It was extremely clean. I loved the staff. Wonderful people. I also recommend King's Chinese restaurant that occupies the front of the building.
We arrived on a kona day, and room could have used a little fan. Bring one. First time we ever stayed at a hostel, so we did not know to *ask* for water glass, washcloth, soap. Most hostel guests carry their own.
We liked the staff, the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Also, wifi was working both in the rooms and on the yard.
We have difficulties with finding the hostel as it is hidden in a yard and there were no directions on the street (or we did not see them). The bed was really uncomfortable, it was sooo soft that you were sleeping in a hole!!! Also, you hear everything from the street - we could not sleep because we heard dustmen, roosters... The room was quite expensive so we expected more than unclean shower, room without windows and very uncomfy bed. Try camping in Hawaii - you get more comfort for better price!
Me and my boyfriend were there for three days, the couple who's in charge of the place if very friendly they showed us everything very warm welcome and good people, we felt safe and in good hands! They were very accommodate when we asked questions they were there to help us to know more about Maui and the highlights. Also there's a washing machine and a dryer we can use, room with TV and DVD and wifi works very good! We really loved our nights there. I recommend it for sure.
The hostel is in the middle of the island, in a central location. The manager was nice instead of everything.
We asked to change the room because it was awful and we had to add more money. The queen room was better than the other one but anyway really dirty, unconfortable, small and full of bugs and mosquitos. The common area (kitchen) was horrible and bugs everywhere.. We staied for 4 nights (just because the reservation was not refundable) and we refused to use it bacause of the dirt. Fortunately we decided to stay out from 6 in the morning till 10 pm. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
Convenient location, free parking
Poor service, the room was barely clean, no soap nor even toilet paper (!), very noisy (could hear the neighbor snoring)... okay(ish) if you need a place to sleep and nothing more.
I went to Maui for a volleyball touney and was traveling on a budget. This place was affordable to me. All i needed was a bed and bathroom which this place had what i needed.
The no cable at this hoyel is a huge minus. But there is a tv and dvd player. And it would be nice if I could invite friends over to chill and relax too. But you cNt even do that. Other then those too it was okay to me.
Friendly staff, easy to park, good restaurant attached
small room (although reasonable for the price) No TV although DVDs available.
Central location, good to use as base to explore other cities.
No fan in room, area is not a good part of town, many 'long term' tenants. I was not comfortable staying at this place.
Location. Downtown Maui.
Small room, no air cond or fan, rough area of town with what look like transients. Did not feel save!
host is very warm. The guy tried to help me with my credit card issue. His boy is cute. There is a Chinese restraunt next to the hostel. The owner couples coming from Fujian. They are nice peoples.
The room is too small to be comfortable. No towel, room not ventilated well.
Everything, the worst hostel I have ever been. The hostel was overbooked, and they wanted to give me a room without private bathroom. After two hours, and several calls to booking.com, they offered me the type of room I booked, but they tried to make me feel guilty by telling me that somebody else wouldn't have the room. The knob of my room (number 9) couldn't be locked, so my stuff was accessible to everybody. After staying for 4 nights, the staff didn't solve my problem! The room was extremely small, dirty and noisy, and the neighborhood very decadent. Don't go to this hostel, pay more for something better.
It was quaint and just a good deal.
The sounds of garbage trucks??
Location was good. Funky vibe in beautiful downtown Wailuku. Free off street parking.
Old, dirty, dingy, poor conditions more suitable for condemnation rather than guests. I'm about as far as one can get from high maintenance and this place was way below my minimal requirements ie. TV looks good for a photo op, but not hooked up to cable service. No air conditioning, understandable, but room was hot, poorly ventilated with no ceiling fan. I was provided with a box fan after asking to move to room with ceiling fan as some rooms did have a ceiling fan.
The room was functionable, bed was good and the in room bath was okay.
There was no ice machine or ice trays. With no A.C. the days got stuffy. I may not have noticed but if the kitchen didn't have one it could use a microwave.
Good home base for your time on Maui, close to airport shopping centres for everything you need. As a female travelling on my own I felt safe and will return!
Traffic noise in the complex, but that can't be helped with a Chinese takeaway in the front of the complex.
No sense of safety in regards to the presence. Slept in clothes and shoes in fear of touching anything. Showered with my socks on. No ac so windows have to stay open. So I barely slept with people in and out up and down the stairs all night. Worst stay Ive ever had. Maybe good for a broke transient traveler but not my recommendation.
stuff very friendly, there is a restaurant nearby very convinient
some noise from the window of bathroom all night. Bed sheet is in black, so weird.
I liked that the staff helped me with places to visit and tour around to. They gave me the "locals" view of the island. Own room was nice and bed was very comfy. Perfect for 1-2 night stay/stop over. Very Friendly!!!
Could not log into the WiFi but that was not that bad. A/C unit was just outside window and loud.
difficult to find ( no proper signage) but good location for trips all over the island! from day 3 onwards they suddenly offered a little continental breakfast.
worst place I stayed at in hawaii!!! filthy, dirty, unorganized: though I booked 6 nights they did not know that I will come! though there was no smoking policy my room was smelly like an ashyray, bed was with linnen from previous guest, toilet ( in room) dirty, trash bin was full, room not cleaned, fridge full of mould, crappy furnitures, cockroaches all over( killed at least every day 2!). lots of mini-ants in bed, window- mechanism to open it was broken, room (#15) was in the last corner and there was no ventilation at all ( had to keep door open for a bit fresh air), had 3 caretakers within my 6 days (not sure what was going on there). chinese restaurant ahead of building, if wind comes from the wrong direction you feel like sleeping in french fries! as run down as that place is it should not be advertised at all, 15$ per night would have been adequate for this rat hole!!! unfortunately did not want to loose time to search something else. left early every morning and came back late to spend as minimal time as possible in that place! only recommended for real budget travellers who don't expect anything than a roof and a dry place!
