location
-more than 20% taxes and hidden taxes as being daily charges!! -only one restaurant on the Beach and not of high quality. Just OK for the beach! -no room service- room cleaning on demand Beach chairs & sun umbrella to be rented Receptionnists not really "welcoming"
The room was great. The pool was just the right size. The service at the pool was great. Duke's was a nice restaurant for breakfast and lunch.
The drive around the place to get to the second building, although we only had to do it once because of the rear gate.
Location. View. Facilities. Restaurant.
Pricey. More lighting needed in bathrooms.
Rooms were nice Grounds were Beautiful Staff were very friendly and accommodating Duke's Restaurant right on the Resort.
Not enough lounge chairs by the pool, could not sit by pool once during our week's stay Valets were not helpful
I really liked the location so close to down town Lahiana and Kapalua. the weather was so beautiful. l liked the pools and the vicinity to the beach. a supermarket was right across the street, in walking distance. It has ample barbecue stations. The entire resort was beautifully furnished and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The only thing I did not like was the bed pillows, I woke up with a stiff neck every morning, maybe provide some feather pillows, like other resorts?
We loved the choice of pools with plenty of sun lounges, the BBQ facilities, the self-contained apartments, Dukes bar, live music in the evening as you watch the sunset.
There were no instructions in the apartment so we had no idea how to use the coffee maker, ice machine, washing machine etc. The daily pool fee of $29 is excessive and should automatically be included in the room price, not added on each day.
The resort grounds were simply beautiful. We all enjoyed swimming in the several pools on the grounds, especially the water slide and waterfalls. The beach was quiet and steps from our door, and all of the hotel services to enjoy the beach were also fantastic. I personally enjoyed scuba diving the reef right in front of our hotel.
Food prices were higher than I expected, next time we'll stay in a suite again (loved our suite!) and prepare more food in the room.
Location, amenities, room size, ability to accommodate 8 adults
Lahaina is a very comfortable location of Maui to commute to most visited and important spots of the island. Honua Kai resort is located on Kaanapali beach and has huge territory very convenient and perfect place for our 12 months and 2,5 year kids to run, play and have good times. The car rental companies and grossery store is opposite resort across the road. We had 3 bedroom apartment with fantastic terrace with ocean view. The beds are superb, the kitchen facilities have anything you need and even exceeds your needs . Parking is free. Plenty of towels, dish washing machin, washing machine and dryer. Everything is very spacious at this resort. It is not overcrowded as many regular 4-5 star hotels and you can always find the sun chairs at the pull. In the evenings it is very quite because most of the guests of Konea part of resort are families. I could not imagine any better place to stay for our family except stand alone villa.
The pool facility for kids could have been larger. Only one restaurant which is very good. But this are minor things to complain
All staff were very friendly and very helpful, the facilities were great and I loved that I had a separate bedroom. Beautiful resort and location - who could ask for more!
Only thing I would have liked would have been a small supermarket for emergencies onsite - because I don't drive was a long walk back to the local supermarket when I forgot something.
We ate at Dukes twice... it was excellent.
Great pool areas, location, clean and comfortable. Staff was great.
Duke's pool side service was poor. Waited over a 1/2 hour for someone to show up, placed an order, 20 mins later notified that they had run out of one of the items ordered and didn't fulfill the rest of the order...not great when you have kids.
Pool options! Great, clean, spacious rooms and common areas. Excellent staff all around! (housekeeping, bell staff, front desk, pool staff, etc). Definitely feels a lot nicer than the places our relatives stayed at just down the street.
We were next to a "trash room"... people from all the rooms would dump excess trash here in this room, as a result, it was DIRTY. Food all over floor, etc. NOT staff's fault, but people not taking care of facilities. Result was cockroach on floor. Thankfully, this room's door is solid, so unless door was open, it was hidden from view. There's construction on the South side of building, so if you have that side (like we did), the view was detracted due to the ugly sight. But you still had ocean views. (but it was quiet).
Location of Resort was excellent.
It is not for persons who have have difficulty walking, Poor kitchen layout-dishes in hall closet.
The Resort was breathtakingly beautiful! The view of the mountains were spectacular. Sunrise and Sunset both amazing! Easy access to beach and pools. Easy access to the highway for local travel. Really good concierge for booking excursions!
We were in the north tower. There isn't a market in the south tower. We didn't utilize the kitchen. it would have been nice to have a coffee barista in the north tower for mornings and afternoon refreshments.
We had a so called trainee at the pool but she really didn't need any training at all. Her name is Kelly Bowden who was our server for almost all the days at the pool. She was the best. Roland and Anthony who worked pool cabanas were the best also. They all made our stay a joy and we will be going again.
We didn't like that the male trainer for Kelly got to keep the tips she deserved because she did all the work and we never saw him at all
Loved the kitchens and in room washer and dryer!
Spacious room and nice size kitchen and living area. Also liked the wrap around balcony.
Noisy. Construction view not great. Lack of restaurant, no one was ever at the bar.
Pool area not clean enough. Decks had sand and gravel on them pool and spa had leaves in them
Beach was great, new hotel and my wife liked the kitchen
The pools were not so clean, nobody helped us to carry out our luggage when we arraived the hotel
It was a great experience and I would highly recommend it as a destination if one is planing a trip to Maui. Dukes was a pleasant surprise as well. Friendly staff from the parking attendants to the cleaning staff. Also very helpful and right on the money consierge group. An extremely enjoyable stay. Thanks for the upgrade as well.
