Love the location, practically in the centre of town, so easy to walk everywhere and/or catch the train at Union station. Breakfasts are good in a very large, airy breakfast room with a view of the monorail whizzing around the buildings.Everyone is friendly and the list of activities is very good to experience.
Sorry I can't think of anything I don't like about the hostel.
Great staff, close to Union Station, nice building and area. I always stay there on my way to and from Europe.
This time around I had a low sagging noisy bed (Room 310, bed F - should be looked into) but otherwise great as usual.
safe place great location
Not recommended 8 Bed rooms. Little space to put baggage, clothes Disordered No place to hang things Not enough AC supply to connect devices
The manager provided a full refund for an online booking (for the wrong night) that I had been unable to cancel online. Employees in general were cheerful and hospitable in providing customer service. Linens and facilities were neat, clean, quiet and sanitary.
Four roommates all had trouble with their door cards, and needed special attention in having their problem(s) addressed, one by one. When booking online, I was promised a reservation for 'the last one' remaining private room for the price of $32.00... but when the time came to register, I was assigned a group room at a slightly higher price.
poor wifi inside the room
the best hostel stayed in the states with good location, helpful staff rooms are clean and spacious, unks are comfortable breakfast is the best among all ys hostels with multi choices
Fantastic location Great staff and atmosphere! Will definitely stay here again
Location was gr8.. I love walking and found everything within walking distance. Hi has an info desk and daily activities to get you going on your Chicago Experience (free) Breakfast was substantial, refurbishing at the moment but it did not effect the stay and I would love to see it when they have finished as it is pretty cool now !!! All round a gr8 place to stay..
Nothing re the hostel but it is apparent that there are some people put there that have forgotten their shared room etiquette.. Maybe a welcome note from the Hostel and a gentle reminder of the respect of others they are sharing their room with.
Location is the biggest appeal here. They wer undergoing some major remodelations but everything was fine.
They claim to have a great free breakfast, but it's quite poor. Just bread and bagels.

I bunked in a ten person room and it was full and everyone was very respectful of the other space and I slept like a baby. The view from my room was amazing. The location is stellar. Definitely stay there again.
Cleaning lady following day was a bit moody. I asked for new blanket because mine had a makeup stain on it. I showed it to her. She said I had to wait for her to finish with the other beds before she could go get another one. She never came back with another one.
Close to Marathon start, Free Pasta dinner, Offered automatic late checkout, Complimentary breakfast
Little bit noisy at night as it is right beside the Loop train tracks, so you can hear trains throughout the night.
Clean linens in my private room.
The dirty towels on the floor in front of the only men's shower.
The location - right in the centre of town, 10 minute walk from the lake (probably 3 minutes without cars holding you up) Value for money - I had a private room, it was still very cheap and comfortable Breakfast - keep in mind it's continental but the bagels were fantastic Things to do - I only made use of the free tour but it was incredibly interesting. I've been on paid city tours that didn't match this. Decent shared facilities - The shower/toilet wasn't occupied once when I tried to use it during my 3 night stay. I think the people:facility ratio is good.
Rooms were pretty small but then they also cost very little Wi-fi was practically unusable (tip: the library next door has free, fast, wifi if you need to transfer large files)
The value for money is excellent. Location is perfect. Comfort is way much better than other hostels in Chicago.
Great location Very cool spot Confortable Common areas Wifi that actually works ok
There were problems with the hot water supply so had to start 2 days with a cool shower, otherwise absolutely fine
Staff was very friendly, location is great
Wi-Fi was terrible, couldn't find clean towels
Location was perfect and the facilities just right for the price you pay. I loved the kitchens in every floor and the common one with the dinning room. They invited me to meet other people.
I hated the mattress I had in my 8-male-shared room. I couldn't stand it because my back hurt every morning. I would point out you should bring a pair or earbuds so you can rest well. The "L" trains pass just some meters from the hostel and the emergency sirens sound like by your side.
comfortable, clean and new.
The location has just been awesome, every (six) bed room has its own toilet and shower, lockers and wifi everywhere.
Comfortable and clean!
Comfy rooms, clean, awesome breakfast, good place to meet new people with its size and events. Def coming back
I missed an outlet beside my bed even though there was an individual light
location is good and near almost very place you may interest in Chicago.
