Score from 157 reviews Very good
we had a single room. it was nice. the streets are incredible loud but if you want to party that is the perfect location!!! great staff
attention to art and all accessories the hotel has. Common kitchen for everyone in the 3rd floor. Breakfast is available there. Seams very hip
Wash your own dishes :( The actual state of the building, paint and windows. It looks like it has not been modernized for 30-40 years. However the accessories on top and the nice IKEA furniture make it feel modern. Bugs in the bathroom.
The staff is friendly, specially the cleaning people.
No friendly athmosphere (interactive), not good activities/parties (no one was in the manage pool/game night), the mattress was terrible and the dorm hot and sunny at the morning. The breakfast is poor. I love Hi Hostels but this one i want to forget. Maybe you can go to Santa Monica and learn something with your partners.
The location is great, right on the middle of the gaslamp district
The noise! Room was facing the street and with no double glazing you heard everything! Including people leaving bars at night and early morning deliveries
Location Amability of the staff
I needed to iron my vest by 6,30 am but the iron room was closed
Nice hostel witha greta design of the common areas, clean bathrooms, very helpful staff and a nice breakfast included, you cannot ask more for that price!
(forgot my earplugs, normally I always bring them when staying in dorms, one never knows! but it is nto the hostel's fault, just mine)
The staff was very friendly, facilities were clean and welcoming. I had a good time, the location was surrounded by places of entertainment and food.
Staff is terrible
bathroom attached to the room was still accessible to everyone else
I loved the location, the room was quiet, which I wanted. The whole building was very clean. It is 100 years old so it is not fancy but it suited me fine. The staff was great & helpful and I enjoyed the evening meals.
While I was there it was very humid and I like a very cool room so I bought a fan to make my room cooler. It did have a celing fan & a window fan but for me that was not enough. I needed a new fan so it worked out.
I didn't get in till about 10pm, but the staff was still eager to welcome me and get me situated. Even when I felt I was bugging them by asking too many questions they were still extremely friendly and helped out a ton. I honestly don't see myself ever wanting to stay at a conventional hotel again.
There wasn't anything I didn't like. It was my first Hostel experience and it was better than I expected. Nothing like the movie haha
cannot use wifi in my room(305)
Great central location, lovely rooms. Would definitely stay again.
Location, private room with private bath
sheets were very thin, worn. Noisy air conditioner.
I loved everything from the people to location and environment of hotel
Some nights downtown was really loud but overall it was great
In the middle of downtown, close to bars, restaurants, movie theatre etc.
Breakfast was alright...
That staff was overwhelming helpful. Even when I kept coming to ask more questions and felt like I was annoying them, they were more than happy to answer any questions I had. They made my first stay in a hostel and in San Diego fantastic!
Excellent location on Market & 5th in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter, 10 mins' walk from the Convention Center. I asked for a quiet room and got one facing the "courtyard," where there was no street noise at all (though the view outside the window wasn't great), which was great.
The building is a bit dated, which I don't mind, but the sheets were a bit dodgy - there was a questionable hair on a pillow and some stains on the bedspread that I didn't want to think too much about. For the price, though, this hostel is a great value.
Everything. Congratulations to all the staff for being so kind. Great value for price.
exceptional hostel, great location. Great value for money.
Great location, we didn't find it too noisy. Renovated bathrooms are great, older ones ok, and clean.
Old building, showing its age - not hotel quality clean, but ok.
The best location to stay in San Diego. Staff very friendly. They have a a communal kitchen, if you're with children it helps a lot. The room could be better cleaned during our stay but nothing to discrediting. Maybe the best cost-benefit of the region.
The location was perfect. Plenty to see and do all within walking distance. Gas Lamp District has a ton of great bars too.
