It was cheap.
The room was Dirty, everything!! The sheets were used, the Floor was all over with dust, ants dirt and hairs. Its was late in the Night and we had to stay. I would Never recommend this Place!!!
dirty loud bad
The lady operating the place was very helpful.
This is more a boarding dorm instead of a hostel. People live here. It's in a sketchy neighborhood. The place could use a complete overhaul and cleaning. The bathroom situation is horrendous. I am a male. After taking a shower, one of the female children (who lives there) came in to use the bathroom. VERY uncomfortable situation.
The staff was friendly
Everything! I rented for 6 days, but left after two... Terrible location and ugly area Cockroaches and there were tiny biting bugs in the mattress all the mattresses were foam and had huge sunk-in centers all the pillows were completely flat from being used for so long No one came to clean and supplies were not available for tenants to clean No buses come anywhere near there, so have to rent a vehicle or take a cab
The lady at the reception was nice. Free DVD rental.
This place was so dirty! There were bugs and ants in the bathroom and the bedroom had a very dirty smell. It was so hot in the bedroom, there was no airconditioning or fan. The bed was very uncomfortable. You could see through the curtains of the bedroom window so people walking in the hallway could see in our bedroom. I would not recommend staying at this place, even if it's fairly cheap, it's not worth it!
Very very dirty. Bugs everywhere, even in the rooms. Sharing dirty bathroom with 6-7 other men and women. No privacy. For $10 a night more I could have been in a 3 star hotel.
The location was good for me....
the owers were "nice"
Roaches & alot of other bugs. I had to throw away my entire luggage because they were buy infested
The diversity of people/cultures that come through are amazing.
The location is in a bad part of Maui, the bed feel like what I imagine prison bed would feel like. Insect-ridden, lack of effort by the owner.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Good price for Maui, and no bed bugs.
Bugs, cockroaches, hair all over, sunken bed, and very unclean. Pretty gross, but the cheapest thing on the island.
Everyday was an adventure in Maui, coming back to Maui City Hostel felt like coming home to a fresh apartment with friendly neighbors. I loved it!
Friendly and fun place
The bed's needed better mattress for sleeping
Friendly staff. Quick to respond to requests
Location away from shopping and other amenities. No windows in room. Rooms way too small for comfort.
The Staff were very helpful & concerned about us having a great vacation & enjoyable stay @ the hostel. We enjoyed the hostel environment, meeting international travellers as well as Maui residents.
Friendly staff and met our needs and expectations.
Bath, shower facilities could have been more convenient. No separation of male/female facilities.
I had an excellent experience in my days in Hostel City Maui. The owners of the hostel were exceptionally kind and help me to solve problems I had with other company in Maui. I just say thank you and recommend the hostel for everyone. Cheers
Set up for double rooms - sharing with 2 other rooms - lots of room lounge kitchen Staff very helpful and friendly
Bit hot would have liked a fan at night
- very friendly and supportive team - just opposite is a shop (Rosies) where you can proper breakfast and a warm meal nearly throught the whole day
Everything could be renovated from the rooms to common areas and bathrooms. They should also have separate restrooms for males and females. The rooms could defenitly use an up grate specially the mattresses and bedding. The staff was very nice and help full but the office or checking area didn't have a professional aperiance
Nothing, it was a complete rip off for $80 per night...not to mention disgusting.
Everything, it took way too long for the front desk to check us in. The room had roaches, and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The bathroom and showers were dirty, smelly, and horrendous. Did I mention unisex showers? Don't stay here, spend the extra money and go somewhere else, it'll ruin your vacation!

Just too noisy at night if your room is street front. Like REALLY noisy
I didn't like any thing about it
Do not stay here if you have other choice. Horrible place, dirty , sands on bed.
Very nice staff with family atmosphere. Waited up late for us to arrive.
It would have been helpful to have the correct address at the top of our receipt for the hostel. The taxi from the airport took us to "Beds and Wheels" and then to the correct hostel. Our taxi fare from the airport ended up being $30!
The owners are friendly and helpful. The location is well situated for public transportation and central to Wailuku downtown.
