Wifi was terrible. They didn't give us the room requested so my son had to sleep on a fold out bed. No amenities. Under construction which was a little creepy. Plaster dust everywhere.
Liked the room size, nice bed
WiFi didn't worked at all, we managed to get connection only at 3AM. Poor breakfast. Although in reservation we had Queen bed, the bed was really small. And there was no possibility to get tea/coffee
Great location, friendly stuff.
I was staying twice in the same room. And there were some problems with the furniture. First time, there was a table in the room, but there were no chair and no hot water in the bath. At the second time, there was a hot water, but there were no table and no chair :-) Except these, the room itself was very fine for single. And they charged my card a next days before, despite that it was noted as "No deposit. Pay as You stay" at booking.com.
First of all - greate location. Just in the midtown center, two blocks from Penn station, LIRR, NJ Transit, Empire state, MACY's etc. Subway is just at the corner of the street. Very decent Italian restaurant is adjacent to the hotel directly. There is a breakfest at hotel (In New York, it's called breakfast :-)). I had a room on the highest floor with fine view at the street and Empire state. Despite the fact that the hotel is being renovated, I did not notice the noise. The staff was quite friendly
This is moaning for moanings sake, the crockery and cutlery for breakfast was disposable and sub standard but just about did the job with some patience. Lift was mainly being used by workforce but as only 2nd floor stairs were no problem and we liked the quirky nature of them.
The proximity to the major attractions of which most come to NYC for is superb, literally round the corner to the Empire State and for the retail lovers, 5th is at the end of the block one way and Macy's the other. For us the room was very clean, comfortable with most of the amenities you need. We stayed on the 2nd floor which hadn't had its refurb done at that point but we were happy enough.
In the end all issues were fixed to my satisfaction. All good.
The staff were very helpful. Any problems we had they looked after. Great location.
They are renovating four floors and mor of the lobby so there was a lot of debris being hauled out hourly, but there was very little noise and they couldn't be heard from our room. The room had a couple small areas where the contractor didn't finish, tiny bits of missing drywall here and there and the window in the bathroom wasn't very clean. We had a lower floor room so our view was a brick building next to us, but that's okay because we were just there to sleep. If you stayed more than one night that might be an issue.
We only stayed for one night but we were contemplating another night because the rates were so reasonable and on Easter weekend at that! The concierge Matt was fantastic!! The continental breakfast was a mini buffet including eggs, fruit, muffins, cereals, breads, and juice, tea and coffe! And it was fresh and tasty. We checked out at 10:00 am and left out luggage in the lobby so we could sitesee the rest of the day and they watched it for us until we picked it up at 10:00 pm!!
The free breakfast was VERY UNSATISFACTORY as well as the construction that was taking place. Delayed hot water in the shower...front desk told us to let it run for a while. Will not book again.
The double bed was comfy although I booked/paid for a queen.
Rude staff, no water, no coffee, nothing
Only my room
Not much. They are renovating but this had little to no effect on us on the 4th Floor. Old buildings need overhauls to keep functional. Stay elsewhere & pay much more if this bothers you. Soon it will be very gorgeous when all the work is completed.
The gracious old style of the Hotel & Brendan's Bar next door. We felt very safe here. Staff are great & friendly
Love staying at this hotel, its my 6th time staying hear but I wasn't informed about the renovations going on and the disruption it caused and the breakfast has gone down hill.
Location, location, location.
No business center to speak of! Just an out of order computer in the lobby. Not possible to print a document out.
Breakfast wasn't worth getting up for Rooms a little outdated
Location Value for money Quiet Updated bathroom Comfy beds
The breakfast was not good
Large clean room
The heating was so noisy that it sounded as if we we're sleeping in an engine room. So because of this I would not stay there again. A little sad about this.
Central location great staff and comfortable hotel. Breakfast was a little below par but the surroundings were lovely
tv didnt work,construction,some noise
the actual hotel
The wasn't water for almost al the time we were there, we checked at 6:00 p.m. but the water didn't come til' midnight, taking a bath is pretty important, y'know?
The room is perfect
I was under the impression that the room had undergone renovation. The shower curtain was soured. The bath towels were old and dingy.
I liked the size of the room, bathroom, and comfort of the bed. It is a very quaint hotel. It had a boutique feel with budget furnishings.
Look at the picture. See the Hotel 35 sign? The small window by the sign is our bathroom window, and the window with the A/C beside it is our bedroom. 2nd floor, front of hotel. City that doesn't sleep! Too true! Garbage collection 11 PM, etc. We got to experience the true ambience of night-time in New York City! Nothing that earplugs couldn't fix. Also , had trouble regulating heat in the room - steam radiators either full-on or full-off. Wound up running the A/C with the radiator on to moderate the temp.
For the price we paid, this was a great location. Half a block to the subway which connected to everywhere we wanted to go. Half a block to 5th Avenue, Next street over to 34th, easy walk to Macy's, Penn Station. More challenging but do-able walk to Times Square (or 2 subway stops). Staff was friendly & helpful, responded to our requests promptly. All-in-all, a good experience
The receptionist who greeted us, a short hair ladie, was super rude! Every time I needed to talk to her, she was rude and impatient. But the rest of the staff was really great to me and my friends.
Very nice Hotel. Good location and facilities. Good price.
It is an old building, small space, inconvenient
room was a bit cold, but we are used to overheat our rooms back home, so I guess it's all right
Breakfast, free WiFi, location!, staff.. Amazing value for money. Couldn't believe we were able to find so cheap accommodation in the heart of NY. Was expecting much, much worse, but the hotel is in good condition (in general).
breakfast was basic
Location was good
Walls are thin, so hope for neigbours that are not loud.
A basic, clean room. Good value for a little over 100 euro per night. Hairdryer and safe in room.
