Howard Johnson Express is located 5 minutes from the airport and easy access to the car rental return. Perfect for us since we had a 530am flight to catch. We wanted an inexpensive room since we would only be there for a few hours and just needed a place to catch a few hours of sleep. Our room was clean which is the first thing I look for.
Was not comfortable with their practice of making a photo copy of your ID and Credit Card when checking in which they kept on file until you check out. When checking out they do shred it or give it to you to shred. Just an odd practice that I had never run into before at a hotel or motel.
Shady people hanging out in rooms. Loud noises at night. Room run down. Breakfast area was tiny.
Our room was on the end of the building close to the 10 lane highway. Room wasn't very sound proofed
We checked in and upon entering our room; the light was on, bedspread and one pillow ruffled, and full ice bucket on the dresser. Someone was or had been in the room after it was cleaned. The young man on duty had no idea what could have happened. He quickly changed the sheets and was very helpful. His attitude and quick response "saved" our stay.
This hotel is perfect to stay if you want to be near the airport and also near the city.
The bathroom was a bit lugubre, and not really clean.
- price - clean and comfortable room - very nice and helpful boy in the reception - free parking
- Its not in centrum - cleaning personel was very noisy in the morning:(
The property looks run down. It would look much better with a new coat of paint. The staff were courteous and most importantly helpful. They helped make the difference and certainly my short stay conforyable
The looks of the property - dull.
The rooms were clean.
Localisation is for sure the weakest point of this motel. Sleeping in there is not so easy due to very noisy street outside.
Excellent shuttle service, clean, good wifi, ample rooms, nice and helpful staff.
Expensive like everything in San Francisco.
The staff was friendly. There was a fridge in the room.
The first room we were given smelled strongly of cigarettes' smoke. The carpet needed to be replaced as it was stained and smelled bad. Decor is outdated.
Close proximity and shuttle service to the airport.
Lots of traffic noise and there was a homeless person hanging out in the parking lot when we came back to the room at night. Kinda of scary
Reservations for two queen beds. Gotvthere was only one bed. Was told the other shift should have called me. We ended up with one queen bed and roll out bed. Very cramped abd uncomfortable.
The room has a good size and clean, good a/c and the staff are friendly.
Breakfast is ok, no laundry area
They accommodated my reasonable request for early check-in and change room to 2 double beds. I am very happy and pleased.
Way too noisy.
Nothing to underline
SF extremely expensive, over acceptable. This hotel was the cheapest and still too expensive compare to structure and service.
Quality of Wifi Proximity to the airport
Overall quality and hygiene of the hotel Excessive price for a motel you get everywhere in the US for 100 $ or less
Room was clean, bed was quite comfortable, location was convenient and the staff was friendly
The continental breakfast was pretty underwhelming
The staff was pleasant, the room was clean, comfortable bed with plenty of pillows.
I had reserved a wheelchair accessible room because I was traveling with my husband who is a bilateral amputee. While checking in, I asked if the room was wheelchair accessible and I didn't get a yes or no answer, but the young man at the desk said he would give us a room on the ground floor. Apparently, there is no elevator available at the facility. Once we got into the room there was enough room for my husband to get around in his wheelchair, but he could not get into the bathroom because the door was too narrow and the bathroom was very small. There were also no safety grab bars of any kind. We had brought a shower chair with us, so my husband was able to transfer from his wheelchair to the toilet, but taking a shower without safety grab bars would have been out of the question. We were exhausted and planned to stay only one night, so we did what everyone with a disabled traveler learns to do... we improvised. If we were planning to stay longer than one night there would be no way that I would have stayed in that room. When we checked out the next morning I asked the manager if they considered that room to be wheelchair accessible? She said it is not. I asked why we were given that room when I specifically stated that I needed a wheelchair accessible room, and she told me that they only have one "handicapped" room available and it is always full. She did state that if I called ahead and spoke to the manager that she would make 100% certain that we got the handicapped room. I'm not sure how she would do that if it is always full... would she throw someone out of it?? Bottom line: I reserved a wheelchair accessible room and they did not let me know in advance that there would not be one available for our stay. They didn't mention when we were checking in that the room was not wheelchair accessible, even after I asked about it.
Perfect location if your goal is to get an early flight (like us). There's easy access to the airport without having to hop on the highway, and there was parking right in front of my motel room! Staff was super helpful and accommodating; they opened up the breakfast area a half-hour earlier than normal just for us.
You're so close to the airport you can hear the planes pretty clearly. Fortunately the plane traffic dies down overnight so we slept pretty well anyway.
Room very clean. Parking available.
Tv was old..coffee maker didnt work. From inside latch was broken. Couldnt double lock for security. Didnt explain that it was continental breakfast on booking.com.
Front desk ,very friendly. Great customer service..
Plane noise too excessive..
Close to airport and rental cars. Had a nice cont. Breakfast and good coffee. The young men working that night and in the morning were very cordial.
The photos on the internet lie! The rooms are not as they are pictured so don't believe the photos. Rooms are old; bed is awful. I was afraid of bed bugs and also of people staying there. When I reviewed the rooms on the web site, I thought they looked decent. The rooms are old and on a scale of 1-10, a 3. For $30 more we could have stayed in a newer room, still close to rental cars and airport, and felt as if we could walk on the floors barefoot!~
