The location is great and also the place, staff. Everything was awesome!
nice place to stay, great location
Good value for money and wonderful location. Staff were very helpful. Enjoyed our time here.
Beds were squeaky.
Common living area. Tours organized by the Hostel.
Small room and the breakfast is not so good.
Very comfortable, all amendities, basic but ok breakfast, nice location, clean, private lights and plugs, enough bathrooms.
It's a tourist factory, a lean mean and expensive (with tax 50 a night!) money machine! And no smoking is fine (although 30ft from the door is a bit much..), but no alcohol allowed inside gives me the idea of a middle school camp. Ok, not everyone is 21+ but this was just strange and annoying, I like drinking 1 or 2 beer at night and not having to go to a bar (especially when there's a snow storm going on)... And I think 50 usd a night and then still have to pay 3 usd to leave your luggage some extra hours is ridiculous too..
It's a huge hostel with all the needed amenities. Breakfast is very basic but included.
As the hostel is really huge it is more an anonymous place to stay. Not really a cosy lovely atmosphere. Pretty expensive for a hostel (paid 55 USD per night for a 6-bed dorm).
Most of the staff were helpful and attentivie
One particular member of the staff gave me a racist vibe. She was very curt and dismissive of me.
The beds were good. Service was good. The Thanksgiving dinner was superb. It was nice from them to do some thing with the holidays. The wifi works fine (although you don't have coverage in every single corner of the building; room and common rooms are okay!). Clean (rest)rooms. The trips are well organised!
Cleanness, bathrooms everywhere, Wi-Fi
The staff, especially the one in the second floor, where the kitchen and cafeteria is located it is a truly misnomer. A person feels that these people where outside in the street previous night, begging for money or so and the manger decided to hire them because they said we are striving for food. Moreover, the hostel even doesn't has a dishwasher because of this cheap labor, which is really strange - its Boston after all.
Rooms are big and clean, staff is very helpful.
The facility was brand new (probably renovated) and clean.
Everything is very efficient, clean and super secure. I specially liked the little alcove with the light for each individual bed in the dormitory, so one can have the light on and even read without disturbing others who are wanting to sleep.
The price of staying at the hostel has at least doubled since the move from the old hostel on Hemenway Street. I suppose this is to pay for the new state of the art facilities.
location is great; bathrooms are good
the room is way too warm at night; one of the young female house keeper was kind of rude
Centrally located, friendly staff and free breakfast.
The room was very narrow and there was an unfriendly guest in the room. Kicking the bed during my sleep, hanging the socks on the coat hook.
I am pushing 40, and I had a great stay here. Helpful staff, friendly fellow travelers, clean facilities, convenient location, and can't beat the price!
Beautiful hostel. Very clean and tidy. Great events offered each day. Good vibe. Volunteers on the walking tours were excellent. Free breakfast each day was fantastic.
Staff were not helpful at the front desk and couldn't be bothered with what you had to say. Locker system for luggage storage was painful as it kept breaking down. Took over 30 min to store a bag.
HI Boston is generally very clean in most part of the buildings. Breakfast will be provided everyday on the 2/F. Did not check out the activities listed on the blackboard at the lobby in this visit but should be fun. The best part is the location, which is a few minute walk from Chinatown station (Orange line). South Station is also close to HI Boston (a few stops in T) if you are taking a train to Boston.
No particular things that I did not like.
Great staff and very helpful.
Not so good beds
Everything!! I really enjoyed this experience
- Friendly & involving staff - Excellent facilities - Cleaniness - Comfort - Wireless everywhere - Lots of restrooms - Central location - Good kitchen facilities
- Breakfast could be improved, but it´s anyway fine
Completely new, perfect location, individual bath
Centrally located, neat and clean, good wifi, nice and friendly staff
a bit on the expensive side for sharing my room with 5 other people
large beds, breakfast, kind staff, very comfortable
it is expensive in comparison with similar European hostels, they have computers but charge using of them 0,1$ per minute
