Clean, comfortable beds. Convenient to downtown, ocean, Essex. Nice indoor pool.
TV reception spotty. Very few channel selections. Everything else here was decent; do not understand why they cheap out on TV.
Friendly staff, although a couple of issues, such as not recognizing our arrival until she was off the phone (which was a ten+ minute booking.) Also she forgot to give us our keys so we had to drive back to the front desk i the freezing cold. But I grabbed a cup of coffee in the pretty foyer and the room was just like the photo - very large and well made up.
We thought we were closer to Mohegan. It was an issue because we were running late and thought we were only 10 minutes away, according to the website we used to book, and really it is 20 minutes away. Large stain on the comforter made it easy to choose which King bed to sleep in.
Loved the area, we are now sold on Connecticut, but it was not publicised in the UK or in on line publicity, only when we got there - why keep it secret! The hotel was great base to see the area from, The deal we got on line was very good. We liked the individual filter coffee machine in our room. The rooms are located to be away from the nearby Interstate, while reception is located to attract trade from it
We would have liked to swim before breakfast, but the pool opened at 9.00am. We could not understand the waste created by not using crockery and metal utensils, especially after a visit to Mystic aquarium where there was an exhibition made of waste collected on the beaches. We did not locate the local tourist office until we went to Mystic, using leaflets from reception, we would have appreciated an area map as opposed to individual towns. The sat nav was obsessed with getting us on to the interstate and the local maps did not show the joined up picture. The hotel layout kept us getting lost, but appreciated why. We would have prefered one larger bed as we only used one of the two doubles in our room, which made it a bit tight!
Good value, quiet and clean room. Comfortable beds.
Overall the room was clean, spacious, the staffs were nice and polite. Perfect location right off I95
The breakfast choices, the gym needed some dumbbells, the bed and pillows were too soft, and most of all the shampoo conditioner and soap were terrible. Please, with a little extra money you can improve the free soap etc with a better quality ones, where when guests check out they will remember them and pass the news along to friends and family. That means a free advertisement for the hotel :)
Facilities were clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. We, like other reviewers, found the woman in charge of the breakfast room especially cheerful. The make-your-own waffles were another breakfast plus.
Hallways and walkways were never clean. Breakfast bar was poorly stocked It felt like the management was looking for any way possible to cut corners and save money at our expense.
Adjoining rooms was very nice so the whole family could be together...
Could hear traffic,all the time.
I had a quiet room and it was comfortable. Normal hotel but fine if you just need a place to rest.
The facility is in good condition . The service was excellent. The woman who ran the breakfast buffet is top notch and deserves a raise. She took care of people like a top waitress, despite I suspect being paid to restock the food.
The good news and bad news is that it is close to Route 95. It is close enough that there is some road noise....not horrible...but you know the road is close. It is probably better to be on the back side.
Location. Good for access to the highway, but nowhere near any of the locations that brings travelers to the Old Saybrook area. Swap your real estate with Econo Lodge or Days Inn
The staff person in the breakfast area was especially friendly and helpful. She even "certified" me in making waffles.
The staff was very helpful, seemed to genuinely want to help, were good to deal with with all of the negative parts. The free breakfast was good.
It was dirty, the internet didn't work at all, the fridge didn't work properly, maintenance never showed up when called.
Great location, near Chamard Vineyards and the outlet stores. Staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was very clean and comfortable. Will be back again when in the area.
location , comfort and cleanliness
Larger signs directing one to the office reception area
Hotel staff were helpful and nice.
Avoid the third floor as air con units on roof are noisy. Food wasn't good for breakfast. Cutlery and plates were plastic which felt cheap.
Location was perfect, right off the highway but quiet location.
Mattresses could be updated - not as comfortable as they could be.
The kids loved the pool.
Our toilet clogged, after staff gave me a plunger so I could unclog my own toilet, he gave me his card so I could give him a good review so he could win $50. Food service closed early and we had to order elsewhere. Iron in room did not work.
Lovely pool, but very small area safe for little children. Breakfast was available.
Facility is very tired and needs updating. Dirty towel left in our room. Multiple stains and pits on counter top and bathroom vanity and floor made room feel dirty. Only two staff members on for fully booked hotel could not be responsive in timely way. No iron in room. Had to request lights be turned on in indoor pool and was told 30 min later when they showed up they had to make a lot of calls to find out how to do this! Put in smoking room when requested non-smoking. Yuk! Had to stay for family wedding. Will never return.
The beds were huge and comfortable
Very informed Staff, loved the swimming pool. Breakfast very good.
Cable needs to be a little better.
The lady who makes waffles is doing a wonderfull job. The front desk staff very helpful
One of the door exit was smelling urine really bad. It's the closest exit to room 240
The accommodations were great. We were there for a bachelorette party so really were just looking for a place to land after a fun night.
We found some old cookies in a bag under the bed so that was gross.
