Unfortunately there is nothing that I did like.
It was not very clean. There were crumbs and strains of hair discovered in the bed.
The place was gross! Dirt and grime on the door, the bathroom smelled like urine, the tub was disgusting. Other peoples hair on the bed sheets and the whole place smelled like mold. We got in at midnight and were up and packing with the sunrise.
Staff was friendly and helped cancel a second booking we had since we really didn't want comeback there at the end of our maui trip
Shower was disgusting and small. No main light in room. Room's ceiling full of stain we don't even know from what. Minimum cleanliness elsewhere. Noisy after 10 while it shouldn't.
this is really horrible compare with my past stay in any of inns or guest house, the shared restroom is quite small and seems no one clean it, full of squalid things...the bed sheet is made of polyester and couldn't stay under your body and frowziness, I would never ever stay there again.
Location is good , close to harbor and shops
Very sparse accommodation, ants in doorways.
We stayed one night but it was really bad - dirty, old and not safe - so we left it next day. Even staff was very rude.
Darla and Elijah and the rest of the family very friendly and always checking to make sure everything is ok.
Dirty dingy place
The cost is the only selling point.
When the issue of the ants was brought up to the manager, the manager plainly said, "so....what do you want me to do about it?" I was told I could move to the room we were suppose to be in, but it has ants, too.
Staff was friendly I met 5 great people there got to hang out stores really close by and the price for a clean bed shower and friendship can't be beat. I've stayed at places for 400 a night and it felt cold lonely and depressing I'd rather stay here again.
Whole experience was great can't really say I didn't like anything. They are located in a good location with lots to do around and the best part I think is they have parking and you know what i mean if you have ever stayed in hawaii.
Internet connection was good
We suppose to stay 2 nights, stayed only 1, it was 10pm so we didn't have a choice. When i saw room, I couldn't believe....room wasn't clean at all, sheets were dirty, walls had mold on it and floors were dirty. If it wasn't worst i saw bed bugs and dead flies on bed.....told stuff about it, they moved us to different room. Room conditions were the same, but at least sheets were clean. We stayed one night, but couldn't stay another night. Booked different hotel.
It was an unanticipated stop out of necessity. But I couldn't spend more than one night there.
really Bad smell everywhere. my dorm mates were old and looked (and smelled) like homeless guys. unfriendly stuff.
I enjoyed the company of the other traveller's who were also frantically trying to book anywhere else after staying for one night at this place.
I did not enjoy the fact that the female dorm was flooded with water, turning the carpet into marsh land. I also did not enjoy the smell of urine and gerbil around every corner. The front desk staff were intoxicated when I arrived on Christmas Eve and were unable to provide a key or any sort of coherent information about Maui. All in all, this hostel is unsafe, unclean and not with the lower rate. The area is great for food and I do suggest exploring the restaurants. If you have made the mistake of staying here, don't beat yourself up about it. Instead, call Marisa at the Banana Bungalow. If she can't set you up with a room, she is always willing to give great alternative suggestions. My experience at Maui Hostel 2 taught me to be more diligent when reading reviews. My experience at Banana Bungalow changed my life forever.
there are ants and cockroachs anywhere. WiFi only works at midnight. nobody clean the room. one can not sleep before 11:00 pm because of noisy and must wake up before 6:00 Am because of noisy again.
No tour airport shuttle or breakfast offered.
I like how the staff tried to help me feel more comfortable
I dislike how dirty was the kitchen and the bathroom. There were ants everywhere. The rules of good living you sign when you arrive are not applied by the customers.
Cheap, very helpful staff
Some strange other guests which basically seem to live there all the time
It was cheap.
The room was Dirty, everything!! The sheets were used, the Floor was all over with dust, ants dirt and hairs. Its was late in the Night and we had to stay. I would Never recommend this Place!!!
dirty loud bad
The lady operating the place was very helpful.
This is more a boarding dorm instead of a hostel. People live here. It's in a sketchy neighborhood. The place could use a complete overhaul and cleaning. The bathroom situation is horrendous. I am a male. After taking a shower, one of the female children (who lives there) came in to use the bathroom. VERY uncomfortable situation.
The staff was friendly
Everything! I rented for 6 days, but left after two... Terrible location and ugly area Cockroaches and there were tiny biting bugs in the mattress all the mattresses were foam and had huge sunk-in centers all the pillows were completely flat from being used for so long No one came to clean and supplies were not available for tenants to clean No buses come anywhere near there, so have to rent a vehicle or take a cab
The lady at the reception was nice. Free DVD rental.
This place was so dirty! There were bugs and ants in the bathroom and the bedroom had a very dirty smell. It was so hot in the bedroom, there was no airconditioning or fan. The bed was very uncomfortable. You could see through the curtains of the bedroom window so people walking in the hallway could see in our bedroom. I would not recommend staying at this place, even if it's fairly cheap, it's not worth it!
