I was in San Diego for a congress. This Hostel was perfect for my needs.
First night with a stink man in the room.
- friendly staff - clean - good beds ( for a hostel of course) - a good and big kitchen - ATM in the lobby
- it's in the middle of downtown, so with the windows facing the street, of course it's really loud the whole night.
Location Staff Safety
It is in the heart of the downtown. Helpful staff.
A bit expensive for a youth hostel. Breakfast could be better.
we had a single room. it was nice. the streets are incredible loud but if you want to party that is the perfect location!!! great staff
attention to art and all accessories the hotel has. Common kitchen for everyone in the 3rd floor. Breakfast is available there. Seams very hip
Wash your own dishes :( The actual state of the building, paint and windows. It looks like it has not been modernized for 30-40 years. However the accessories on top and the nice IKEA furniture make it feel modern. Bugs in the bathroom.
Excellent location for walking to any kind of restaurant or bar, literally dozens within 3 to 4 blocks. Only a few blocks to Petco Stadium. At the dead center of Gaslamp District. Our double bunk room was small, but clean and had a sink and 3 fans (in window, ceiling, and boIx). We slept under the sheets, it was fine. We were able to keep our bicycles in our room, really appreciated that. Front desk folks were always cheery and helpful.
More bathrooms would be nice on 2nd floor, and stairs up would be quicker many times, rather than waiting for the slow elevator.
The staff is friendly, specially the cleaning people.
No friendly athmosphere (interactive), not good activities/parties (no one was in the manage pool/game night), the mattress was terrible and the dorm hot and sunny at the morning. The breakfast is poor. I love Hi Hostels but this one i want to forget. Maybe you can go to Santa Monica and learn something with your partners.
The location is great, right on the middle of the gaslamp district
The noise! Room was facing the street and with no double glazing you heard everything! Including people leaving bars at night and early morning deliveries
Location Amability of the staff
I needed to iron my vest by 6,30 am but the iron room was closed
Nice hostel witha greta design of the common areas, clean bathrooms, very helpful staff and a nice breakfast included, you cannot ask more for that price!
(forgot my earplugs, normally I always bring them when staying in dorms, one never knows! but it is nto the hostel's fault, just mine)
The staff was very friendly, facilities were clean and welcoming. I had a good time, the location was surrounded by places of entertainment and food.
Staff is terrible
bathroom attached to the room was still accessible to everyone else
I loved the location, the room was quiet, which I wanted. The whole building was very clean. It is 100 years old so it is not fancy but it suited me fine. The staff was great & helpful and I enjoyed the evening meals.
While I was there it was very humid and I like a very cool room so I bought a fan to make my room cooler. It did have a celing fan & a window fan but for me that was not enough. I needed a new fan so it worked out.
I didn't get in till about 10pm, but the staff was still eager to welcome me and get me situated. Even when I felt I was bugging them by asking too many questions they were still extremely friendly and helped out a ton. I honestly don't see myself ever wanting to stay at a conventional hotel again.
There wasn't anything I didn't like. It was my first Hostel experience and it was better than I expected. Nothing like the movie haha
cannot use wifi in my room(305)
Great central location, lovely rooms. Would definitely stay again.
Location, private room with private bath
sheets were very thin, worn. Noisy air conditioner.
I loved everything from the people to location and environment of hotel
Some nights downtown was really loud but overall it was great
In the middle of downtown, close to bars, restaurants, movie theatre etc.
Breakfast was alright...
That staff was overwhelming helpful. Even when I kept coming to ask more questions and felt like I was annoying them, they were more than happy to answer any questions I had. They made my first stay in a hostel and in San Diego fantastic!
