The location is EXCELLENT, right smack in the centre of the bustling Gaslamp Quarter. Great value for money, there are also great activities for visitors to help them meet people and experience the city. There are no twin rooms.

Ideal location. My experience made me want to move to san diego. Staff had great recommendations, from cheap parking to good seafood. Great, clean rooms..the bed was more comfortable than my own bed at home. My wife, having never stayed in a hostel, was hesitant about this before we arrived, but ultimately she loved it and we'll be staying here again on another long wkend from la N/a - seriously an all-around fantastic experience.

Excellent position in the middle of nightlife (by the way we had a room looking in the inner patio and we didn't hear a voice from outside). Nice habit of the hostel is preparing one's own breakfast in the kitchen!

Meeting other travelers over breakfast, the free breakfast was great, staff were very friendly and had excellent recommendations for things to do, places to go, and excellent and cheap restaurants. The neighborhood outside the Hostel was noisy at night and the windows were thin, but the hostel offered free earplugs which helped. Breakfast didn't start until 8 am, I wish it was started at 7:30 for days when I had an 8am meeting.

Located in the busy Gaslamp Quarter District, easy to reach from the Airport. Nice Place to stay, can really recommend it. It's a classical Youth Hostel (Non Youth-Hostel-Members pay additional 3,00$/Stay), with all typical Youth Hostel Facilities like shared Bathroom, TV-Room, shared Kitchen, Reading Room, Laundromat. If you want an easy stay and you don't hesitate the international flair and young travellers, I can really recommend it to you.

As a solo female traveler, the price of double room with private bathroom was affordable. For safety reason, I did not suggest going outside alone at night. For limited budget on eat, there was a supermaket nearby. You could cook your favorite home food with fresh materials or store on-sale ready-to-eat food in public refregirator. There was also microwave in the kitchen. Besides, the room space (single room with private bathroom) was enough and the bathroom was clean. It was very noisy outside the hostel, from mid-night to very early monrning, when your room faced the street. It became quiet almost after 3am and then I could fall asleep. No exceptions! I stayed for 3 consecutive days. In addition, the stability of wireless internet in the room was poor. It was often interrupted at night but the connection was better in the morning.

Great place, loved it. I had to rate comfort 'fair'. This was due to one period of time on Monday morning for about 2 hours. I was staying in rooom 218 by the alley and there was some sort of sewage or garbage being removed/pumped by a truck. It filled my room with the WORST smell I've ever smelled. It was so strong I was nauseated and threw up. Besides this I was very comfortable the entire time although feel some type of disclaimer for this room is needed if this happens on a regular basis (I would not have chose that room instead of another option that was open facing Market st. if I was given this information).

Good location right on the Gaslamp Quarter so plenty of bars and restaurants in the surrounding blocks. Wifi signal could be a bit weak unless you were in the public areas such as the common room or the kitchen.

the staff is super nice, their service, attention and commitment can compete with a five star hotel - seriously! while we there and trying to book a night at an other hihostel in san francisco, it didn't work online and we didn't reach anyone on the phone. so we left for the day and the girl at the desk tried to reach them for us. when we came back from our day tour of the city, she had booked a nice room for us and had printed reservation confirmation ready for us!!! since the hostel is in the middle of the most vibrant and interesting neighborhood of san diego, the nights don't get quiet before 2 am. but it didn't bother us, that comes with a perfect location in the middle of where you wanna be at night.

The hotel is in a great location for the gaslamp area and the bars etc in the town centre. It is easily reachable from the aiport (under $10 in a cab) and it very convenient for the convention centre (15 mins wal maximum). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There was an isseu with my room on arrival and they found me a replacement. There are cooking and kitchen facilities, computers to use and lounge areas to chill out it in and socialise. Ideal for backpackers and people going to party but if i went for a convention again I may push the boat oput for a hotel. The hotel is basic and a bit run down, but v clean and the beds are comfy. Rooms do not have a/c and can be a bit nosy eith the windows open. It struck me as on the expensive side for a hostel (esp. compared to those I've stayed in in Europe). However, it is several times cheaper than any hotels in the area and so this must be the goiugn rate for downtown San Diego! It also includes a very nice continental breakfast (and I'm hard to please on thje breakfast front).
