The charm of the whole place. The restaurant is fabulous….a 5* in our opinion. We will go back!
The lay out and the restaurant
Nothing! It was all great
Jennifer at front desk is great!
Standard room a bit too small.
Stopped serving breakfast early. No longer have complimentary wine in lobby at end of day.
We liked the design & charm of the hotel & had long been interested in staying here. The grounds were beautiful & the staff was very nice.
The lack of insulation between floors & doors made for too much noise. It sounded like herd of buffalo running through the second floor - I'm guessing the couple had several small children (hotel not really designed for children, so that was unexpected). People chatting in the hallway echoed loudly into the room. Also, the complimentary cocktails at on-site high-end James at the Mill restaurant were terrible.
The staff at the front desk, wonderful lady. Room was more than I could have hoped for. Clean!
We were able to check in early and the check out being noon was nice too. Very clean, great staff. Breakfast was decent but actually ends at 9, not 10 like stated on the site. Great coffee. AC worked great. Area was quiet.
Did not enjoy the fact that our only window was a view of the rocks on the ground that was even with the bottom of the window. Arkansas is a beautiful sight, but not from our room. Restaurant on the property was not at all inviting! Made us seem that we were inconviniencing them.
Staff was very informative and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. Will return again for a relaxing stay.
Loved having breakfast out by the pond each morning. We also were very comfortable in our room and felt the service was excellent.
The Wi-Fi really needs to be upgraded. Often there were problems using our laptop and iPad. When the desk rebooted that helped but shouldn't have to do that.
Very comfortable, good furnishings.
Lack of pool. Musty smell. Baking soda tray under bureau?
The breakfast was really good and the room was spacious and comfortable.
I couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi.
Unique, interesting, and first-rate lodging
Beautiful old historic building restored, wonderful restaurant
The property and facilities were beautiful and quite comfortable. After a long day of driving we especially enjoyed the courtyard, complete with waterfalls and gardens. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable on the history of the hotel.
The hair dryer in our room looked very used and didn't work.
The man that greeted us was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The grounds were lovely with the creek running through the property and blooming spring flowers. The bed was ultra comfortable. The sheets were fabulous, and the pillows caressed our heads. The armoire was nice that housed the fridge, TV, safe, ice bucket, and drawers. I appreciated the wall-hung make-up mirror. When walking by a room that was getting cleaned, we noticed one housekeeper down on her knees scrubbing the baseboards. The rooms were very clean.
Steps were rock and didn't have an overhang on the treads so that you scraped the backs of your heels going down. And there were lots and lots of steps and was not handicap friendly. When we first entered the room, there was a smell like that of an aquarium. Perhaps the filter needed changed in the AC unit? We were surprised at the room, because it was nothing like the ones pictured on the website. It was more like a Hampton Inn. Since this was a "luxury" inn, we were expecting something more. The room was cramped - not much space to move around in. I kept stubbing my toe on the chest at the end of the bed. The toilet was at the end of a maze where you had to open and shut the door to get to it, (but it didn't have a door that separated it from the shower) and I don't believe there was more than 30" clearance from side to side. Very claustrophobic! The furniture was nice, but the chair for the desk did not have rollers so it was difficult to scoot in and out. If there was a microwave in the room, we never found it. The refrigerator froze everything we put in it. The ice bucket was hidden and the ice machine's location was hard to find. We were given vouchers for drinks at the James on the Mill restaurant. We were treated very shabbily, I guess, because didn't have reservations and came with our drink vouchers. (The man at the front desk at the Inn told us we didn't have to eat there and could even get our drinks to go.) We do not drink alcohol and were wanting something that was non-alcoholic. (The check-in clerk at the Inn told us that we could get a frappachino or flavored coffee.) The waitress said she would have to check. She came back and said we could get a mixed drink, beer or wine. She kept asking in an exasperated manner, "Well, what do you want?" My friend was going to try to get a flavored coffee. I asked for tea, and she said they didn't have tea. (Really?
The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was excellent. We really liked the decor and eating on real dishes. We had an excellent choice of foods. The complimentary drink was also very nice. Beautiful grounds.
The grounds. The nostalgia. The restaurant and staff were outstanding.
